Wow! What a wonderful hamburger and the fries are yummy. Definitely a high recommendation would eat here every single day.

I really enjoyed my burger and onion rings. The cheese skirt was great! Staff was really friendly. It’s a really tiny place and not a lot of seating but we were able to find a spot outside on a beautiful day so it worked out perfectly.

Great food! We managed to get here before the rush, and Man was it busy. I loved my Petite and onion rings. My friend didn’t care so much for his mushroom jack, will try something else possibly next time. Samoa girls out cookie shake could have done with more Girl Scout cookie. All in all a pleasant experience.

What can I say this place rules the town of Chico! Really great prices for great quality burgers, very impressed with the service but even more impressed with the taste! Having been to top burger joints in the US I can easily say that Nobbys is up there! Try the double with fries it’ll blow you away

Update: I further am lowering my review on Nobby’s It is no longer the best in the area, honestly I think the food has gone down hill in the last few years and I can think of several places that trounce it solidly within a few minutes drive. Sierra Nevada, Burgers and Brew, and Petes just off the top of my head. And of course Righteous burger in O ville. To their credit though the odd hours thing seems to have improved and you can actually count on them being there most of the time.

I went here on a Friday(yesterday, to be exact), around noon after getting off of work early. The line was almost out the door, so I figured it had to be good. I waited a few minutes to get to the front of the line. I ordered the Nobby burger with everything, added cheese(I wanted to try the famous cheese skirt), and a small order of fries. I ordered to go and waited maybe 15 minutes for my order. Once I got home, I eagerly opened the bag. The portion of fries was huge, but the fries themselves were nothing special.(I still ate most of them). The burger bun was nice and shiny, but not overly greasy. I like that it was toasted… made all the difference. However, I was totally bummed when I saw the cheese skirt. It was completely dry, not black but effectively burnt. Not a drop of moisture left, like a parmesan frico baked way too long. I wasn’t sure if it was supposed to be like that, so I tasted it, and it was bitter. I broke off the whole cheese skirt because it would have otherwise ruined a pretty solid burger. I would have waited a few more minutes for a skirt done right(had I actually eaten in and discovered it on-site), especially since I paid extra for the cheese. When I cook for clients, if it’s not done right, I toss it and start over, because they deserve better.

This place was great… gotta take a star away only because this«cheese skirt» I’d heard so much about was a bit skimpy… boo…skimpy skirts are for women not burgers… lol!

I have heard nothing but good things about Nobby’s for years, so I thought it was time to try it. I walked in and it was a casual small spot with cool décor. I ordered the double burger and made sure it was going to have a cheese skirt. I got my burger and boom, where is the cheese skirt? I only had two pieces of cheese that were small with just a little crispness on the side. The bun was good and meat was good. But at the end it was a normal diner burger. It may have been an off day, or perhaps I ordered wrong. I shall never know. I also tried the hot dog, again the bread was good, the dog was not bad.

Nice and simple burger joint. No frills. Great reasonably priced burgers. Just got the simple Nobby burger 1⁄3 lb w/cheese. They do a «cheese skirt» on their burgers. If you don’t know what that is, you are about to discover a magical cheesical experience! RECOMMENDATION: leave the toothpick in until you are about to bite it. Helps keep the burger from slip sliden and getting all Carl’s JR on ya! Also do not consume burger while on a baby blue tux! Got an order of onion rings — melt in your mouth good. Wife got a chocolate shake so thick she could cut it with a knife. Yummy! Kid grilled cheese was a great gooey grilled cheese. Ever catch yourself looking at your kids food and think, «I could just take that away and eat it, and they couldn’t stop me», grass is always greener in the other yard. Anywho check it out.

I recently posted a negative review – not of the food, but the service(or lack thereof). Within days, I received an email of apology from«Carrie J.» and an offer to come back by way of a free meal. Not one to turn down a free meal, especially a bomb Nobby’s burger and fries, I went back last week to indulge. The cashier was amazing – she acknowledged my prior experience in a way that was sincere and professional, and went out of her way to ensure that my lady and I had fantastic service. Having 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, I can tell you that«follow up» is one of the most important, yet frequently overlooked, aspects of providing memorable service. The advent of Unilocal, when used properly by the business, provides a vital connection between consumer and business owner to gauge success or failure in day-to-day operations. I have posted negative reviews of some places that I never hear from, and I have posted negative reviews of some places that straight up delete them(favoring online appearance over substance/accountability). That«Carrie J.» of Nobby’s was so swift and sincere in dealing with my concerns speaks volumes of how much she truly cares about her customers and the success of her business. Chico is a town with an abundance of eating options, but a dearth of quality establishments that are willing to invest energy and time into«getting it right». Nobby’s is truly the exception, not the rule here – and I will continue to enjoy and recommend this restaurant over any other burger joint in town. Bravo, and thank you!

