Since i was little Burger Hut has been one of my favorite places to eat. Unfortunately, prices have gone up a lot and their portion sizes aren’t much anymore. There are a variety of buns, cheeses and toppings to choose from, which is great and I LOVE their seasoned fries. Also, shakes are amazing!(Definitely worth the little splurge) However, their burgers are at least double the price of In & Out Burger and twice as thin.

I was originally going to give Burger Hut 4 stars but as I thought it over there was no reason to not give 5. Saturday afternoon at 3pm and still crowded, my daughter and I walked up to order for the first time. The menu is limited but doesn’t limit you. Once you’ve ordered your burger patty style and quantity, my daughter ordered her’s rare and was very happy, there is a wide variety of cheese selections for your burger and you have a good selection of fries including garlic and sweet potato along with onion rings. As we were paying several styles of ice cream floats passed us by(definitely ordering next time) and several large mugs of beer passed through as well. While waiting for our order we got our sodas(excellent because syrup seemed to be cranked up so you get a great tasting drink) and looked for a table. Seating was limited for so many tables but it turned over fast. Once they called our name the fun began. Building your own burger from ice cold, fresh condiments is the way to go. Tomatoes, red onion, lettuce, pickles and jalapeños all at your disposal and more. There is even a house made secret sauce as well as several varieties of Sierra Nevada mustards. After we built our burgers and sat down I still had no negative comments to share. We ate our burgers split up our fries(I ordered sweet potato and she had regular, both baskets were way too many fries to eat) and walked out full and happy.

So tonight I decided to try Burger Hut. I ordered a Big Guy Pounder, and a full order of Tater Totts. I asked if they could do it in a luttuce wrap to go, to which they replied in the affirmative, and the total came to $ 18 and some change. I was in a hurry and very hungry, and a little embarrassed by my reaction to such a steep charge. So rather than balk, I paid the money and eagerly awaited my meal. The man who waited on me was courteous and promptly brought me my order… unfortunately I must say that I was bummed to discover what my hard earned money had afforded me! I opened my clamshell to-go box and discovered that the burger wrap I thought I had ordered was in reality 4 previously frozen 4-in-1 food service patties the likes one would expect from McDonalds. They were positioned on top of a piece of lettuce in a manner that closely resembled dominoes that have been set up on edge and knocked over. In between were slices of cheddar cheese. So being unable to eat this pile of meat and cheese with my hands, I grabbed a plastic fork and dug in. It was instantly clear that no seasoning of any kind, not even salt, had ever come in contact with this burger. The cheddar cheese which is normally salty and flavorful gave no satisfaction. The only discernable flavor was greasy, tallowy, and unpleasant. After a few bites, I was unable to subject myself to it any longer as my disgust overpowered my hunger and I was forced to tap out. So on to the totts! The Totts were fresh and plentiful and fried perfectly to a nice golden brown. And although I enjoyed them, they were no match for the shortcomings of the burger. This was equally the most expensive and worse tasting burger I have ever experienced. Perhaps if they would change the name to Tater Tott Hut, and bring the prices back down to earth, I might give them another shot. Until then my pallet will be much better served elsewhere.

My partner’s family lives in Chico so we are in town on a fairly regular basis. She decided to take me to one of the local spots for a burger and fries. Let me start off by saying that I love burgers and fries, especially sweet potato fries. So, I was excited. We ended up going there twice. The first time I got the salad bar because I had eaten too much meat already that day. The salad bar was great for 5 bucks. Nothing fancy, just your basic salad bar fare. It was very similar to the kind of stuff you see on a basic buffet salad bar. We had sweet potato fries the first time. They were really good. They are cut like steak fries. I generally prefer thinner but they were well cooked. The second time, I had mixed feelings. I ordered a ¼lb hamburger on a gluten free bun and we got both the thin regular fries and the ballpark garlic fries. Both types of french fries were delicious. The burger, however, left something to be desired. First off they make no mention(that I saw) on their menu that they heavily season them(as opposed to let’s say some salt and pepper) and that they put a layer of BBQ sauce on them. The burger was over cooked and dry. For a place called«Burger Hut» I honestly expected better. The GF bun was actually really good for being gluten free. It appears that they have a lot of variety including many different types of burgers. Since I take issue with the burger in general, that doesn’t do much for me. Plus almost 2 dollars for some grilled mushrooms and some of their other sides is a bit on the high side, in my opinion. My partner says they have some good shakes which I believe by the look of them. I’m sure we will go back because she likes it, especially for nostalgia’s sake. At least I know to ask for a plain burger now.

