Will never go again. Overall place was dirty. Food not that great. My husband ordered an enchilada and the sauce was tomato sauce. My husband said his beer was flat. The only good thing was our waitress. She was great!!! Too bad the food and cleanness this lacking.

The food was exceptional! I hope next Cinco de Mayo they have more staff to accommodate everyone in a timely manner. We watched our Margaritas being made(delicious blue moon flavor) then watched the ice melt at the bar before they were delivered. Sad they didn’t anticipate the evening rush, but the server was as nice as could be! If «authentic,» is what you are after… this is the best in Chico!

Good burrito supreme, the server was friendly, liked the salsa that comes with our chips, and free desert for checking in. My only complaint is the speed of the order, but overall, it was a nice experience.

Service was extremely slow, wrong food brought out after the 30 min wait, when I was given the«right» plate… It was wrong. Didnt care anymore, ate it. it wasnt good. I wont be back. Also, Tortilla Flat where I come from has a signature appetizer, flat flour tortilla covered in cheese and broiled… really yummy… ya, they don’t know what that is here ??

The service was good. The free chips and salsa are good. The food came out quickly, and it was okay. Nothing great.

I am so disappointed in tonight’s meal. We actually could not eat the chili verde or burrito supreme. We’ve been coming here for years but tonight is definitely our last visit. On a positive note they only charged us for the water downed margaritas.

We had dinner at Tortilla Flats last night and the food was terrible. The waitress mentioned that the plates were very hot, suggesting the food just came off the grill — the food was cold and sauce on the burrito was baked on. The burrito was cold, rice was cold and tasted stale, beans were cold — we went with a group of people and we’re expecting a good dinner as we have had in the past — not this time and spending over $ 100.00 it was terrible and we will never again return.

The drinks tasted like virgin drinks. They only had half the ingredients for a michelada.

Went here with a large group a few nights back(8⁄30). We are young, and we are in the service industry so we’re generally forgiving of small issues when we go out as a group. The issues here are not small, this was a disaster. We made a reservation for 7pm and were not seated until 7:45pm. It was pretty clear that someone dropped the ball on our reservation. Even so, it does not take 45 mins to prep a table and there was no one else eating that they had to clean up after. We were directed to the back patio which is horribly run down then left alone there for a while. It took until around 8:15pm to get our drink orders and one of our margaritas came out with a broken glass, one beer didn’t come out at all. We enjoyed our chips and salsa, and enjoyed each other’s company but the wait to order was out of control! When we finally ordered our food at 8:30, most of it came out quick and we were excited, or so we thought! The food was so disappointing. Terribly overcooked shrimp, raw chicken, and the driest Mexican rice I’ve ever seen. They started serving our dinner around 8:45 and by 9:15pm some members of our group still hadn’t gotten their food. They had to leave early to go eat somewhere else because they were so hungry. When it came time to pay, the staff split the checks in the most disorderly manner I’ve ever seen and many people’s food didn’t match up with their drink according to their bill. We all had cash and never asked for the check to be split. The meals that were never delivered were comped and the waitress made it seem like she was doing us a favor by doing that. All the while, there is a HUGE commotion happening inside the restaurant — an insanely loud banda setting up to play for the night, with bass so loud you couldn’t think straight. Each time the wait staff would open the door to the patio, we couldn’t talk to each other it was so loud. It was clear the attention and focus was on the inside and on the party they were setting up for but we weren’t the only people in restaurant, there were still customers inside eating throughout this, what a nightmare! When we tried to leave, the people who were waiting to come inside to dance were standing in the door way and not clearing out so we had a difficult time moving through and the staff was neither sympathetic nor helpful. All in all, a terrible experience and none of us will ever be back. You need to choose between a restaurant and a night club. If you want to turn your restaurant into a night club, by all means do it. You do not currently have the capabilities to do both.

