Heads up — Villa May has changed hands and things have changed in terms of their product, not for the better I’m sad to say. Returned home from a trip and decided to order using a recent menu asking for the Monday night free appetizer special. Was told that the offer no longer applied because they were«under new management.» Placed my order for thin crust large pizza with sausage — after having to give all my details in terms of address, phone etc. because they obviously are starting over with a new database. My regular friendly delivery guy was not the one who delivered the pizza. The pizza arrived and it was not thin crust. More like New York Style pizza with a thick crust. Different sauce, different sausage. Just different and not in a good way. Now I’m on the search for a reasonably priced, quickly delivered, true thin-crust pizza in the Andersonvile/Edgewater area.

Great neighborhood thin crust pizza. For me, a good pizza is all about the sauce, and theirs is wonderful.

I do love me some stuffed crust Pizza Hut but it’s nice to help out the little guy every once in a while and Villa May makes that worth it. I’m not a big fan of traditional Chicago-style deep dish pizza, so it’s nice to find a place that specializes – and excels – in thin crust. And oh what delicious crust it is! Light and buttery with the perfect crispness to it. I’ve tried their specialty pizza which includes sausage, onions, and basil and that was very good. I also tried a pie with pepperoni and basil and, despite being a little heavy on the basil, was still very tasty. The only downside is the price, but if you don’t mind paying a few extra dollars for a quality pie from a neighborhood joint then it shouldn’t be a problem. Also, the owner is super friendly so that makes the choice that much easier. If you’re nearby and enjoy a good thin crust pizza then I recommend giving this little guy a shot.

Eh. Welcome to Chicaaago. We kinda like our pizza arounds heres. Well, if you’re looking for the big boppers in the Chi-town ‘za scene, you’re probably not going to find Villa May on the list. But sometimes that’s what makes a little neighborhood joint like this the best. Cheap as they come, with a huge selection of hot food and the holy trinity of Chicago ‘za — stuffed(deep dish’s little cousin), pan and party style, i.e. Chicago thin crust. Now, I wouldn’t go out of your way to put this on a Pizza Pilgrimage to the Windy City, but if you’re looking for a tasty pie on the Northside, give Villa May a shot. You alls wonts regret it.

This was DELICIOUS! delivery took like just over an hour so that’s kind of a pain but it was mostly hot when it came. We split all the stuff below: Meat Ravioli: lots of sauce super tasty Lasagna: HUGE brick, tasty lots of cheeses Pepperoni Pizza Slice: great pizza, good sauce and crust, but better reheated the next day Little side salad: nice little salad w ranch Fries: tasty fries better reheated the next day I’d say heat up the oven if you want your dinner piping hot; throw it all in when the delivery gets there. But if you don’t mind it warm it’ll come mostly just warm. I ate some warm and then heated the rest up on about 400 for 13 or so minutes the next day.

Ordered through their website and got a confirmation email with my food’s ETA. 20 minutes after that time I gave them a call. No one picked up. MMMMM, hunger!

We don’t usually order pizza at my house and we wanted a change of pace. My guy found Villa May on GrubHub and he thought $ 11.99 for an 18 inch cheese pizza was a good deal. Well, each additional topping is $ 2.50! We got 4 toppings and our pie nearly cost us $ 30!!! Damn. It wouldn’t be a big deal but Villa May are VERY skimpy on their toppings. Delivery was fast, delivery man was happy and our pizza was hot. I think next time we’ll stick to fewer toppings so the cost isn’t a sticker shock. Villa May’s pizza is very thin but it is good. Just beware of the expensive and skimpy toppings!

