If you are looking for the best sandwich in town, look no further Great side options as well. If you are from out of town, this is where you’ll find the locals. Pastrami and smoked cheddar is the way to go. :-)

This place is the real deal. Loads of options, hearty sandwiches for the price, quick and friendly service. Forget about all the corporate, cookie-cutter joints in town: this is the ONLY place in Chico to sandwich yourself.

I really don’t know what all the fuss is about over this place. It’s a very typical deli … no reason to write home about. The place was definitely busy, but everybody on line was either overweight or a cop(I think cops eat free). I had the Garlic Rosemary Turkey on Dutch Crunch. I noticed in the deli case they were serving Foster Farms turkey. C’mon guys… spring for the Deitsel brand at least. I didn’t actually try any of the side dishes, but from their appearance, they looked like standard Safeway deli salads or worse. The drink selection was typical with nothing out of the ordinary. Outdoor seating and clean, comfortable booths and tables. Cheerful people working there, so that was where the 2 stars come from. Probably much better choices in Chico.

Spiteri’s is my favorite. They always get my order right. I usually get turkey avocado and it’s always fresh. Their pastrami is good too. Ask for easy mayo. Call ahead n you can avoid their sometimes long line. I wish they’d change up their sides more but I like the pasta salads. Always coming back.

I can’t get enough of this place! I first came here because it’s really close to my house but now I come here at least twice a week. The sandwiches are tasty and there are so many different options to choose from! Another plus is the price. I can get a half a sandwich and a cup of soup with a drink for like 8 bucks, not too bad. Soups are always yummy too! I haven’t tried much of the salads they offer but the Chinese Cabbage Salad was really good and light. If you haven’t made it in here, you’re definitely missing out

THESESANDWICHESAREAMAZING. Yes, that needed to be written in all CAPS. That’s how good the sandwiches are here. The bread is incredible, the ingredients are high quality, fresh and plentiful. So good I think I need to go there again RIGHTNOW!

This place is the bomb. Their sandwiches are delicious, they always get your order right, and their side options are endless. The only thing I don’t like about this place is that they aren’t open on Sunday! #firstworldproblems

One of the best sandwiches! In Chico for a business trip and found this deli. Don’t let the store front fool you. I almost drove by… has a nice little patio outside. Great food! Too bad I live far away.

Always delicious and well priced. This is a REAL deli — not a Subway style sub shop. I love their marinated mushrooms and a veggie on sourdough. Definitely a favorite lunch spot all year round

I’ve always been a fan of this place. Usually I go for a sandwich with their famous Dutch Crunch bread – I like that stuff, it’s pretty great. Today I opted for their focaccia bread and I have to say: whole new ball game here. That stuff was fantastic. Pastrami on focaccia with all the condiments, excellent! The service has always been great, even during the lunch rush madness when there’s probably twelve customers for every one employee, they hold their own in remarkable fashion. They’re prompt, accurate with the order, and whether it’s eat-in or takeout they get it to you quickly. You have to love the variety, it truly is a deli. They have all kinds of great sandwiches, sure, but they also have a variety of pastas, salads, soups and other dishes that one can choose instead(or in addition to). Beyond that they also have plenty of chips and drinks to choose from — either fountain drinks or bottled drinks(including a great selection of Snapple teas). Despite their busyness with handling orders, they always manage to keep the dining area clean and well-ordered. On days with nice weather there’s additional seating on the outdoor patio. The only drawback here, and this really isn’t their fault at all, is their location and their parking lot are all kind of awkward. That being said, it kind of aids in keeping Spiteri’s a bit more of a ‘local spot’ because tourists and college newbies aren’t going to stray too far from the campus in the first place.

Best deli/sandwiches around! They aren’t skimpy on the meat, like every other place. And the price is still great! Been coming here for years.

Excellent sandwiches and service. Many of the servers know me as a regular and remember my typical order. The dutch crunch is fantastic and the deli meats are always fresh. This is my favorite sandwich shop in town by far, and the first place I recommend to others. There is shaded outdoor seating as well. The line can get pretty long during the week between noon and 1pm but the staff is good about keeping the line moving fast. If you haven’t tried this place yet, you definitely should.

