This place is wonderful! Authentic recipes everything we have had here is absolutely delicious. The staff is so friendly and love their patrons. It is also very clean and pleasant setting. Can’t wait to go again!!!

Run by an older couple Peter Chu’s is visit to a different time. The décor is a throwback to a time when Chinese cuisine was in its infancy in America. This place in its day must have been great. Reception: Auntie was courteous and seated us promptly Cleanliness: Place settings were there and tea cups were placed with bottoms up Wait time: Wait time in between food was average Food: Typical Chinese American fare, I was surprised when they had Peking duck on the menu and pleasantly surprised that it needed to be ordered two days in advance(proper cooking) Overall not bad this is 3.6 therefore a 4

This place is glorious. Great family run establishment that is not too loud like most dinning halls. The staff is very friendly and adds an extra touch of caring which sorely lacks at big chains. The food is good and service is better. It tis also located beside All the Best video so perhaps dinner and a movie is a foot. Enjoy.

We had the place to ourselves. Service was spot on. We ordered two lunch specials and hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup was thick, delicious, and just the right amount of spice. It was so good that both the wife and I didn’t really want to much more. The soup could have been lunch unto itself. Though my wife did enjoy her sweet and sour chicken quite a lot. It just did not compare to the awesomeness that was the hot and sour soup.

I did a to go order of Mongolian beef and vegetable chow mien. The staff was very friendly, the food was good but not great. The Mongolian beef had a very watery sauce. I would give this 3 ½ stars. Worth eating at.

I ordered food to go and it was awful! The pot stickers were soggy and had a very bland taste, and the sauce for them tasted old. The house won ton soup was all broth which I usually enjoy, more broth the better usually but it was so bland. There were only 2 won tons in it with about a tblsp of meat in them with all won ton wrapper soggy floating in the soup and all the vegetables were cut into pea sizes and there weren’t much of them. I also got broccoli beef and general chicken which tasted like dirty oil and the vegetables were undercooked(almost raw) and the meat was a nasty color and had terrible flavor. I was really disappointed and would not recvomend this restaurant at all!

We decided to try this place since our regular spot wasn’t open yet. We walk in and are told that they are having a party, but they’ll take us anyway. Since I saw a dim sum menu, I thought I’d give it a shot. Ordered dim sum and they were out of one I ordered. I will say that except for the soup, everything was hot. The mushu pork was a little odd, with zucchini and really thick pancakes. Hmmm

They have the best Chinese food in town. You can tell it’s all made fresh with local produce. The people working here are always friendly and do a good job of taking care of my group and I. The only reason they didn’t get 5 stars is because one of my visits there they saw my headlights 15 minutes before close and came out and locked the door so that we wouldn’t come order food.

The generals chicken is bomb dig! You can make your entrée a complete dinner and that gives you corn soup also mad good with won tons and a egg roll and rice comes out with your entrée. So the funny thing, this place is across from Panda Express its a little more money but way more delicious probably healthier and its never busy which I don’t understand but I like that too. The people are super nice they make me feel welcome and the one lady already knows my order.

Peter Chu’s is run by a sweet older couple. The food is decent and reasonably priced for lunch, moderately expensive for takeout for dinner. If you want a quiet Chinese spot with pretty good food this is it.

This is the only place I know in Chico where you can get dim sum so that’s why I go here but it’s way to expensive. The dim sum is ok but I’ve had dim sum from San Francisco so I’m spoiled. But again way to expensive. The quality of the other items are subpar as well. If this place was cheap I’d give it 3 stars. But only as a cheap Chinese food spot which this is not. So if you want dim sum go for it. If you’re not getting dim sum don’t bother with this place.

Although the name is Peter Chu’s Mandarin Cuisine, they also have some Thai curry dishes, teriyaki and dim sum. I had lunch there with my in-laws today. All three of us ordered from the dinner menu. The 3 of with iced tea and an extra side dish, got by for $ 47. I had spicy Mongolian lamb, one in-law had lamb & snow peas and the other had teriyaki chicken. We also had a side of pork-fried rice. We were all more than happy with the flavor and amount of food served. Also great service.

