I was passing by and thought I’d give it a try. The TV was blasting in a less then appealing restaurant. Food is super bland. Took way too long to get take out And the guy behind the counter started telling me the dish I ordered was not that great. Avoid this place

I am impressed by beef short ribs. It is strongly recommend. The host was very nice and he offered us a 20%off discount.

I came into today for the first time and ordered the Pork Ramen dish and it was really horrible. The broth lacked flavor and for the price i paid, it was not worth it. Huge disappointment. The guy at the counter was very nice, but the food lacked. I won’t be back.

This place is good if you’re looking for some fast asian grill/stir fry take out food, but the food is really ho hum. The previous two times I had broccoli beef and shrimp skewer, but honestly speaking, the beef dish lacked some flavor(could have added dried chili pepper) and the shrimp was a little dry. However, it’s a big plus that they are open very late on weekdays and weekends, and they do have enough seating if you do want to dine in. From what I’ve seen most people order takeout or get the food delivered.

This place used to be my favorite! It was such great value and the food was awesome! Apparently, they recently changed the menu and now I can not even get any of my favorite dishes. I spent more money and was not impressed with the food at all! Very disappointed.

This place is great for a fast grill/Asian take out place. The combos are a good bang for you buck. A lot of food for about $ 8. I am a big fan of the fried pancake appetizers and the grilled chicken thighs. The owners are also very nice. My boyfriend and I ordered there one night after I had been recovering from the flu. Since I had been sick, I just asked if them could give me the soup broth they use in the ramen. One of the women that works there actually called me back and said she would put together a soup for me with just veggies and tofu since I was avoiding meat & egg at the time. I thought that was a nice touch on the customer service side. Another plus… they are open late!

I’ve been trying to find a decent Chinese place in Chicago for over a year. I had high hopes for this place when GrubHub listed it at 4.7÷5.0 stars — but I’m guessing someone paid someone off over there. I ordered the teriyaki chicken with lo mein, which comes with 6 «crab Rangoons» but they were far from what I know of crab Rangoons. They had little to no filling and the dough(or whatever you call it) was super soggy and gross. The teriyaki was gross, the lo mein was cold, and the chicken was unappetizing, misshapen chunks. I won’t go here again. The search continues…

I’ve gotten Uni Grill multiple times since it opened, and am honestly surprised it isn’t currently a 4 star or higher restaurant. I’m yet to have a negative experience there. Great food and for a great price. For meals, they’re pan-beef skillet is hard to beat. $ 8 for a good portion of grilled beef, asparagus and broccoli then a bunch of white rice/noodles. I’m always tempted to get that every time I go, because I enjoy it that much. But, I don’t want to be that guy who gets the exact same thing every time, so I’ve also had their skewers, teriyaki chicken, steak salad… Uni Grill has been a very pleasant surprise for me, and I’m glad they opened so close to my apartment. At the very least, this place is worth checking out at least once!

Pretty underwhelmed w food and service Delivery was close to 90min. The skewers were OK but the honey walnut shrimp is terrible and so is the shrimp roll. Never been so disappointed. First and last time. Will never order from here again.

This place is awesome. Definitely very similar to Chinese Grill. Grilled pork ribs is a must to order every time! Also with a great price. There is nowhere place like this in north of Chicago. Give it a try!!!

High hopes for this new restaurant. The website looks promising, but what I got wasn’t even good. It was fair. The problem here is it looks like they’re using the same kitchen equipment as the previous restaurant that closed earlier this year(2014). They gave the place a few coats of paint and opened it up as some sort of low-end pseduo-Chinese, pseudo-if-it-can-be-fried-we-make-it skewer & smoothie place. The bathroom is in the back behind the kitchen. As you make your way to the bathroom, do NOT look in the kitchen areas. The fried tofu appetizer was just your average skillet-seared tofu served in a little basket with wax paper. Oh, come on! Use a plate or something. They served it(like so many other things here) with some kind of lemony mixture. Eww. I asked for peanut sauce to dip the tofu into, and I got a blank expression as if I were going to put tartar sauce on a hot dog. The salad was ok(does it come with all the entrees?). The dressing was the same lemon stuff. On a salad? Gross. After the tofu and salad, I relegated myself to a crappy meal and set the bar incredibly low for the entrée. Even though they were filled with pork, the won tons smelled like fish from the deep fryer everything is fried in. The chicken and rice were the only items that I enjoyed, but only in that, «Thank God, it looks like real chicken and tastes like real chicken» way. Drinks are by the can or bottle – no soda fountain. I think I’ll avoid this restaurant for a while. Let them get their processes down, let them understand people want something other than lemon dressing for everything, and maybe bump up the restaurant’s overall cleanliness.

