Amazing food, drinks and brunch specials. This is now my favorite brunch spot amongst the masses of brunch spots. Erin are server was fantastic. 10⁄10. Chicken and waffles and mimosas are a great way to start a sunday.

I have extremely mixed feelings about this place. I live just down the street and have come here several times for drinks, which are phenomenal, the bartenders know how to make a good martini. In terms of food, I came here once with my boyfriend and ordered the bruschetta plate and empanadas for apps, both of which were good. For entrees I ordered the autumn risotto and my boyfriend ordered the hanger steak. I love risotto I order it whenever I can and my grandmother always makes risotto for dinner, so I know what it should taste and feel like. But this risotto was terrible, it was undercooked and the both the risotto and the squash had zero traces of spices or flavorings. My boyfriends steak was the same way. The sauce was very good, but the meat itself didn’t have any salt or any sort of seasoning on it and was definitely not medium rare. I have never sent back food purely because it was bad(because I’m not an jerk) but I almost made an exception for this. That’s how flavorless the food was. Especially considering the price of those plates. All in all, I’ll be back for drinks and avoid the food. FYI it is extremely loud here.

I have been here numerous times and have always had a good experience. However, at my most recent visit for Saturday brunch the music was crazy loud, the restaurant super warm/sticky, and our waiter super slow.(They weren’t even busy). We had to remind several staff members(other than our waiter) to refresh our water and bring the cocktails that we had ordered. Disappointing. Used to be my favorite brunch place in the hood. Will think twice before going here again.

Still obsessed with Taverna! Thursday ½ martinis is where its at! My suggestion is sitting at the bar because it gets CRAZY in there and you get your drinks sooner! Also, shout out to Kenny for being an amazing bartender! We love him!

My dinner at Taverna 750 was one of the most memorable meals I’ve had in Chicago. I came with my boyfriend’s mom on a Tuesday and we were able to be seated right away without having made a reservation. The bruschetta was one of the best dishes I’ve eaten in my life and I have not stopped thinking about it since I left the restaurant. The bread was crunchy, the pesto was packed with basil flavor, the goat cheese was creamy and tangy and then caramelized onions were sweet and added a pop of flavor. The Chicken Limone was light and simple and the ingredients really spoke for themselves. The spaghetti was cooked in olive oil, and butter and was topped with grilled chicken, capers and sun-dried tomatoes. There was a decadent buttery lemon sauce on top of it all. Everything I’ve eaten here is excellent and I have already been back several times! I recommend going with a group of people or a few friends so that you can try a variety of small plates. It’s a great place for a date as well!

Great food, and good music. The brunch special with the mimosas and martinis is probably the best brunch special I’ve come across. The food was hot and tasted fresh. I will be back next wknd!

The promise of mimosas and martinis has had me dying to come here for ages. Needless to say, we opted for the special that includes one appetizer, one entrée, bottomless mimosas, and two martinis. All for $ 29. If that itself doesn’t have you eagerly planning your next boozy brunch here, then I don’t know what to say. Taverna is clever and includes many«premium» options on the menu for a slight upcharge. I personally stuck to what was included, but it’s only $ 3 extra anyway. We arrived 15 minutes early for our 11am reservation, but they sat us and started bringing out drinks even though we were missing one member of our party. Taverna DOESNOT skimp on liquor. The space is so cute. There are pops of color and images of fabulous individuals everywhere. The playlist was great, in my opinion. Pretty much exactly what I want to listen to during brunch at an appropriate volume. Here’s what I ordered: Appetizer — Spicy Crab Dip: Great. I saw people raving about it on Unilocal, and it lived up to the hype. Entrée — Duck Bacon EBLT: Enticed by «duck bacon», I strayed from my usual order of chicken and waffles. It was good, but my friend ordered the chicken and waffles and I wish I had opted for that instead :(The bottomless mimosas stop once your entrée comes out, but this is probably for your own good…(see 10 Commandments of Brunch on their website). Martini #1 — Bloody Mary: Enjoyed this thoroughly. The salt and pepper rim was done well. Martini #2 — Adult Chocolate Milk: Tasted exactly like chocolate milk. Was there any liquor in it? Lord knows none of us needed it at this point. This is the Sunday Funday crack spot. Plan your next one here.

We had a good time. Service was good. They seemed short staffed(?), but that meant more mimosas for us, so no complaints! ;) The bruschetta — yes! Other people’s meals looked great too. The chicken and biscuits — hard NO! I’m certain it may have given a couple of us a minor case of food p — — -g. My girlfriend puked later that evening. No, she was not drunk. I know that for a fact. My guess is it was unlucky. Three stars because the music was way too loud. It’s Sunday fun day, but if I wanted to club for brunch I’d take them up on their offer for a free bottle of champagne at scarlet after your extravaganza.