Pizza is good, but the«special» is not that special. They used to allow you to have their«special» on the 18″ pizza with one topping. Now it seems they’re strict and only allow cheese. Tasty pizza, but not a special deal on a thin crust with cheese. Pizza by the slice borders on awful. Regarding non-pizza items… pasta is boring and costs too much, fries are gross, sandwiches/burgers seem to vary day to day — sometimes I’ve had a big, juicy burger on a nice, fresh bun with lots of toppings, and other times I’ve had a small, dry burger on a very stale bun(ended up tossing the bun and bumming some wheat bread from my roommate) with nothing but a piece of lettuce. Wings aren’t good, but could be worse. Don’t ever even think of ordering the«fried chicken.» Do Shake ‘n Bake instead. Trust me, you won’t be sorry… especially when you pick up and realize they didn’t include half of the sides they promised on the menu… and that the fried chicken is a poor man’s Shake ‘n Bake. I’d give them 1 star if the thin crust pizza wasn’t as good as it is.

They told us(after 1.5 hours) that the driver was on the way, and that the manager was gone. 2 hours later, no pizza. Hmmm… So we cancelled and walked down the street for Thai! I guess it is unfair to put a rank of 1-start since we never actually got pizza, but 2-stars seems fair. They are on my no-way list, but I would have tried them again if when we called they said, «We are running really behind due to someone being out sick(or stoned perhaps), so we suggest that unless you can wait 2 hours for it that you order from someone else but please try us again later»

I’m giving Villa May 5 stars, which may seem a bit crazy at first, but hear me out. They do not have the best pizza, it’s really good, but better exists. What I love about them are the quick delivery times, the friendly drivers, and the friendly people on the phone. Numerous times I’ve called in for delivery, placed an order, and they point out that I could save a bunch of money with a small change to my order. I literally just saved $ 10 and got more pizza thanks to their friendly staff. They could have let me stick with my order and never told me about their special, but they didn’t. Honesty, solid customer service, and consistency is why I’m giving them a 5. If you want to be sure you’re getting a good deal, in a timely manner, and getting a pretty damn good pizza go with these guys. They never disappoint.

I like Villa May a lot and it’s my go-to neighborhood carry out place since I live down the street. If I moved away I wouldn’t miss it but I do like it. The employees are always polite and the pizza is ready for pick up in the promised 20 minutes. One time I ordered a 14″ with 2 toppings and the guy told me that I should just get an 18″ with 2 toppings because it was their special that night and it was cheaper. Thanks pizza dude! One time when I walked in to pick up another employee said to me «Do you want a bottle of soda?» when I said no thanks he said«I’ll just give it to you. Here.» Sweet! Thanks pizza guy. Mommy had some nice RC and Rum that night. They also sell pizza slices and a drink for $ 3.25, and the slices are HUGE.

Villa May disappeared for a while with no explanation. Then when I ordered from a different place that wasn’t as good, the delivery guy said he remembered me because I used to order from Villa May and he used to deliver to my apartment. He explained to me that the owner had died, but they will be opening again soon. After it re-opened I didn’t really see a difference in customer service. They still deliver in less than an hour and the delivery guy always throws in some small talk, which I appreciate. The thin crust pizza would be average except I really love the crust. It’s not tough and overbaked like a lot of thin crust is. It’s crispy and buttery and holds pretty well. Last time I ordered a Margherita pizza, which is one of the wettest pizzas you can get. The crust held together without being too tough. I’m a fan.

Firstly, good customer service, it’s what makes me tick, roll and jump up and down. Now, granted that this is a small pizza place, I appreciated that they didn’t treat me like cattle like big chains tend to do. Both guys there were pretty nice when me and my wife walked in. We ordered a thin crust Cheese Pizza, which was pretty good indeed. My wife ordered a house salad which came pretty quickly. Before we left, the guy asked if we wanted refills. There was no need to ask. One other perk is that is has an HDTV in there(about 42″) that plays pretty normal stuff(NBC, ABC, what not). It also has a neighborhood feel with all the pictures of family and/or customers that they have posted.

These guys made me a calzone even though it isn’t on the menu. I’m not exactly sure how he rung it up, but it was $ 11 with tax. However, what I got was enormous – not the thickest calzone but definitely the biggest I’ve ever had in width and length. It looked like it might have been about a 14″ pizza crust folded over. The calzone was good but not great. The crust was holding it back a bit – very bland and a little tough. Actually, all the ingredients were in 100% perfect proportion – toppings, cheese, sauce, crust – and there was even a nice herb/parmano sprinkle on top. But somehow, it just didn’t seem to add up to more than the sum of its parts. Thus, good but not great. Overall B. I would eat it again if I were up the street and wanted a calzone. This is a straight-up three-star joint that gets an extra star for customer service. Besides agreeing to make me a non-menu item, they were all nice guys.