My friends & I were looking for Asian food and happened to drive by and went in. The hostess seated us and we glanced at the menu — the prices are quite steep for Chinese food! There were two guys(they looked about 18 years old) sitting across from us and I could tell by their body language they were like, «Oh shit, this is expensive!» Needless to say, they ended up walking out, with only their water glasses left behind. I was having quite a sticker shock myself, not expecting to spend $ 15 to eat. They do somewhat make up for it by offering to make any entrée a meal for $ 3.00 more. Anywho, I ordered almond chicken — it came with an egg roll, won tons, and rice. It was supposed to come with hot tea, but the waitress must have forgot and I didn’t remember either until the end of the meal. The waitress is very attentive — it was actually quite funny because she would not allow for our waters to go empty. You take one sip and she will come and fill the glass to the rim. LOL. It was entertaining to watch. Overall, the food was very good and the service was great, but the price was a bit TOO high. DELICIOUS, though. Okay fine, I am giving this place 4 stars but I’d say 3.5÷4 just for being a bit expensive.

I went here hoping to find some good Dim Sum in Chico, but was disappointed. We ordered a variety of Dim Sum and some of it was OK and some was not so great. Mushy and tasteless. The owner was very kind to us and even had the cook re-make one of our dishes when I pointed out that it was not up to par. It still did not taste very good. Oh well, I guess this is not the place for Dim Sum in Chico. I will keep looking…

this is far, but the only place in chico that serves dim sum that’s not a buffet. Dim sum isn’t even that good. Service is good as Peter Chu or the owner checks up on you to see how things are. Parking lot in front.

We just visited Chico and my whole family was in the mood for dim sum. We passed by Peter Chu’s, saw their dim sum sign, and decided to give it a try. My mom is asian and my sis and I are dim sum fanatics so we also try it in every major city in any hole-in-the-wall place for it. Now the dim sum here was ridiculously expensive for what is considered the norm price. Two big char sui baos were like $ 3.75! Everything else from an order of three dumplings to sui mai were $ 3 – 4. There wasn’t much variety either. The char sui bao was tasty though and bigger than normal size, but the dumplings were just alright. For ppl that are accustomed to the normal prices and wide selection of dim sum in places in Sac. or San Fran., this isn’t the place to go. We also tried the lunch specials and each plate was about $ 8 – 9. We shared but the portions were small, big enough for just one person. The lunch bento boxes were also pricey at about $ 11 each. The food tasted good and they also provided soup and little won ton appetizers. Service was very attentive and friendly. But perhaps a little too much so. Our water glasses would only be down a half an inch before they would come and reach over to fill it again. It got to be a little too officious. Good service, tasty food, but expensive for a chinese restaurant.

mmmmm I miss Chu’s! In college, I would drive up to Chico all the time to party with my best friend. I have spent countless Sunday afternoons at Peter Chu’s recovering from the night before over delicious mountains of food. Everything is fresh, the portions are huge, and the food is seriously addicting. Sizzling rice soup, how I love and miss you! I often think about making the 3 hour drive just to order one bowl. The sizzling sounds, the delicate crunch of the rice, the variety of seafood! yummm. The mu shu is also suuuper good, the pancakes are always so fresh. And I think this is the only place in town to get my dim sum fix. Char siu bao(steamed bbq pork bun) is really good! Food is definitely a 5, but I wish I could give extra stars for the service. There is a super-cute hostess(I think she is the daughter of the owners) who greets at the door. Even though I don’t go as often as I’d like, she always seems to remember me! Every time we come in, the owners come over to our table and chat and tell really funny stories. They are the sweetest people ever! Looove Peter Chu’s. Can’t wait for my next trip up.

Their menu boasts of Mr. Chu’s 30 years of experience in Mandarin cooking. If he is that experienced, it doesn’t come though in his food. The menu is pretty limited for a Chinese restaurant. They only offer basic chicken, beef and pork dishes. They have a seafood offering, but the dishes are only variations of prawns and scallops. I ordered a scallop dish. It was way too fishy(meaning it wasn’t fresh) and the sauce was too starchy. They offer a «full meal» option to any of their entrees which will get you a cup of soup, an egg roll and some fried won-tons. The soup was ok, but the egg roll and the won-tons were too oily. The service is pretty good; if not for that, I’dve given this place a single star. This might have passed for quality Chinese food a generation ago but there are better places out there.