I really wanted to like this place. It’s very welcoming and I went on a late Winter day where the sun was really bright. Which was great for February in Chicago, but don’t sit near the windows here on a sunny day, you will bake. It’s not a very big place and there are 2 seatings, which is why it says you need to be done in 2 hours on the menu. We went for the 11am seating. I’m not big on boozy brunches basically because I don’t like orange juice and I’m not a hard liquor fan in general. But I was definitely the exception. The menu isn’t huge which is good because our food came out quickly, but picky eaters beware. I got the duck BLT which was pretty good and he got the steak eggs benedict. The food and service was fine, but I wouldn’t say the food lived up to the Unilocal love I’ve seen on here. Also, they don’t have tea and I heard the coffee was pretty bad so if you plan to roll sober stick with water. And yes, it does get loud. I wouldn’t discourage anyone from coming here, but I can’t say I’m a fan at this point.

Fun vibe for dinner… they create a ‘night out’ atmosphere. It’s a super cute restaurant with very polite servers. I like their small dish groupings. You can order like three per person and it’s a good value. They have many vegetarian choices. Last time I was here we did all vegetarian and still had more to choose from. The drinks with the additional ‘side car’ are fun and you get a lot to drink!

I came here for dinner and drinks with a friend. Atmosphere was amazing. Jesus, our waiter, was so attentive and very fun to have. He was very knowledgable with the menu and we had him bring us drinks that he recommended and he didn’t fail. I had the 750 smash and the smokey Paloma(strong, but amazing). Went back again(didn’t get to finish my review before I came back here again) to see our new friend Jesus and yet he didn’t fail us. Drinks are amazing here people!!! The food was delish(wasn’t a fan of the curry dish) but that’s about it. Highly recommend to check this place out for some drinks. It’s always a fun night in Boystown!

What can I say, for Sunday Brunch? Amazing restaurant with outside seating is exactly what I consider the perfect brunch spot. Unfortunately they do not take reservations for outside which of course is understandable. We still just waited at the bar for a little over 25 minutes which wasn’t bad. And of course a few cocktails early on never hurt anyone, plus can I add that the cocktail list is quite impressive with flavor. I of course had a few martini’s and that was enough to settle me in but no, I had to have the brunch with mimosas! I had a few of the mimosas and was quite impressed not only with the quality of the liquor but of the taste too. The orange juice was pretty much orange juice but the combination with the liquor seriously made it better. A few of these and its over, but not really. I love the fact that you can share the portions of brunch items, although not sure if you want to since they are not so big, but very satisfying. I had the Mac and Cheese and a few of the other plates over the times I have visited and I am very impressed with the flavors as well as the presentations, after all this is brunch but they still take care of details and for this I am quite happy. Come in and try out the fair and see for yourself what I am talking about. It would be of course wise to make reservations for Sunday Brunch so I would highly suggest you do that, walk ins are also welcome but you may have to wait a very long time since this place has been a hot spot for quite some time. Don’t underestimate the establishment, they will(and usually do) surprise you with their foods and drinks so bring it!

This used to be a semi-serious Italian restaurant, and now it’s a small plates place. Is that bad? Not at all. One thing is exactly the same – cocktails are terrific. The drinks are superbly crafted and well made. Martinis are half-price on Thursdays, and each is served with a «sidecar»(extra) in its own carafe. Great! I personally think you are NOT getting an XL drink – they are just dividing your normal cocktail into two, but no matter, it’s fun. The small plates can be tasty and also just so-so. Deviled eggs with lobster were delish. How could they be otherwise? Lamb meatball sliders were terrific. The hand cut truffle fries were very good. Bruschetta was just so-so – the bread harder than a 2×4, and the tomato tapenade was way too tangy for my taste. But the terrific bartender, Rian(they’re all terrific) fixed everything, got lightly toasted toast for me, and things improved from there. One final tip: bring EARPLUGS. Gay people are loud enough, and their soundtrack is loud too, but when bachelorettes and straights visit Boystown, they lose all sense of restraint and normal self-control. They think it’s a free for all. The decibels in here are amazing! Party on, dudes!

My boyfriend and I stopped here during our first night in Chicago. We read good reviews online, loving their website, and were drawn to their fairly extensive cocktail list. It also didn’t hurt that we were there on Martini night, which meant $ 6 sidecar martinis — a GREAT deal. Both of my martinis were delicious — the Amalfi in particular, was refreshing and delicious. My boyfriend had the Ruby Fashion, one of the Crafted Ice Cocktails, which was strong, but had great flavor. Overall, our bartender was fantastic — friendly, attentive without hovering, and talked to us like people instead of customers. The vibe(on a quiet thursday night) was cozy, relaxed, and elegant. The music was pretty much perfect, too!

While I’m getting too old to chug mimosas in 30 sec flat, Taverna got me to do it. The whole reason you chug is because the bottomless mimosas are only served until your food comes. So you order your drinks, tell your waiter you need a minute to order your food and start chugging. The vibe is fun because everyone’s basically chugging as fast as possible and getting silly. Onto the food. My breakfast flatbread was just ok(essentially just a flatbread, an egg and some arugula) but the crab dip and bread pudding were the real MVPs. Idk if it was the alcohol talking, but the dip was a perfect crabby, savory delight and the pudding was warm and gooey goodness. Just drooling at the thought of these. Service was great and they accommodated my crazy large, drunk group with no problem. Kudos to them. I may come back but I see myself getting cirrhosis if I was a regular brunch goer here. Like Danny Glover, I’m gettin’ too old for this $**t.