I like Burger Hut a lot, but I don’t love it. I go here a few times a year and I’m always satisfied, but not always wanting to go back… at least not right away. I typically get one of a few things. I switch between the burger, hotdog, or chicken strips. The food is great quality and you can really customize what you want. Downside to customization is the fact that all those items add up really quick to make a very expensive meal. I guess that’s the thing that keeps me from wanting to come back more regularly. Great food, great service, high prices. Overall it’s a great Chico place to eat.

Pass this place up, Burgers are nothing special. BBQ sauce is smothered on everthing. Too much money for not even an average burger. I threw the burger away. Fries were greasy and cold. Threw them out. Staff were young and had attitudes.

I can’t say enough good things about Burger Hut, its my go to place for burgers in town! Burgers are delicious, hot right off the grill, plenty of fresh toppings to add to them and the fries are massive in the amount you receive! Add in the special seasoning to the fries and they are out of this world good! My girlfriend loves the sweet potato fries, super yummy and the garlic fries are amazeballs! If you have room for dessert, try the milkshakes made with real icecream!

Great burgers, friendly staff. Not as clean as I would like to see. I always eat on the patio with my dog which could use a good pressure washing. The inside is standard for a «fast food» joint. I have yet to try the shakes but hear they are awesome.

First I’ll start by saying that they serve really high quality beef — pasture raised on small family farms. As a socially conscious carnivore, I like knowing where my meat comes from and I don’t mind paying a bit more for the good stuff. That being said, I just can’t get on board with Burger Hut. Every time I eat there I am left underwhelmed with the size of the burgers, and overwhelmed with the size of the bill. We had 5 burgers, a family sized order of fries and an order of onion rings. No sodas, just water(we’re well hydrated like that), and our bill was $ 46. Seriously. I had to look at the receipt to make sure they hadn’t accidentally charged us for something else. And this is an order-at-the-counter, seat yourself, wait 15 minutes, build-your-own burger joint. I would expect to pay that in a nicer place, but not here. Another issue: my hubs paid extra for a bigger burger, which they mixed up with my order. Wrong cheese and bun on both. When we asked the cook to fix it, he replied that he could just change out the cheese or he could cook us two new ones, but that it would take a long time, since the line was pretty long. Didn’t seem to care one way or the other if we were happy with our orders. On the plus side: they were doing a fundraiser for a local school(which is why the line was so long), so presumably some percentage of the sales were donated. Bottom line: Meh, skip it.

This place’s hamburgers were delicious. There’s not much else to say about it. My wife and I came here with her grandma and we each got a burger and were highly satisfied with what we got. I would definitely recommend this place to others. Just FYI, this place does ordering kinda like five guys so there’s no waiters, but instead you order your food upfront and wait until they call your number and then go grab.

Burger Hut is awesome, you build your own burger if you don’t like it its probably because you suck at building burgers.

As A Novelty of,“Build Your Own” Burger became a Norm. Burger Hut Excelled at it. Service is quick, Portions are Huge, Price is not slacking either. Once you receive your Burger, a trip to the Build Up Bar is mandatory. You start with basically a plain bun, burger with BBQ sauce under the cheese. add anything that you want. Make it as huge or dainty and you wish, Definitely worth a visit.

Burger hut is spread out across three locations in Chico. The food is identical but the experience is different. Overall this location makes a great ‘neighborhood special’ and I always enjoy the burger bar to make it. Their sauce is AWESOME.. . seriously they should bottle that stuff and sell it, it’s great for fries too! In-n-out is good but you’ll get a great meal here, and leave satisfied! It’s worth it.

A great place to go with a large group to have a solid burger, deliciously hot fries(tried the garlic, sweet potato and regular fries and they were all wonderfully crispy and well seasoned) and beer on tap. I like that Burger Hut has a fixings bar so you can pile all the pickles, lettuce and tomatoes you want on your burger. Like Roy Rogers, but fresher. The Sierra Nevada mustards were also excellent. The burgers are on the small size, but appropriately priced. The beef patties all have BBQ sauce on them already, which was fine with me since I love BBQ sauce. There was plenty of seating and the service was fast and friendly. I went with about 15 people and everyone left happy(even the vegetarians in the group).

I still give it a 5, but, Oh Lordy, will I say something bad about Burger Hut? I didn’t like the sweet potato fries. Sorry BH. It tasted like you put pumpkin pie spice on them… all wrong. Perhaps we can get them without pumpkin… I love your new 1⁄3 pound burger pattie as it is more like our home cooked. Who the he! makes burgers at home the thickness of two sheets of cardboard? They would be forced to turn in their apron.