This place is over the hill! The layout is funky, food is salty and greasy. Skip this place and go just down the street. I have no idea why you would even want to venture out into the patio, everything is kept up like it’s been out of business for years. Yuck! This place should be on a show for restaurant overall

Throughly enjoy the food here, delicious, authentication mexican food, wonderful drinks, friendly staff and owner. The soups are delicious, I recommend the jalapeño ranch if going with a salad. The place just got a facelift and it looks a lot better. Throughout the years this place has changed owners but the current owner cares, is trying to get repeat business, and had made a lot of good changes. Recommend this place for dinner.

I want to preface this by saying that prior to my last trip here, I’ve had a mostly positive experience and those problems that occurred were easily forgivable ie «the chicken tastes funny this time» or «the service was slow». These things happen in any restaurant and are not par for the course at this establishment. That being said, all it takes is one particularly bad experience to put a cloud over the decent ones. Upon being seated, we were pleased to find that we could just catch the final few minutes of Happy Hour. The menu stated«Pitchers — $ 7». When our waitress arrived, we briefly debated whether to get a pitcher of beer or margarita and finally settled on the margarita. Upon receiving our check at the end of the meal, we noted that we had been charged not the advertised $ 7 but $ 19.99. Thinking this was nothing more than a mistake, I brought it to the attention of our waitress and was informed that«Pitchers — $ 7» apparently only refers to beer. I pointed out that there was no other price clarification for beer or margarita anywhere on the menu and the waitress helpfully said she’d call her manager and see what she could do. Call? Yes, call. As in there was no management present to deal with anything. After the call I was told they would knock 15% off the entire check. On our check, this amounted to roughly $ 6. Considering they wanted to charge $ 19.99, this meant we ended up paying $ 14 for what was advertised as a $ 7 pitcher. So only twice the advertised price instead of three times the advertised price. The food was fine. The waitress was cheerful and friendly and I was happy to tip her appropriately as none of this was her fault. However, due to dishonest, do-nothing management and deceptive advertising, I will not be back.

I don’t know where to begin because it was all terrible. First we walk in, no greeting then told to wait a minute. Told to pick a table, it was filthy so went to the next one. The whole restaurant seemed dirty. After 5 minutes got chips and salsa but had no menus or drink order taken. Finally got menus and ordered another 15 minutes later. They didn’t have any lemons for water. Second round of chips were stale. Soup was the highlight. Ordered fajitas and cilantro chicken. Shrimp were overcooked. Steak and chicken tasted like burnt rubber. Asked for extra tortillas that we never got. The cilantro chicken came swimming in a bland sauce, maybe to try and cover the overcooked chicken. First and last time ever going here.

I just opened a Unilocal account only to warn others to avoid tortilla flats at all costs. It was once one of the best in town is now one of the worst. From the hospitality to the service to the food to the bait and switch pricing on lunch specials. Horrible. Shame on you Flats for turning a chico institution to the joke that it is now. The salsa is good though.

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great staff. Overall a great place. I always enjoy Taco Tuesdays. Can’t beat tacos for $ 1 each. Also Sierra Nevada on Tap to go with it. But if I had to recommend anything from the menu, it would be the Molcajete Flats. No other Mexican restaurant in town has anything it. Also great margaritas and micheladas.

I love this place! I don’t go there as often as I wish I could but it’s always fun to go! My favorite server remembers my order and knows how much I love the jalapeño ranch! Seriously, the best dressing ever!

Dined here on Saturday Night April 5th, 2014. We had a Groupon special so decide to go try it out. We arrived about 6:30PM. Wasn’t to busy. Our waitress Amber was attentive and was handling multiple tables, along with servicing the bar, making drinks & helping out some in the kitchen. She was fabulous, accommodating & very sweet. Chips and Salsa are complementary(we asked for hotter salsa and it was great) Appetizer wings very small: but flavorful! Kids meals a little pricey, $ 6.99. Does include rice and beans. Home made chicken rolled tacos(2) YUM! Carne Asada Steak was tasty and the Carne Asada Burrito was requested with Carne Meat, Guacamole, Pico ONLY(no rice and beans inside) was pretty good too! Lots of options on the menu. We will be back to try more!
