I sampled the Vanilla cupcake and the Red Velvet mini cupcakes from Swirlz. I thought both cakes were delicious. The vanilla icing was too dense for me and I love icing. I liked the cream cheese icing on the red velvet cupcake a bit better. It wasn’t quite as heavy and had been whipped a bit more. All in all a good experience and I would go back but I wouldn’t rush.

Delicious cupcakes for about a little under $ 4.00. My gf and I stop in every time we are in the area.

Everything about this place is wonderful. I was hoping to find one birthday cupcake for a gluten-free friend and they had several delicious flavors to choose from. I don’t have any dietary restrictions and I very much enjoyed the gluten-free vanilla cupcake, too! The service was wonderful and it’s not a bad walk from the Red Line.

Gluten free Vegan Choc Chip Cookie dough is the best. We get it for all special occasions. Best gluten free cupcake outside in Chicago. Love that they try new flavors. Those of us on restricted diets get bored of same ol same ol, so thank you for that! Super helpful and friendly staff, too. We’ll be back soon :)

These cupcakes are great, but they are a bit on the pricey side. As far as the flavor, these cupcakes are more light and airy than others I’ve tasted in this city. But on the downside, I didn’t get a big burst of flavor. They are still very good cupcakes, I appreciate they have doggy cupcakes and vegan varieties. Overall I would recommend this place, just be prepared to overpay a bit.

Came all the way from our hotel downtown for the gluten free cupcakes. We were very happy to find this spot! Awesome cupcakes… very flavorful! Nice neighborhood, friendly staff, and clean restaurant. Would definitely come back, very much worth the trip.

Swirlz Cupcakes is absolutely wonderful — friendly service, clean, and reasonably priced(under $ 4 per cupcake, which is pretty good for Chicago). A cute neighborhood spot with the best gluten-free cupcakes I’ve ever had. You can tell they’re made fresh. Their gluten-free(and vegan) cupcakes don’t fall apart like most gluten-free baked goods do. I know of several people who order them by choice. You can check out what flavors they have each day online and they always have surprise flavors as well. A little sad that I know this, but hey, I love me some Swirlz Cupcakes!

Imagine my surprise to find out the maker of wonderful gluten and dairy free cupcakes also makes cakes! I used Swirlz for both my shower and a complement for my wedding cake. The red velvet was a huge hit at the wedding shower. For the wedding, we had a main cake, and this was great to have next to it for my husband and I to cut, and me to enjoy. The tasting was a disappointment as the flavors I wanted to taste weren’t in the store, and two of the three tasting flavors were cupcakes I’d previously bought at Whole Foods. The cake itself is very expensive for a cake. It’s something that was great for special occasions but not something I’d splurge on for a birthday party. For the wedding day, it was great to have the delivery option.

Didn’t love the frosting. Wasn’t very sweet and tasted oily instead of buttery.

I was on a business trip and since it was a stressful one, I needed some sugar! I loved Swirlz. The display of the cupcakes is very similar to Sprinkles. But as soon as I saw the butter cream cupcakes, I knew it would taste lighter! AMAZING! The staff were friendly, they even gave me mini cupcakes with my cupcakes purchased! There’s 15 minute parking right in front of the store, leave your emergency lights on and you can go in to make your purchase!

Excellent cup cakes. Twixie is by far one of the best cup cakes I have had. Highly recommend the place.

I am a neutral party in the Chicago cupcakes wars which I’m surprised have not yet turned violent. Swirlz cupcakes are elegantly decorated, the topping is generous and delicious, the cake is moist, has a pleasing texture and consistency, and is not too sweet. They have a large selection suited to various dietary restrictions. The staff is friendly and professional. The store is clean and attractively decorated. 5 stars in my book.

While walking on the way to a nearby bar in LP, these cupcakes all of a sudden stared at me through their window and literally yelled my name lol. I quickly reversed and noticed it was three minutes before their closing time. Hooray! First thing I must note is that there is nothing special whatsoever about their décor. Kind of boring, really. The staff is super, super nice though! I went in and looked around and while they had many standard options(vanilla, chocolate, red velvet), those just LOOKED«blah» to me. Their presentation skills are lacking. However what SOUNDED good to me was the toffee caramel cheesecake cupcake with a graham cracker bottom. So glad I chose this one. The buttercream was very good, a generous amount of it too. The cake was moist and flavorful. The cupcake taste was solid. However, I used to own a cupcake business and know that there are far better cupcakes out there in the world. This place is by no means bad but it’s not GREAT. Would I go back? Yes, only for that one cupcake though. BTW, I think the cupcake craze is sadly officially reaching its expiration date. I really hope shops start noticing this and start offering other sweet treats. Instead of just«Swirlz Cupcakes» add«and more» to the end of your name. Maybe start adding buttercream filled doughnuts(so in right now) or something similar. Your taste is there but the appeal wasn’t.

Oh, my god. Absolutely amazing. After my last set of bloodwork showed I had a dairy intolerance, I set out to find a cupcake that tastes even remotely like a «real» cupcake. I picked up a double chocolate cupcake from Bountiful Eatery on Broadway, and OH, MYGOD. I swear to y’all, I could not tell the difference and triple and quadruple check the box to make sure it was really truly vegan and gluten free! Oh and! I called the owner and told her how much her cupcakes changed my life. She was so happy to share recipe ideas and asked if I had any ideas for future cupcakes!

These are possibly the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. Me and my wife had these at our wedding even. If you are looking for Gluten-Free desserts, stop reading this and go there! Highly recommended!

I think it’s nice that they have a lot of cupcakes that suit different dietary needs, but unfortunately, this results in a compromised quality and taste(based on my own preferences). This is also a rather small, but quaint, space, so don’t plan on a dine-in experience.

I need to come visit here again. I’ve been craving their gluten-free grasshopper cupcakes. When I first got diagnosed with celiac disease I was all angsty because I worried I’d never be able to enjoy baked goods and cupcakes again, but Swirlz saved the day and for that I am eternally grateful. Even if you don’t have dietary restrictions, Swirlz has the cupcake for you. Also, what a wonderful staff and quaint shop! I hope they open more locations.

We visited this place on a bike tour. They offered a variety of cupcake flavors, even gluten-free and vegan gluten-free cupcakes. They used buttercream for the frostings. I had the Strawberry Strawberry and Alex had Vanilla. They weren’t vegan or gluten-free. This place was tiny but you can certainly enjoy the cupcakes outside.

I have been a fan of Swirlz for years, and they continue to impress me each time I stop in! Their gluten free cupcakes are AMAZING and they always have at least three flavors to choose from. That in itself is amazing; I don’t just have to have the one gluten free flavor?! I love the twixie cupcake the best — it tastes just like I remember a Twix bar tasting from my pre-gluten free days. Swirlz also has gluten free and vegan cupcakes, and while I’m not vegan, I sometimes choose these because of the unique flavors. Their vegan gluten free cookie dough cupcake has a cookie dough ball in the center and on top of the frosting! So, so good. Each cupcake is individually packaged in plastic containers, and they even staple the bags to ensure that your cupcakes won’t tip over on the way home. I live in the suburbs, but I’ve been known to make the trip downtown just for Swirlz’s gluten free cupcakes, and I will always stop by whenever I’m nearby. No other gluten free cupcake place even comes close to being as good as Swirlz!
