Zero Degrees Karaoke Bar

My friend bought a groupon, which seemed like a good deal, we were all excited to go karaōke and get some tunes out of our chest. We went in and were greeted by a man, who was very nice, and we told him about the groupon and he pointed at where we could sit and took our drink order. Everything was fine until we decided to go put some music (english). Half way through the song this very rude girl (who seemed to be friends with the man who greeted us) got up and would change our song, she would not let us finish. And I understand this is a mostly asian karaōke bar and maybe American music is not their thing, but we did pay to go there its not like we went there for free and taking turns to play songs would of have been the adult thing to do. The same man who greeted us and his group of friends said something to us when we would put on a song. We finally gave up on singing anything when the girl and two other guys decided to erase our playlist… Its shame because this place has potential but who wants to go to a place that makes you feel uncomfortable because you do not play their type of music? Everyone, please save your money, and DO NOT buy their groupon, it is the most unwelcoming place. You would think they would be happy to get business especially on a saturday night where the only group of people there, were the managers friends. Don’t like writing bad Unilocal reviews but this one had to be done.

I called 2 or 3 other karaōke places on Saturday night and found out they were all booked. This was the first place we could find with availability. We were pleasantly surprised by the entire experience. The English song selection was large and up-​to-​date, the prices were fair, the room was clean, and the service was good. The staff checked in often and addressed our requests. If I lived in the area, I would definitely come back.

On January 3^rd, my friends and I stopped in to sing a few cool tunes, totally on a whim and on my suggestion. We were initially greeted by a very foul odor in the lobby, before we even made it to the second floor. Once we took the elevator up, we were stunned to see that the entire place was empty. My 3 friends and I took a seat on the plush couches and were immediately approached by a waitress who told us that to sit in that area would cost $ 15 per person. Now the place was completely empty so I was in shock that she had the nerve to request that.
So that we didn’t have to pay, we moved to the bar instead. All of the employees seemed to be annoyed, as opposed to being thrilled that they had some business. My friends and I had a few shots, beers and sang 3 songs.
All in all, I doubt we will ever return to this dingy, smelly place but we made the most of the night there any how.

Stopped by after a movie at Icon. Having spent time in Korea, I was excited that I had found a norebang. Parked the car and my friend and I happily went to the second floor. I asked about the room and was quoted 150.00 until 2 am. (it was 10 pm) My friend and I sat at the bar and had a few drinks. The music was a mix of K pop/​Pop/​Japanese. I would recommend this place for a large party and thats about it. I did not get a chance to go to the «private «rooms as their prices were steep. Make sure you bring sufficient cash. This place is a bit pricey, 8 or more for dinks. I will try again in the summer time.

Dark, shady, broken down, smelly. The establishment is questionable just by pulling up to it. It looks like you’re in some industrial part of town, with the single elevator going up to the 2^nd floor. Several karaōke rooms lay around the perimeter of the bar. Song selection seems to be cheesy and of the Asian dubbed music videos. Horrible and tacky. Bathrooms are disgusting and smelly. But I guess if you come somewhat drunk and with a group of friends, things can be fun. Or maybe not so fun. We were in and out, quick as lightning.

This place is probably great if you’re Asian.
I was the only white person here and I felt really out of place and almost as if the bartender were thinking «What are YOU doing here?»
The karaōke selection is interesting in that it has Asian and Western choices, but you can tell the «Western» choices were probably translated by someone whose English wasn’t that great, as the words are often inaccurate. Though it’s interesting to see videos in the background and not just scrolling words.
They’ve got private karaōke rooms that I didn’t experience, I simply participated in the main room with a couple of nice Asian ladies. Though the main room was otherwise unoccupied and a little depressing.
The atmosphere would be comfortable — leather chairs, dim lighting, modern-​looking bar — if not for this strange aspect I can’t quite put my finger on. It could be the neighborhood and the building it’s in… makes me feel like I’m in the beginning of an episode of CSI or something, like a sinister crime is about to take place.
The thing I was most disappointed in was the fact that a non-​alcoholic Shirley Temple (sprite & grenadine) cost me something like $ 4…which is absolutely crazy.

I’ve been coming on and off for years, rarely to sing, but mostly just to stop by for a drink or 2. So yesterday I stop in for my last 3 – 4 drink for the night with 2 friends (who are by the way done drinking and just tagging along so I can drink some more). Why am I just finding out that there is a $ 15 drink minimum per person? And Also who has a drink minimum at a bar. So I pay for my 1 drink that I already ordered and left. Next time I want a drink I’ll take the extra 3 minute drink to Sakura.

Confusing charges. When you book a room there is a minimum, if you do not use it when you come back you have credit for your minimum but still a 15 dollars additional minimum. They do not explain and they surprised you with the bill. Will not be back at all.

I have been here many times and even had my birthday party here. It’s great with a lot of Asian choices. A lot if modern music hits are available as well.
People are definitely fun here and having to see older version of familiar faces from the time I was away is really a surprise for me.

I had a blast here, but it had nothing to do with the place itself… it was all about the people I was with and the fact that I could drunkenly sing Lady Marmalade obnoxiously without any repercussion.
Zero Degrees Karaōke Bar is not amazing, however. In fact, I was thankful I was so drunk while I was there to make the prices seem fine to me… but they weren’t. I may as well given them the PIN number to my debit card.
Buckets of Heineken were almost $ 40. $ 8 for shitty beer? Eff that noise! They should probably use the money they make from ripping people off with their drink prices to invest in some Windex for their dirty ass mirrors in their bathroom!

