Way late on this, but here I go. I was a regular at Wise Fools for about a year(lived on the other side of the block, had just turned 21). Loved the place to death. The bartenders were great, and the drink prices were unmatched. It was my hangout spot for a year. That’s when the owner, Bill(not sure of his last name), saw the writing on the wall, what with the Children’s Hospital moving, and sold the place. Went there on the last night under Bill, and it was fantastic. The joint was closed for several months afterward, and passing-by was always depressing. Finally, one day, I saw it was reopening, and took a peek inside. It didn’t look much different, but a few weeks later, it certainly did. My brother was in town, and we were walking by, when the new owner tried to get us to come in. I looked through the window, and told him I couldn’t, out of respect to the old days. Call me sentimental, call me what you may, but Wise Fool’s isn’t the same, and I won’t go back. Just had to share. Plus, the drink prices looked like they were marked up about 200% from what they were, which was dirt cheap.
