Chicago was devastated when our hometown Maurice Lenell cookie company was bought out by a larger corporate company. First all production was closed in Chicago and moved to Ohio in to a facility that was already producing cookies. Then the Maurice Lenell outlet store here was closed. Now we have this tiny independently owned storefront just south on Harlem from Irving. When the packaging changed I think the flavor changed too. They’re still pretty good but there seem to be some supply issues on keeping full stock of Maurice Lenell cookies(especially pinwheels) and costs are a little higher than they used to be. The owners here are nice and it’s nice to have a local supply for the cookies but if supply and prices aren’t good I have doubts of making the 15 mile drive to get here. For now I’m only giving three stars due to being currently out of stock on Pinwheels and that prices are needlessly inflated. Upon my next visit I’ll reconsider my rating depending on what I find.

As the huge Maurice Lennel sign toys with our memories of that awesome cookie factory that used to be on Harlem, it’s nice to find them here. Yes they pissed us all off when they moved the factory out of state. Yes they taste a little different. Yes they are still delicious.

You can find the Maurice Lenell cookies and other favorites here. My favorites are the Pinwheels and Almond cookies. Grab a few packs if you live far away. They also ship!