Skewers! I want to ADORE this place, instead I just like it. I love eating things on sticks and they have a whole list of well priced items that are marinated and grilled. They also have the pan-fried pancakes that I fell in love with in China. I’ve been here 4 times since they opened about a month ago and have gotten almost all the skewer items(asparagus, mushroom, egg plant, zucchini, chicken, beef, and shrimp) and the a-fore mentioned beloved pancakes and the stuffed peppers. Here’s the deal: the food is good, but inconsistent in how its prepared and cooked. The first time I went everything was perfect: the veggies were well seasoned and cooked until done, but still a touch crunchy, and the meat was seared and delicious. The following 2 times the veggies lacked on seasoning and the meat was done, but not charred to perfection. The last time the zucchini didn’t have any seasoning and the meat was under-cooked, sadly I tossed one of the beef skewers because it wasn’t worth it and I wanted it to be worth it. The pancakes and stuffed pepper btw are SO very good(a touch oily, but still SO very good). So why do I keep going? It’s good food that I generally enjoy and I think they can work out the grill times and I want to be around when they do. Also, it’s a relaxed atmosphere near work #3 and the people that work there are very friendly.

Stopped by here on a Friday night with my husband and a friend to grab some take-out(we live 1.5 blocks away). My friend got chicken, beef, and shrimp skewers(2 each). My husband got beef, chicken, and mini-sausage skewers(2 each) with lo mein noodles. I got a mushroom, asparagus, and chicken skewer(1 each), a stuffed pepper, and a small short ribs. Out of all of that food, the best thing was probably the short ribs, but I would give them only a 3 stars. Everything else was worse. The shrimp skewers had no flavor. The beef was described as «mushy» and the mini-sausages were described as «weird.»(FYI, when we asked the cashier what the meat in the sausages is, she didn’t know…). The chicken was fair, but strangely sweet. The asparagus was fair, but needed seasoning. The mushroom was portabello, but only one slice of it! It had potential, but also needed seasoning and more slices. The lo mein was spaghetti noodles with oil(no joke). The stuffed pepper(which I ordered based on other reviews) had a nice spiciness, but absolutely no flavor. It looked like ground meat sitting in a half of a pepper cut long-ways. Lastly, the short ribs were decent, good flavor and a good amount for a small; however, please do not put them on a bed of lettuce! No one wants to eat wilted iceberg lettuce with their food. Will not be back. Missing Fast and Fresh for sure!!!

Some of the worst tasting food I have ever had. The beef skewers were sweet and disgusting. The noodles were bland. The chicken was passable.

Small place but always a solid choice. The owners definitely deliver on simple and cheap kebobs for a quick bite. If you’re going here for the first time, know you should order a few kebobs to get full! One is not going to cut it. Major plus is that there’s a great drink selection, makes it easy to find Asian sodas and drinks you would normally only find in an Asian supermarket(i.e. Ramune). Enjoy!

I’m glad that there is a new grill place open up in this neighborhood. We ordered the pot stickers, stuffed pepper, asparagus skewer, mushroom skewer, chicken skewer, beef skewer, shrimp skewer, grilled pork ribs and grilled beef short ribs. They are AWESOME!!! My favorites are stuffed pepper, asparagus skewer and grilled beef short ribs. My husband likes the beef skewer, shrimp skewer and grilled pork ribs. We definitely will come back with some beers. It is BYOB!!!

I tried chicken, beef, shrimp and zucchini skewers with a side of lo mein and can of coke. Grand total: $ 9 bucks and change. The skewers were decent, good flavor. Shrimp was over-cooked. If you have a big appetite you may be ordering quite a few skewers. The lo mein was not good. Its basically pasta mixed with a sweet red sauce. Its not lo mein in the traditional sense. I was confused and only took a few bites. I don’t think I will return. Too bad because the area needs more decent restaurants to grab a quick bite to eat.

I was excited for this place to open because it’s something unique, close and cheap. I went in and am glad they cleaned up the place a bit from the last owner. The girl behind the counter was very nice and once I ordered, my food came out quickly. This is where I stopped being impressed. I tried the beef, chicken, shrimp, zucchini and asparagus skewers, with a side of lo mein. The shrimp was very fishy and had no seasonings. The chicken and beef had a marinade but it wasn’t very good. The zucchini was bland and the asparagus was not even on a skewer, but I did like the flavor on them. The lo mein was pasta with red sauce… I was I was kidding. Overall, it was a disappointment

Glad this opened up with such reasonable prices. Food was decent and fresh. Atmosphere is ultra causal and it’s BYOB! We only had apps and most of all the skewers. Will be back to try entrée next time. Beef was my favorite and my Japanese friend liked the octopus best. I would skip the shrimp next time. The best value was the eggplant. Just wished it was cooler inside, as in temperature. Update: came back next day. Tried additional meat items and it was awesome. Chicken have a hint of curry. Stuffed peppers were a lil crisp on skin w pork stuffing, short ribs were awesome! Great portion for small!