This is the best burger I’ve ever had in Chico! Firstly, I can appreciate that they don’t use Nieman Ranch beef. Nobby’s burgers were hot, juicy, and flavorful. My mom and I both ordered Nobby Burgers to our preferences. Our burgers were fresh and hot throughout all consumption. Along with my extra pickles, I tasted all flavors of my burger. Nothing was overwhelming. We also added the cheese skirts to our burgers. I’m super happy they have that option because I haven’t order a burger with a skirt since Squeeze Inn in Sacramento. We split the onion rings, fresh and hot as well. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Huge, flavorful burgers about sums it up! I’d heard a lot about the place whenever I was in the area and read great reviews. But never made it in till this past Friday night. It was super busy,(that’s a good sign) and the wait was worth it. The burgers were just huge and very flavorful. I’m moving to the area soon and I’m totally eating here again.

I had heard so much about this place and finally had a Nobby Burger for lunch today. The white paper wrapper it came in gave way to a shocking sight. The bun was soaked in grease and beef juice to the point where parts were falling off. One of the tomatoes had a green core. The cheese, which is supposed to be a selling point, just tasted stale. Huge letdown for all the hype this place has. Also, cash only in 2015? Go to Best Buy and buy a Square, they’re 10 bucks.

Cheese, cheese, cheese, cheese, cheese, and bacon. The nobby burger with cheese and bacon is the BEST cheese burger in town. They do not skipm on anything although, i prefer my burger with just mayo ketchup and pickles. The staff is great, the cheese is real, and oh my goodness they are so damn cheesy(in the best way possible). ;)

This is a solid burger joint, but nothing particularly special. Ingredients are fresh but not remarkable. Hamburger patty on the Nobby’s burger(the most highly recommended) is not particularly flavorful but at 1⁄3 lb, it is good-sized. In my opinion the quality of the bun can make or break a burger; in this case the bun elevates this burger from a two star to a three star. It was delicious soft and piping hot. Nonetheless there’s something missing here, something nearly undefinable. The ingredients are quality, the staff is friendly. The food takes a little while to arrive but every order is cooked fresh, so that’s not unreasonable. If nothing else, I have to go with what has been said in other reviews: there is nothing particularly signature about this place, other than its history and reputation in Chico. It’s good, but not great. There needs to be something signature, something to elevate Nobby’s above the background noise of burger joints and pub food in a California college town. Tacos Tijuana is directly across the street; barring any seismic changes in Nobby’s menu, I think I’ll go there next time.

Solid burgers, and if you’re lucky, you get the«skirt» cheese. I was not so lucky, but I enjoyed my burger anyway — the Nobby burger w/cheese and ortega chilies. 2 nice slices of chilies, instead of a dollop of diced… They don’t ask you how you want your burger cooked here. It doesn’t really matter; it comes out great. This burger, well, MY burger, was not as unctuous as say, Nation’s or Red Onion in the Bay Area, and if I’m gonna eat a burger, that’s what I want — I want juices dripping down my arm and onto my lap. BUT — It may just depend on what you order. Some pics on their Unilocal page clearly prove me wrong. My experience was definitely a good one — all 3 of them have been good so far! But next time, I’m going to request extra cheese skirt. The vanilla shake was excellent. Nice and thick, really flavorful. Serve-yourself water and cups are available. There is not much seating inside and they DO fill up. Our group of 5 was very lucky to walk in at 7:00 on a Saturday night and get a table, but I was rubbing elbows with the guy at the table behind me because quarters are close! There is outdoor seating when weather permits. Fries are FANTASTIC. Onion rings are EXCELLENT. Piping hot, and FRESH. Service is friendly. You order at the counter, then they deliver to your table. For vegetarians, they do offer a veggie burger. AND you can also get a ¼ lb beef hot dog(though not recommended for the vegetarians). The children’s menu is limited to a grilled cheese or chicken tenders. If your child likes orange cheddar cheese, and an obscene amount of it at that, the grilled cheese is going to be a hit. Go figure, my daughter doesn’t like fried foods, and she doesn’t like orange cheddar cheese. It would be nice if they offered sliced cucumbers or carrots as a side dish; something NOT fried. Next time, I think we’ll go for the hot dog. Too bad they can’t offer a nice aged, white Vermont cheddar. If you’re ever in Chico, give Nobby’s a try. Don’t go on Sunday. It would be good to call ahead to make sure they’re open.
