Denine’s Cupcakes

Store is clean and vibrant. Staff is nice. Display cases are extremely adorable. Their cupcakes are good. I enjoyed the Quincy (carrot cake cupcake), but compared to other cupcake bakeries they were much smaller for the price. One cupcake is $ 3.00.

I went here for the first time in December of last year and I just thought it was okay. I went another time and started to like it more each visit. The cupcakes are moist and delicious. As for the inside of the place, it is very comforting and vibrant. I just wish the cupcakes were a little bigger and had a little less frosting. They can be pricey, but they are so delicious, so I usually empty my wallet whenever I stop by for some cupcakes. All in all, it’s worthy of being on my list of best cupcake places.

To keep it short and sweet, these cupcakes are THE BEST. Without guilt– I can tell you they are always on my mind. And the owners are so friendly and so sweet, there is no reason I wouldn’t support this business!

I ordered cupcakes for daughter in laws birthday and they sold some of them before I got there. I wasn’t late, and they said they would hold them until I got there. It was an hour drive. Fortunately, I was able to get cupcakes somewhere else. They weren’t very pleasant about it and acted like it was my fault they sold them. It was the owner and I was disappointed with her attitude.

Yummmmmm! I bought a 4 pack for my boyfriend for his birthday and boy was he excited! Red velvet, Nutella, sour patch (not as good as the others) and 1 gluten free chocolate for me :) I almost wish that I didn’t discover that they have gluten free… this is dangerous!
Oh and did I mention a box of 4 is only $ 12?! Not too shabby!

The cookies and cream cupcake is the best! Great service and adorable décor. But you have to get in early to get good flavor choices! By the end of the day you run the risk of not finding cookies and cream: S and trust me… you need this in your life.

The bakery smelled Devine of soft baked goodies. The building décor was cute and clean. I had their chocolate cupcake. It was small and moist. The frosting tasted sweet, thick and heavy. 3 dollars for one cupcake.

Thoughts in order of occurrence:
–Damn! $ 3 per cupcake!
–Wow! This is great!
–How do they get the cake so moist?!
–My husband better stop eyeing my cupcake like that!
–I would pay $ 5 per cupcake!

I’m not a huge cake eater but I sure was in love with their cupcakes. Their staff was over the top friendly and willing to tell us all about the fun flavors they create each day. Definitely worth a trip if you are in the area!

This is my first review on Unilocal.Absolutely LOVE this sweet little shop. They have such a great frosting (and I’m not the frosting type. At all). They even make little mini cupcakes of certain flavors. The décor is so cute and has local touches. If you’re looking for the perfect cupcake. Stop at Denines!

Amazing cupcakes oh my gosh… I am not from chico but visit frequently and will definitely stop here for a dozen every time! Plus the people were super friendly, the frosting amount on top was the perfect amount and the cake part was moist. Love this place and the best so far that I have had in Northern California.

Not only is the place very cute with lovely decorations and friendly staff, it’s organized and simple. Cupcakes are color-​coded so it matches the menu and there are specials every week. The environment and feel of the shop is definitely fantastic. It’s a nice little place to stop and grab a nice sweet and drink some milk/​hot chocolate, etc before heading out to wherever. I’d use this place to meet up with people before heading anywhere else.
LET IT BE KNOWN though that the cupcakes ARE 3 dollars each. And no, they’re not any bigger than regular cupcake sizes. But for a store that’s won America’s best cupcakes contest, I’m not surprised they’re charging so much. The variety of items on the menu are small (as in, they’re aren’t that many drinks options and other stuff) but of course, this is a cupcake bakery, not a general bakery, so they won’t have as many things.
It’s definitely a place worth checking out if you’re still having doubts.

A small, cute, little cupcake/​coffee shop in downtown Chico. A bit steep, but I can it see as a perfect location to sit down with some friends, grab a coffee, and enjoy some cupcakes. Or a date. Depending on what you’re into, but, since I don’t have a date, I’ll just sit around and have existential, philosophical discussion about the enigmatic minds of cupcake enthusiasts with friends and the meaning of life in the eyes of a cupcake.
Friendly staff as well, which brings me to believe that the meaning of life is cupcakes and smiles.

If they were open until midnight Thurs-​Sat and offered peanut butter frosting they would make a killing (vis a vis diabetes).

Great little shop in prime downtown– super product, friendly and fast service, very comfy seating and nice artwork done by local children. My 11 year old girlfriend loved it. Make sure you check out the timeline in the bathroom of what the location was previous to Denine’s all the way back to the 1880’s!
I will definitely go back to Denine’s!

I don’t know who Anne and Jennifer are but they are confused! This place is amazing! I almost never rate places as a 5 star. The cupcakes are SO good and the customer service is amazingly great! The guy at the counter was really nice. The décor in this place is also so perfect and the bathroom! How cute!

Wow. I was kinda left feeling rather DISAPPOINTED. Here is why:
1. Basic Cupcake Menu: nothing original: vanilla, chocolate, carrot cake, etc… not one original or unique cupcake flavor.
2. Price: WHOA! $ 3/​cupcake? Wow. I know they are in a downtown location and have higher rent, but to transfer that over into a SMALL SIZED cupcake with boring cupcake flavor options… eh? Flavor? Cake was moist and good, but the frosting was crazy sweet… actually had a stomach ache 5 minutes later.
3. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Here is where it really sealed the deal of «no return» for me. The fella was cordial, but definitely did not convey gratitude or happiness for having the ONLY customer w/​my child, in the bakery. Then, another employee (maybe the owner I think) came out, didn’t even acknowledge us, more of a courtesy glance, then as we were leaving, NOT EVEN ONE OF THEM, said «thanks for coming in, we hope to see you back!». Nope, nothing at all.
4. Also, you shouldn’t have dirty tables riddled with crumbs, when you have absolutely no customers in the place. Our table was filthy, as were others, plus they didn’t even give us a plate to eat our cupcakes on, just a napkin… and I asked for water, WATER!!! NOT EVEN SOME COMPLIMENTARY WATER??? NOPE, had to pay for it. Sad.
So, in summary, I would and will take my money elsewhere. Where the employees are way more personable (cheerful, kind, appreciative, etc…). GO TO CUPCAKE CRUSADER OR LOVELY LAYERS CAKERY PLEASE!

Dissapointing. These cupcakes are dry, lacking flavor and small. A cute shop and colorful marketing does not make a good cupcake. Honestly I do not expect this shop to make it to a year, although the location is good.
To the person who reviewed named Jaclyn, obviously you have never eaten a decent cupcake before or you are somehow friends with The owner. I would love for Denine to make a good cupcake which Is why I am writing this review. Go back to basic cake making and work on the moisture and flavors. Try a little salt to bring out the flavors. The smaller cakes were even drier, so, don’t do them unless you can do them well! I hope you take what I am saying as constructive criticism because I really do want you to succeed. If the cake is good then size will not matter.

In Chico for the day and stumbled upon the CUTEST cupcake boutique. The lemon cupcakes were DELICIOUS– super moist and lemony sweet.
