If you get packages shipped here, make sure you pay for an hour of parking as they seem to LOVE customer service so much they spend 5 – 10 minutes checking out someone buying a bag of chips and a head of lettuce. I wasn’t told all my items weren’t in the 1 box I picked up so after getting home I had to drive back only to find yet another disgruntled customer who’s box of items had simply«disappeared» and was nowhere to be found. After waiting 30 minutes my second box was finally found and simply left at a register until I went up to see if it was mine. Also, one manager helping me left on her break and didn’t tell anyone she was«helping» me. Luckily a cashier noticed I had been tapping my foot for 15 minutes and got another of these lovely managers to assist me. Thanks to her I was able to make it back so my parking didn’t expire and we all know that’s the best feeling! Besides getting out of there and not having to go back!

Morning only 1 cashier but the line is long and all self check in machines is so suck, without cash sometimes and need approval sign in from the agent, so you are back to the problem. gruhhh

The majority of this location’s staff exhibits an obvious«no-can-do» or lazy attitude. More often than not, I frequent this store solely due to it’s proximity to my residence and find that items are not restocked and when I ask an employee about additional supply, it is seemingly a chore for them to answer me or actually go check on the product. I’ve seen staff on their cell phone, including the«security guard», who can sometimes be too busy trying to pick up a date than making sure no one shoplifts. Unless you buy the«premium» or organic meats, don’t bother and waste your money. Try not to go on the weekends or during«rush hour», as chances are you will find unstocked items and a staff that is uneducated on the products they sell should you need assistance with anything. The only think keeping this place is business: their cheap prices. I would’ve given the store 1 star, but their pharmacy team earns them an additional star. My advice to the upper management, up the customer service and keep the shelves stocked. You can’t sell products that are hidden in the back, or that are simply not in stock. Isn’t the point of a business to make money?

I don’t care what people say… I love that there’s Walmarts in the city. This one in particular is on my way home from work. It’s quick, convenient and you can’t beat the prices! The only downside is there isn’t a parking lot so street parking can be frustrating at times.

Prices were great. Selection was cool. But the real reason I’m writing review this is the young female cashier working around 10:30 am on 4th of July morning was basically being harassed by an aggravated customer and kept her cool. I was very impressed. This customer wanted to FIGHT. Even after the cashier admitted being wrong just to get the lady out of her face(even though she was NOT in the wrong under any circumstances) the customer just kept pushing and pushing. Maybe get punched by a Wal-Mart employee, maybe get a huge lawsuit in your favor? I’d guess that was the idea the unruly customer was going for? The cashier kept her cool saying, Yes Ma’am…yes…OK…yes…whatever you say, etc. The young gentlemen at the counter, her supervisor, I think, handled himself very well and took over helping get the customer on her way. They basically gave the lady her refund for $ 2 item or whatever and got her out of there, but she was being VERY aggressive and was really trying to start trouble with this poor cashier for a good 5 minutes. The store is very nice and well-kept, but the neighborhood has some really messed up people hanging around, and I guess you’re going to get that sometimes. Thank God for the tough looking security guard there who wears a POLICE vest and seems like he handles situations like this all the time.

So I’m split here. I’m a fan of big box stores since I come from suburbia but I’m also a fan of unique, boutique stores. However, this place is a great addition to the neighborhood. With a place that doesn’t really have that many grocery stores, that many«affordable» convenience stores, etc., Walmart Express was a definite plus. Across the street from Starbucks, this place is extremely convenient and the low Walmart prices have been brought to the area! Right when you enter you’re greeted by instant meals — sandwiches, bad sushi, etc. But so affordable! They have egg salad /tuna salad /chicken salad /ham & cheese /turkey & cheese sandwiches for $ 2.98! That is the only thing that really impressed me besides having a pretty good variety of items that people could potentially want on any given day. I’ll report back if I ever get the urge to try some chilled Walmart Express sandwiches.

When a lady on the bus told me that a Walmart had opened at Chicago and Franklin I didn’t believe her but decided to go and have a look. Very pleasant surprise. This Walmart Express, open for a month now, is ‘way bigger than a convenience store and offers a respectable supply of food and nonfood items. Grocery prices that I noticed run 30% lower than Jewel, Dominicks, or Treasure(Minute Maid lemonade, ½ gallon, $ 1.00; sugar $ 2.28 for 4 lb; Thomas’ English Muffins $ 2.00, Sea Pak Frozen Shrimp Poppers $ 1.67). Nonfood includes housekeeping items, small appliances, stationery supplies, T shirts & socks, toiletries, OTC drugs, hardware, greeting cards, full pharmacy). Location is on the SE corner of Chicago & Franklin, right where you come out of the Brown Line Chicago station if you take the elevator. I forgot to ask about parking.

Oh no everyone run the evil empire has come to Chicago Ave! Seriously, this place is very much needed in this area and provides some great quick shopping. It just opened today and I though I would pickup my lunch from there. They have a nice selection of salads, sandwiches, wraps, sushi, and soup. The grocery section is somewhat impressive with just about everything you could find at Dominick’s or Jewel, but at much better prices. They also have the biggest section of wheat thins that I have ever seen! I might have picked up a box of buffalo wheat thins! This is not a bad spot if you’re looking for a quick and affordable lunch.
