The selection of items is good, but the customer service is erratic. Looking for a fire extinguisher, I asked for help and was told that the store did not carry fire extinguishers. They do; I found one myself. Asking for mothballs, I was sent to the pesticide section even though mothballs are in house cleaning materials. What I really dislike, though, is the stupid loyalty club nonsense. The checkout lines are slow because everyone has to give their phone number, at least once. If OSH weren’t so convenient, I would not shop there.

I guess I don’t look like your normal customer. Due to this, I couldn’t get anyone to help me. The lazy employees avoided me like the plague.

The customer service we have received from OSH has been great, the employees are very friendly and knowledgeable and always around if we need any help. Would recommend if you live on this side of town

How terribly disappointing that OSH store #381 is less than a mile from my home yet the customer service is so bad I have stopped shopping there in favor of stores that are 5 miles down the highway. The last 3 times I was in the store were atrocious. The last time I was there it took over 15 min to get an employee to cut an order of various plastic tubing lengths and diameters. When the employee showed up he was amazingly rude and even used profanity. At which point I told him where to shove it and drove across town to a competitor where I was promptly helped in a professional and friendly manor. To top it off I saved at least 5% if not more. They do have decent prices on some items(great Christmas trees in 2012) but in general their prices are on par with other similar retailers. What they really had going for them was location and selection but if you have to interface with the employees beyond paying on the way out forget it. I’ll never go back on principal alone. It would seem by the number of similar reviews that I am not alone in my experiences. I hope Lowes buys them up and cracks down on this kind of nonsense like they did in 72 other locations.

Tried to flag down employees to help find an item. Just looked at me and continued walking. After 10 minutes of searching and being ignored, I found the item myself. Waiting in line I was told another checker would help me after I had already waiting in her line. Had to wait behind others after I had made it up to the register. Very frustrating.

Things I like: They often have good sales on garden tools, fertilizers, plants, etc. they often offer weekend coupons for 20% of one item of customers choice, or 10% of whole purchase. They sell very healthy citrus trees. In the Spring they have a great selection of veggie starts and at some point will sell these starts for $ 1.50 a plant which is a nice deal for large tomato and pepper starts which are hard to start from seed without a greenhouse or grow light set up. Thing that could be improved:: Customer service is mediocre. Not bad, but not especially memorable. The cashiers are usually fine, but the staff in the nursery and aisles seem really irritated if you ask them for help. This doesn’t make me want to ask any questions of them, which reduces my spending in this store on some occasions when having someone helpful could support my desire to buy something I need.

I do like having OSH near by, but it is a mixed blessing. While they have a good selection of products, they seem to employ less-than-service-oriented folks. The employees don’t seem to want to be bothered with helping you out and the place is always(or seems to always be) understaffed. Don’t expect to «run in really quick» for something. You can usually find stuff ok, but paying for something takes a long while. Usually one cashier(when I have been there) and departments are under-manned.

Everytime I go there I can never get a clear answer to my issue. For example in plumbing I explained a specific part I needed and I had to talk until I was blue and still got a blank responce. Been here well over 40 times since I live down the street and barely am able to stomach going in beacuse of the lack of caring or knowlege of the staff. The garden center & loading boys in the back do a pretty good job but the floor people are clueless and indirectly rude. I find myself going there only to walk out and drive across town to home depot or lowes because A: they dont have what I need B. am recommended the wrong part for somethign regularly or C: there prices are about 15% higher than competition in town. They need to seriously step up there game…

I see where someone said that there was ample parking, well there is a reason for this… they have cut their staff so much that you cant get any help I have been there 5 times in the last two days… I will never go back! I walked out today without buying any paint that i went for… I will will be willing to bet that OSH will not be there this time next year… any takers? its 9÷14÷11

This place has a great selection of spray paint… I mainly go there for that but you can’t really go wrong with stores like these. I just love em!

I like this place. The staff is friendly, not as large as Home Depot or Lowe’s, but while the selection is not as diverse, the size gives it its charm.

The help at OSH is usually a step up from Home Depot and some items are of a little higher quality. This is a nice OSH because there is plenty of parking and if you need Lunch Togos is right next door.

This is actually a paired review… one bad… one good… look for my review of Colliers as well. On to the bad… I’d really like to like OSH… I really would. They are close to me, the pricing is competitive, the store is big and open, they have plants… but… I just can’t. The reason I can’t is that the service at this particular store… #381 to be exact… are just robot like avatars(to steal another’s metaphor) well mostly… I’m gonna give my props to the guys in the drive through pickup who have been nothing but super! Shout out to the boys in the back! Here is a typical story… The other day I needed some wire mesh fabric for my raised bed planters because I have gophers. I’ve seen it there before and voila. they don’t make me buy a whole roll. So in I go. thinking its going to be a breeze. I locate my fabric, ensure which one I want and then waltz over to the tool corral to get someone paged to come cut the fabric for me. The young woman at the corral paged someone for me. Back over to the aisle… wait… foot tapping begins… wristwatch gazing begins… Ten minutes go by… I’m looking down the aisles… no staff on the floor. So, back to the tool corral and another page… back to the aisle… Another ten minutes go by… so… time to leave… what can I say? I’m trying to give them my money! So… I’m wandering out the door… and lo! A management type is walking by… I stop him and ask him if he is supervision… He says… why yes! I’m the Customer Service Manager. Ah… my luck is turning. So I begin to relate my experience to him… His response? «I’m sorry but there is nothing I can do for you right now. Corporate has cut my staff so that I only have one person on the floor.» Frankly, I’m flabbergasted. Does he offer to go cut the fabric for me? No. Does he tell me how to make an official complaint? Not until I ask him how to do it(You go to the corporate website btw…). His take on the situation? Until enough customers make complaints to corporate he’s basically scr&***ed. This is fairly typical of my dealings with the staff at this particular OSH. After 20 years in retail I can tell you I know when a staff has been whupped and this staff is whupped. They hate working there and they make it plain to the customers that they don’t care…