We’ve received tons of menus from Villa May but ordered for the first time on Friday night, during a horrible storm. I was prepared for a long wait but no, we had our pizza in under 45 minutes. I love that they didn’t laugh at our order(XL thin, half sausage, half spinach, easy on the cheese on the spinach half.) When I saw the receipt, they actually had a code for light cheese. There was the perfect amount of cheese on my spinach half and the right amount on my husband’s sausage half. That alone would make me order from here again! The only downside is that they only had RC or 7up, and nothing diet. I had a beer from home instead.

I’ve been ordering from this place back when they were on Montrose and I was more then happy when they moved closer to my current spot. This place has some of the best thin crust in the city with friend service and fast delivery. The Roman is a personal favorite of mine — you got to try it. I’ve never actually tried any of their ribs or sandwiches as I only get their pizza. I hope their ‘renovation’ is over soon. I found that strange as they’ve been in the building a little less then a year.

I love Villa May. I love them even more since they moved a block from my apartment. They have the most delicious thin crust pizza in my opinion. I love the sauce the cheese. My favorite way to eat this pizza is with jalapenos and Cajun seasoning on it. It is a must try. I also love that i can send my boyfriend to pick up the pizza and not be charged for delivery. I do eat other things off of their menu, but really nothing compares to their pizza, it is goodness. Their pizza and elites everyday would make me a happy camper, and I could do it too!

I have a friend who swears by Villa May. Me – not so much. I’ve ordered from the a few times — especially since they moved up the street from me – and while I have no real complaints, they’re not a stand-out for me. The crust is good, though I can’t say much more about it than it’s crisp(which, believe me, I’m grateful to have), and while they push their three cheeses(mozz, provolone and romano), I don’t really notice a difference. Perhaps I have pizza burnout. I’ve been unimpressed by other things I’ve ordered from them. Their sandwiches are on the small side, and their fried items(onion rings, mushrooms) always seem to be overdone. I may try their pasta dinners, since I’ve read good things about them. Online Order Warning: Villa May is available through both GrubHub and Order network. Their prices are higher on GrubHub. Medium Cheese Pizza: Paper menu: $ 8.25 Order Network $ 8.25 GrubHub: $ 8.49 Mixed Basket Appetizer: Paper menu: $ 7.99 Order Network $ 7.99 GrubHub: $ 8.49 Spaghetti Dinner Paper menu: $ 5.99 Order Network $ 5.99 GrubHub: $ 6.49 What’s that all about?

Tonight was a good night for a little something I like to call«junk drawer surprises.» I’m somewhat of a coupon addict, and therefore my poor little junk drawer is jam packed with menus, coupons, random crap, etc to the point of not being able to find anything… I voyage in there and pick out one, and then that’s what I eat for the night :) Many of them, as it turns out, are from Villa May. They were declared the winner, and I dialed them up to get something in this house that is 1. not canned and 2. not cooked by me. Granted the coupons sort of… sucked. I mean you get a small cheese pizza if you order a $ 2218″ pizza. Hmmm, ok. The 1 liter Diet RC is a good bonus, however RC is somewhat terrible in my opinion… but of course I am drinking it anyway… and«free delivery» should not be a coupon. I digress… somehow the bill was $ 30, plus tip. Hmmm. The pizza itself was quite good, but what the hell’s up with pizza coming in a bag? Yeah, no box. Do you know hard it is to eat pizza on the couch with no box? It’s very challenging. Try that on top of trying to type this review… IMPOSSIBLE, the dog just scored an entire piece and I barely noticed. Quick delivery. Friendly delivery guy. Good pizza. Crappy coupons, but plentiful. They need to get boxes, if/when that happens I will order again… :eats another piece:
