Saturday, about 11:30, just came from a funeral and really hungry. I ordered Classic Eggs Benedict, my sister ordered the veggie omelet and my brother-in-law ordered the lox and bagel. I don’t usually order Eggs Benedict because of the HUGE number of calories but I wanted to splurge. I was very disappointed. I should preface my remarks with the fact that I hate dry food. In the case of Benedict, I’d like the sauce all over the eggs and onto the plate so I have something to douse each bite into, if I so choose. The sauce was scantily placed on the eggs. I don’t think the sauce was homemade. The slice of ham was very minimal. I could hardly taste it. And the English Muffin didn’t look or taste like an English Muffin. My sister said it was but it didn’t have the texture that I’m accustomed to. There were potatoes served on the plate and they were OK but they were dry and could have had more seasoning. The fresh fruit was wonderful. The service was good, the place was cool as it was very steamy outside and while we didn’t partake, there was a Bloody Mary«do-it-yourself» bar which looked fun. The lox plate was amazing and I had a taste. It was very good although the avocado was hard. My sister didn’t comment on her omelet one way or the other. The ladies room could use a hook on the door to hang purse, coat, etc. I would not return to Drew’s on Halsted.

Great dining experience on a Saturday evening. Everything – drinks, appetizer, salads, entrees, and dessert – was excellent, and the duck confit was AMAZING – one of most delicious dishes I have ever tasted. Service also was very good. Definitely recommend.

Finally decided to try something else this time and picked the pan seared sashimi grade ahi tuna steak. Drew has nailed it again. My new favorite. They are making it tough to eat anywhere else!

Passing along a big thank you and praise to James, Drew and the staff for a wonderful experience at the post-wedding brunch of my son and his bride last weekend. We were 28 in our party and were made to feel very special at our event. The food was wonderful the drinks were great and the weight service couldn’t have been better. Cheers to Drews!

I’ve been going here for years and the food & service have been consistently fantastic. When friends/family visit this is the place I bring them. The menu is varied and changes over time, and it’s always good.

I went here with my sister right before a blue man group show at a theater about a block away. We decided to come here because if we showed our tickets, we’d get 10%. Staff was friendly. Trendy place. I had the salmon, and my sister had the filet mignon. Both were SOOOOGOOD. Food was cooked PERFECTLY. Wow. We were full and kept eating anyway. Haha. The only reason I’m not giving them 5 stars is because we waited almost an hour for our food. I mean my sister and I were having a good time chatting it up, so it wasn’t as big of a deal to us, but beware of the ridiculously long wait.

I’ve only been here for drinks and I won’t be quick to return. Martinis are good(and strong!). Ambiance is great(I love the colorful candle holders in each table). However, service was atrocious. The host was super nice, but it took forever for someone to come take the drink order, and the place wasn’t even that busy. Same poor service throughout the course of the night. I will avoid this place if possible for that reason.

My fiancé was studying for the bar exam, and I met her mom, dad and family friends at Drew’s after a Blue Man Group show. I was apprehensive coming back to Drew’s after my previous 2 experiences. However, they really wanted to go to Drew’s so I decided to give Drew’s another try. I was relieved that we did NOT have Hakim as our waiter. He ruined a birthday celebration with 15 people and ruined an engagement celebration with 30 people due to exceptionally poor service and a horrid attitude. To my delight, we had a waiter similar to the folks I’ve had serve me at Taverna 750, mEAT, and Wood. What’s the common theme with these waiters? They’re charming, charismatic, attentive, and courteous. Our waiter at Drew’s shared these attributes and gave me my first positive experience about Drew’s service in three years. On to the food — I got the Cajun Penne Pasta. This pasta included shrimp, chicken, andouille sausage, marinara, Parmesan and basil. I quite enjoyed this dish! Great combination of food. The S’Mores sundae was OUTSTANDING! It was quite literally a S’Mores flavored sundae packed full with ice cream, marshmallow, chocolate and graham crackers. This might be one of my all-time favorite desserts. Overall, the food and experience were excellent this time. If all of Drew’s waiters were similar to the gentleman who served me last time, I would absolutely come back. I want to like Drew’s, I truly do. I can’t seem to stay away! However, knowing that Hakim still works there, I can’t in good faith give this establishment more than 3 stars.

Absolutely awful service. Took about 15 mins for someone to take our order. Then they messed up me and my friend’s orders. And brought my others friend’s order at least 15 mins after the rest of the orders came out. In fact, when they brought his food out, it looked like it had been microwaved. The food was nothing memorable at all. I honestly could have cooked better at home and I literally don’t know how to make anything more than a boiled egg. Avoid this place.

Great martinis. Menu runs the gamut from assorted proteins(red meat, fowl, fish/shellfish, pasta) to burgers. Something for everyone, even vegetarians. I settled for the Halsted Burger which was very beefy, juicy, and perfectly cooked. The«regular» fries, as opposed to parm/truffle version, were disappointing.(You know the drill, not fried to order… or not fried enough) We started with the Asian Style Baby Back ribs which were oven baked, and very tender. BBQ sauced right before coming to the table. They were good. It was very slow on the night we dined there, and service was good. Drew’s is friendly neighborhood place that serves an honest cocktail and has a straight forward menu. Best thing, you get a tablecloth!

A recent trip to Chicago brought me here for brunch. My friend was surprised of the name change, but our server assured us it’s the same business. The $ 3 bloody mary’s was the highlight of this brunch experience. Spicy, with blue cheese olives; they packed a punch. The lowlight was the The Tex-Mex Omelet with cheese and chorizo. Ultimately flavorless, a tad bit greasy served with some fried potatoes that were sadly a bit cold. The breakfast burrito was barely a step up, but was better. Scrambled eggs and sausage stuffed into a tortilla. By no means authentic, but very filling and did the job for the price. Very reasonably priced, solid service in a nice ambiance, however brunch was by no means memorable.

This is a nice neighbor place with good food. My husband had the divers scallops with gnocchi and I had the seafood fra diavolo. This place would have gotten a better review if: 1-The service had been better. The place was not that busy and when the waiter would finally come out of the kitchen, he’d look towards our table and keep going. We had to flag him down every time. By comparison, the busboy was great and attentive to what was going on with his tables. 2-The puffed pastry on my banana caramelo dessert had not been burned on the bottom. I can’t believe they were serving that to paying customers. It was obvious that the burnt part extended beyond just my serving. It took me a while to figure out what the weird taste was, but I turned the pastry over to reveal the burnt part. I left it on the plate that way and the same waiter looked at it when he cleared it away and never said a word. He obviously doesn’t give a hoot about his customers and has no pride in his job or restaurant.

Our server Hakim was very attentive and very instructive with regards to the menu. He is able to explain any of the menu items in detail. The food was cooked to perfection and the charcuterie board appetizer is a must. We especially enjoyed the seared scallops and whitefish at this dining experience. I will continue to go back to Drew’s for a consistently great overall dining experience.

We came back again this time for a friend’s birthday celebration and we are never disappointed. One of my friend loves the ribs and my favorite this time is the fish stew… and of course I still have my fave tuna tartare and crab cakes.

This is your last chance to eat or drink at a regular bar/restaurant before taking the plunge into full-on Boystown. It’s a little jarring to have Drew’s/Jake’s fine dining juxtaposed next to places like Manhole. But the service here was good, the atmosphere was chill, and the price was right. I’m sure I’ll be back.

Made a stop for quick drink and the place sucks. A Bloody Mary is made with bottled Tobasco Mix and Aristrocat Vodka marked at $ 11. Should cost no more than $ 1. The screwdriver is made of Tropicana Juice and same aristocrat vodka. Don’t make a stop, pay for parking and crap. Not worth it. The stuff on display is just for show off and have not seem them use it. Common u put Macallan 12 and blacklabel on display?

I had met up with couple of friends at Jack’s. The last time I was there, it wasn’t the greatest, however, Christian, saved the evening. Great asset to the restaurant. To make a long story short, my companions had started and ordered the Ceasar Salad when I had arrived. After a round of drinks, we were finally ready to order. I had ordered one of the Dinner Package Menu and my friends had ordered two Grilled Beef Tenderloin(which I’ve had before — delicious). The dinner package included and appetizer, main course and dessert. Food and service were fantastic. No complaints. Even though Christian had a full section, he would check in with us through out our meal. We would certainly return. I would recommend this restaurant.

Wonderful thursday night jazz venue. Great date spot, very warm and welcoming. The live music starts at 8pm so be there by 730pm for a nice table. The staff is extremely customer service oriented and friendly. The food and service is excellent. Ask for Chris, a nice table and oriignal cocktail.

One Friday evening, my friend and I needed a last minute dinner reservation before going to a get together in Lakeview. I noticed that Jack’s had kind of mixed reviews on Unilocal, but the menu seemed promising enough to try out. The waiter was very nice and personable. The soup of the day was a chicken curry soup. This soup was amazing and had a great flavor to it. I could easily tell that it was a made from scratch soup. Instead of ordering a main dish from the regular side of their menu, I opted for the crab cake appetizer. Both the two crab cakes and small salad served with it were paired well together. The atmosphere at Jack’s wasn’t very memorable, but the food and waiter contributed well to the start of great Friday night.
