We just bought a new house in Chico, and started seeing some small bugs and spiders, so we ordered a pest service. One of the problems with ordering pest services is most companies make you sign a year contract before they’ll treat your house. I wasn’t crazy about the idea, but we went ahead with it. The tech came out, he was very polite, but didn’t have the attention to detail I would have liked. He asked me to open one of our garage doors to spray there where my wife had seen some bugs, but he didn’t ask about the other garage. I was working at home and on the phone at the time, so I didn’t have a lot of time to give him direction. When he left, he left an invoice saying he had sprayed for bugs and swept for and removed spiders. Later that afternoon, my wife came home from work and went to the garden. When she did, a black widow jumped out right from the foundation of the house, where there’s a little lip at the stem wall. I looked under the lip, and saw a nest there, which I then removed. I looked under the rest of the stem wall, and saw there were several other spider webs. I don’t think it had been swept. We called the company, and they sent the tech back the next day to sweep, which he did, which is why I give them two stars and not one. But again, the tech was in and out. So I called back the next day to request a different technician. I asked if we could have someone who was perhaps a little more experienced, with a little more attention to detail. The person who answered the phone told me a supervisor would call me back… well, when that didn’t happen, I called back again and told them I wanted to exercise my right to cancel the contract within 3 days. When I left that message, that’s when the supervisor finally returned my call. I told him at that point, I’d rather not commit to a year of service with them, that they had not made a good first impression on me. The supervisor did agree to cancel the contract, but still charged me the full $ 125 for the initial service. I told him I didn’t think that was fair, since they hadn’t really done the job, and he began arguing with me. When that happened, I knew I had made the right decision in terms of canceling. If you go with these guys, I would make sure to schedule a time so you can walk around with the tech on the first visit to make sure they do a thorough and detailed job. But who really wants to have to do that when you hire a service professional? Note: I’m a different Joe B than the other reviewer listed here.

Our techs name is Josh and he is the best! He always returns our calls and comes out immediately if we have a problem. He is a hard worker and an all around nice guy! We are very happy with our service.

This is an update to my earlier review. They still have never called or stopped by to give me an estimate(and yes they have my address). Will never use them.

I called Clark because a rat was destroying things(like my washing machine) in my garage. They came out the same day, which was great. The problem is I had to sign a year long contract amounting to over $ 600 before he would do anything at all. I have no other pest problem other than the rat. I was desperate so I signed. He never checked my attic because he didn’t have a tall enough ladder. He set some traps and that was it. He caught a rat, I fixed the places where they were getting in and that was the end of it. Except that I still am billed every two months for $ 87. I suppose he shows up, but I don’t know what he does as the ants are still alive and well and they are the only other pestlike thing around here. I spoke with a rep on the phone and told her I wanted to discontinue my service and she told me that it was good insurance against getting pests in the future. I repeated that I would like to discontinue service, and she finally said that she didn’t have authority to do that. I would have to talk to her supervisor and she said she would have her call me. That was a week ago and I have yet to receive that phone call. I know I was at fault for signing the contract, but I think people should be aware that is the deal with this company and if you are not going to want ongoing pest eradication you should call a different company.
