I think the general Tod’s customer is older than me… a lot older than me by at least a decade; but I still love Tod’s shoes. Flats in a myriad of colors and partially handmade in Italy, with lots of love, is a lesson in feeling like there’s butter on both your feet. I have 2 pairs and wish I had 200. They’re the one go-to shoe that works with casual to slightly dressier outfits for work and fun, and withstands the inclement weather we have in Chicago. When I went in to purchase my 2nd pair, I was greeted and helped and thanked, partially and probably due to the interest I had in making a purchase, and I was wearing a pair of their flats and carrying one of their bags. For the stiletto wearer who likes Tods, the bags are sharp and quite functional as far as usage. A little on the pricey side — albeit, I think they’ll last forever.

First of all, the quality of Tod’s products are very good. My husband is very particular about his style and loves his Tod’s products. Their shoes are made in Italy and most importantly, the soles are hand stitched together. Hand stitched shoes reflect higher quality and will last for a very long time compared to shoes in which the soles are glued together which in turn do not last long. Tod’s prices are high but you are paying for quality, not merely because of the brand name. I recently came in to the store to purchase a wallet for my husband for our wedding anniversary. The more he used the wallet, the more he loved it. Again, it’s quality here. Whenever we needed help at the store, the staff has always been helpful and pleasant. They are always there to answer questions and assist whenever we needed something. The vibe is non-pretentious unlike other stores on Oak St. However, for a store that carries expensive products, I think it lacks the 5-star quality experience. Sure, llike I mentioned, the staff are helpful when you need help, but there were times when I walked in and out of the store, there wasn’t a «hello» or «goodbye». I might be nitpicking here but for the money I spend here, I at least expect a higher quality of overall experience too.

Let me be clear — I live in my driving mocs and will probably be buried in them as well — but I had the total opposite experience of Ester Y. — I went to ask whether or not they still made the particular style that has come to be my favorite, and they basically looked me up and down and said: «ummmm…no(subtext of the accompanying eye roll: why are you bothering us with your stupid question, child).» I then asked, «okay…well…the sole is looking a little worn out, what would you recommend that I do? Do you have cobbler you use for repairs?». Their follow up: «you are not supposed to wear these shoes outside. Ever. So we can’t do anything about it». Okay, I get it, I’m 25. But I had on Ferragamo loafers, a Bottega Veneta hobo, and an effing FURCOAT. Don’t treat me like an untouchable simply because I’m about 60 years younger than your primary purchasers. F — for customer service(and actually, my Prada loafers are more comfy, so head over there in you’re in the market) — and sweet Jesus… you should be trying to make me a life-long customer, not turn me away.

Listen, I like drivers. I do… and I think you should too. They are super comfo, easy to wear, and you could totally rock the look. The service here is friendly, they aren’t pretentious, and they are really helpful and informative. Unlike other designer stores, they are a little more laid back and less judgy.