Yum, sandwiches! My favorite place in town. Reasonably priced, especially for veggie sandwiches. Good selection of deli sides if you’re into that. And craft beer, on tap and in the bottle. Everything I need for under $ 20(lunch for two w/sides and drinks). :)

This is the best deli in town… you build your sandwich the way you want… if it’s bland that’s your fault… they have the most options! Service has been good and they have Sierra Nevada on tap for cheap!

Great CLASSIC deli! Your sandwich is what you make it. Don’t get too crazy, unless you know what you’re doing. Minus 1 star because there have been times when sandwiches aren’t as loaded as other times… but for the most part they are pretty stacked. Great meat and cheese selection, lots of bread options too! I don’t usually get any of the sides, but there are a variety of side salads as well.

Been all over CA and it’s very surprising to me how well this little place holds up against the competition. 1. It’s a real deli and not just a sandwich joint. 2. The quality has remained high over the years. 3. I can get items here(real mortadella, meatloaf) that 95% of the places calling themselves delis never have on the West Coast. Gotta love this place. Long may it prevail.

It reminds me of Vallerga’s back home in Napa. Old school deli with an old school feel. I’d never heard about this place until a friend mentioned it being a hole in the wall across from a donut shop I’ve been to. I’m not sure what the deal is with the strip mall in the back but this place is a hidden treasure. I’ll be going back to try other sandwiches as well as the prepared food they offer as well. GONNALOVETHIS!

I took a chance coming all the way to Chico to eat lunch. Well, not really as I was passing through here on company time for my work. After searching for a decent(non-Subway, Togo’s, Quizno’s) sandwich shop, I stumbled upon«Spiteri’s Delicatessen» thanks to all of you loyal people at Unilocal.I figured with 65+ reviews at 4.5 stars, my sandwich experience shouldn’t be too bad. Well, let me be the judge of that and see how good this place is! «Spiteri’s Delicatessen» is located in the northern part of Chico; off the beaten path in a small shopping center off of East Ave. and Cohasset Rd. The nice thing about this place is that its not close to Chico State so you won’t get the place flooded with hungry college kids. However, there is a high school nearby so I advise to not come here when they’re on lunch or getting out of school. Parking was a breeze though and by the looks of it, I almost wondered if this place was even open. It looked so dark from the outside. But after opening the doors, it was packed with customers eating as well as many people waiting in line just to order. I arrived here around 1:15pm on a Tuesday December afternoon. It was quite busy but the line moved quickly as I was ready to order within 5 minutes after entering. The inside is quite generous as there are plenty of tables that can accommodate small and large groups. Additionally, the deli area offers a vast amount of salads, pastas, potato/macaroni/pasta salads, and olives. They also offer many different sides to compliment your sandwich that includes several types of chips and soups. I kept this meal as simple as possible by ordering a «½ turkey & Swiss»(on Dutch crunch bread) with a side of their soup of the day(for $ 5.95). And since I was fighting a little cold, I was pleasantly surprised to hear they were serving«Bacon & Potato Soup», one of my personal favorites. The lady asked if it was for here or to-go and this thing was ready within 3 minutes! I paid the young man behind the counter and proceeded outside to my vehicle to eat my sandwich. As I have been spoiled by eating some of the best sandwiches in my two hometowns of San Francisco and Sacramento, I do have to say that«Spiteri’s Delicatessen» does a fairly decent job in making a good quality sandwich. The Dutch crunch bread was soft while there was an abundance of turkey layered inside my sandwich. And of course it offered a nice amount of sliced Swiss cheese, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and pickles. The soup tasted excellent as there were noticeable large chunks of potatoes complete with bits of bacon throughout each spoonful. And the broth was not too salty which is just the way I like it. I have to say, if you are looking for a decent quality sandwich and reside within a 25-mile radius to Chico, I do suggest giving«Spiteri’s Delicatessen» a try. They offer a nice meat selection(turkey, ham, roast beef, pastrami, liverwurst, salami, meatloaf, mortadella, and coppa) while offering several variations of cheese and breads to truly customize your sandwich to your liking. Definitely a good place in this part of California worth going to!