I met up with a few friends here, who didn’t RSVP in advance, so all the rooms were booked and they could only use the open bar/​karaōke area.
1. Make a reservation for a room if you don’t want to listen/​sing Chinese music all evening. Yes you can request English songs, but most other groups request Jay Chou.
2. Bar area has a $ 15 min per person that you must spend on food/​drinks, but it’s not so bad since they don’t charge you for the actual karaōke
3. Chicken wings were decent

Karaōke is one of those things you cannot do regularly or it loses its fun. We decided to come here for Ginger D’s birthday, and we had a blast. We opted for the private room (which also has a private bathroom, said private bathroom has earned the establishment an EXTRA star), we were given liquor, mixers, ice and left to indulge in our dorky singing selves. Ah it took me back to middle school to sing N’Sync songs and dance like fools. However, Ginger D., Howie M, and I singing «My Humps» should go down in history books as the best memory EVER.
The Chinatown location means parking is hard to find, and the décor is lacking BUT if you want a fun night out with friends, and not have to pay downtown karaōke prices this is the spot for you.

It is my third time having Chinese style Karaōke in the States but it is my first time to be here.
The location… is really bad if you don’t have a car. You have to take red line and then bus and then a 10 mins walk. I don’t know how they can still survive in such a bad location…
Indoor…not fancy, not elite, but I won’t say it is not good. They have individual rooms and open bar area. The quality of the microphone was not very good. I’m not a professional singer and I don’t do karaōke often but most my friends don’t like their microphone and sound system.

We called on Wed to book a room. It was confirmed during the call, but when our group arrived on Saturday night, they told us they never had us down in their book. Screwing up is bad enough because they ruined a special celebration… but they were NOT apologetic about it, we felt like it was our fault for not triple confirming our reservation with them.
To make it worst, it seems like the staff plays favorites with their customers here. Bumping people who legitimately made a reservation is not good business.
Advice to all: if you want to risk coming here, confirm your reservation multiple times and get the name of people you speak with. Good luck.

If you ever fell in love with «Lost in Translation» then Zero is a necessity. I can’t speak to their policies regarding private rooms, but the main space is sleek, modern, and enormous. Giant windows overlook the street, there’s plenty of seating, and drink prices are absurdly low. It’s a great place to just hang out even if you don’t want to sing, but I’d certainly take a group of friends there and rent out a room for an evening. For whatever reason, this place captures a certain sense of romance that’s often lacking in hip/​trendy clubs. The crowd is young and cool, the bartenders are very nice, and even if you go alone you’ll honestly have a good time just being in the moment.

I like this place. It’s pretty chill. I would prefer to only come there when it’s not busy though. It’s only my preference because I like how it could feel like you just invited all your friends to your living room. They don’t mind if you bring in food either. They shouldn’t mind though… because their menu is very limited.
One more thing… why were they playing a few chinese songs for us to sing to??? None of us were Chinese. I know it’s Chinatown but you gotta cater to the guests.

Zero Degree is fairly new, but it’s definitely one of the better karaōke lounges in the Bridgeport area.
Pros:
1) It has an upscale and trendy fixture.
2) Bathrooms are usable and clean, unlike some of the third world pit holes in nearby places.
3) Quick service and well-​mannered staff.
Cons:
1) Elevators occasionally malfunction. I suggest you to take the stairs in the back.
2) The music in the lounge area is too loud for chit chat.
I’ve been here a handful of times and I usually linger in the lobby/​lounge area with a group of friends. Soft, black leather couches, candle-​lit tables, average-​priced cocktails, and bullshit-​dice game equal good times.

This place was POPPIN’ when a friend brought me here late on a Thursday night. It wasn’t really my crowd because I’m an ABC and I kinda stood out, but I still had a good time here! Especially after my friends kept feeding me Johnnie Walker… Black Label, then Green Label, then Blue Label, and Black Label again! Eeeeks! I made friends with the bartenders lol. I was impressed by their pretty extensive and updated English song collection, given that this place is right next to Chinatown.
Will definitely be back!

Whelp, given the fact we were the only white kids, and our song selection was Melissa Ethridge … everybody was super cool! The only bum part was that everything was (I think in Chinese), which I really didn’t think about when I convinced everyone to go there, thinking it was a good drunk idea. Good times nonetheless!

UPDATE: I went again tonight with friends, excited to be singing at my close-​to-​home karaōke bar, and what do I find? They’ve changed their policy and now the room karaōke has a $ 100 MINIMUM! Yes, they have a minimum of $ 100 (M-​T, Sun) and $ 150 (Fri and Sat)! I have never heard of a Karaōke place imposing a minimum of essentially 4 hours of singing (rate is still $ 25/​hour). Also, it’s not like the minimum is an overall tab minimum, so including whatever you order, drinks, etc. The minimum is JUST the singing. I was so put off by this as my friends and I love just popping in and singing for an hour or two. (By the way tonight is a Sunday night and the entire place was empty, yet, there was still a minimum?) I was appalled and I will certainly not come back again unless I am with a large group and I know that we will stay that long anyway. Ridiculous!
In response to the other reviewer: According to the gentleman who worked there, the $ 100 Minimum applies to JUST the singing and not the overall tab. We were sure to ask that.