2 years ago, I would have rated Taverna a 5. But last night I walked into the smoldering ash of whatever nuclear holocaust occurred at one of my former favorite haunts in B-Town and was horrified at what has become of it. Though I should have known something was up when we were literally one of 4 tables the entire night on a Tuesday late evening. Let’s start with the drinks– why does every drink on the menu have limoncello and/or grapefruit in it?! I get it– summer, citrus, refreshing… but this is theme-menu overkill. You have to leave a few classic drinks on there– that’s just the rule! Overall cocktails were ok. Strong and tasty, but I would have liked the option of tasting something that wasn’t trying to be sweet AND bitter AND pretentious. Next, the food– what an atrocity. Not that I needed to confirm that they had changed chefs, but I did ask and was told that there have been«a ton» of changes in head chef over the past 2 years– never a good sign. And the tragic consequences are evident on Taverna’s current menu. I used to love the braised pork and polenta dish– perfectly braised pork that fell right off the bone onto a delicious, perfectly cooked bed of yellow polenta. What I was served last night– a pile of salty pork from a can ejected onto a pile of lumpy mashed potatoes, garnished with some limp burned carrot shreds. Oh, and speaking of garnishes, why was every place garnished with chopped green onions? If you have no clue what you’re doing and feel the need to haphazardly garnish your dish, default is parsley, not onion. Amateurs. The fried chicken consisted of some fatty fried chicken pieces that would have been fine on their own; however, someone felt it appropriate to slather them in the leftover sausage gravy from Sunday brunch(yeah, industry veteran here– you’re not fooling anyone. Make the fish a special when it’s about to turn and recycle anything that you didn’t use up the day before). The spicy crab dip was ok, but sriracha?! That’s a sauce used to inject flavor into shitty Thai, not a seasoning to be used in a place that is trying to be a fine dining establishment. Phyllo mozzarella sticks were pretty bland, despite the injection of some truffle oil in a desperate attempt to make it taste like SOMETHING. Apparently Taverna has its brunch game down based on all the good reviews and I will reluctantly return to give that a try, since I really do want to like this place again.(You have to be pretty incompetent to fuck up brunch) However– listen up Taverna management– get a decent chef back on your payroll to save this place before it gets any worse. Whoever is doing your food and drink menu now is an idiot with no creativity or soul, and it shows

I went with my girlfriend and her family to Taverna 750 for restaurant week. This place was fantastic! It’s appealing to many different age groups of types of people, as evidenced by me, my girlfriend, and girlfriends’ parents all loving it. The atmosphere was incredible. The service was phenomenal. Our waiter had so much charisma, as did the rest of the staff. It seemed like everyone that worked there had a strong personality and fun character. They were making us laugh non-stop and of course their recommendations and service were second to none. They had six different«cello» drinks. Limoncello, Espresso Cello, Orangecello, GrapefruitCello, and one more than is escaping me right now but all of the drinks crafted with these cellos were delicious. My girlfriend’s father and I destroyed three orders of Cornbread before anything else hit the table. It was quite an exceptional starter dish. Everyone at the table got the Hangar Steak and thought it was wonderful. It was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right. The gorgonzola cream sauce gave it a really nice kick. Highly recommend — will definitely be going again!

Came with some friends for brunch on a Sunday around 11:30. Busy, busy and quite popular. We got a window seat which was nice. I ordered the $ 22 brunch which includes a starter and entrée. My starter was the Vanilla Yogurt Parvait which is served in a cute little mason jar and is accompanied by Show Pony Fig & Cherry Compote, Almond Granola and Honey. There are 2 categories of entrees(regular and premium) I ordered the Duck Bacon EBLT which is a regular entrée. The EBLT is fantastic! Duck bacon, sunny side up egg, lettuce, tomato, fries and garlic aioli. Service was a little slow due to packed house. The tables and chairs are squeezed in with very little room between neighboring tables. I’m interested in their dinner menu, I’ll be back.

My boyfriend and I went here on a Sunday night for dinner. No reservation. There was a decent crowd, not packed though and we were seated right away. The hostess was very friendly and so was our waiter who was in training but he was very attentive and knowledgeable. We got the spicy pizza, skirt steak and the deviled eggs. Everything was really delicious. The pepper on the egg was a little spicy for me but I liked everything else! I’m usually not a fan of tapas. I feel like it’s really expensive for little tiny plates of food but I will say we had 3 plates that night and a couple drinks and actually ended up taking food home! It was very filling. My drink was really cool too. It had a flavored ice cube so as I drank it the taste of it changed. Never had anything like it before! There was also a girl singing live music that night and she was fantastic. Played a lot of songs we liked!
