Love it it’s been a few years that I have not been here and there food and freshly made tortillas are still the bomb. If your looking for traditional real Mexican food this is the place, right down to the Pinto beans de la holla. It’s a must for those that need to know what real mexican food taste like. I only wish they would add some Sonora type made lobster to there menu. But there prices are great you can’t ask for any better

A very good place with decent service. The food is always delicious and well worth the price. The staff is very friendly and the place is clean. Overall this place is worth at least a visit.

I believe this place has a roach problem. I wouldn’t recommend going there again. Bought some food and then found a small creature crawling on my kitchen floor right near the bag of food. I dont live in a dirty home btw. Won’t return ever again.

Last time I came to this place I was very disappointed the food was gross! It tasted like it was old! Man was I so disappointed. It’s sad, the experience of the food was bad enough to not want it anymore. I don’t understand why the owner would let the food go from one extreme to the next. Consistency is a major factor in serving food that’s why there are recipes. I wish the original owner would have never sold the place.

Picked up carnitas, birria, rice, beans and homemade tortillas last night. Took to a friends house where we gathered to watch the UFC fights. We loved the food and so did everyone else. We will be back.

Place is close to our apartment. The food wasn’t good and the place is very tacky inside. Got a carne Asada burrito and torta for my wife. Really peppery taste and the meat tastes like it was boiled and not grilled. Would not return

What an amazing find. I was craving a good authentic chili verde burrito. I found it and not so far from home. First off the flour tortilla is as fresh as can be. It must be homemade and if it isn’t. It doesn’t matter because it tastes that way. The beans were sooooo good. So tasty so like my grandmother used to make from my childhood. My favorites beans are from Javier’s. Tasted just as yummy. The chili verde was so tasty. I added some Monterey cheese because that is my favorite cheese and not all Mexican restaurants use that. Don’t let this gem disappear. Eat here. Support this family place. You can eat there but I got mine to go. I will be back. I’m so happy to have found a local yummy Mexican place with authentic food.

This place has fallen so far that you are mistaken to consider its great past. Nothing is better than adequate for the food. Service is sadly resting on laurels long past. They don’t care if you go any place else it’s obvious. Today the chili relleno was a greasy mess with very little cheese. The sauce was from a can and chilly. The enchilada was a rolled up tortilla covered in a canned red sauce. If there was cheese in it then it escaped before making it to my plate. I ordered a soft drink from the fountain as I would have liked a refill… But obviously staying out of sight prevents anyone from serving. Another time saving move the have is to just give you a fork and not a knife that must save on washing knives. Bottom line this place is a yuck, don’t bother.

So I’m new to Chino I have no idea of a good place to get Menudo /Pozole This is the 2 nd place I try for menudo locally Well when I parked in front MY1st Red light was a big sign menudo Everyday ! I knew better but I had to try ! Remember it’s SUNDAY morning ! Well I went in my wife by side braving a new place ! Place was clean small TV playing, usual small Mexican place so I was a lil ok with it ! I ordered a large bowl of menudo My wife a small Pozole !! The look on her face when she started to eat was enough for me, my wife is very pretty and easy to read her face !! Ha ha So then I took a spoon of a piece of meat, then a second one both different kinds, and with that, I remembered a flavor Of stale water made menudo minus spices of normal red chile and onion etc !!! Overall texture was good hominy was good ‚ But I think if I had a place I would taste before I served !! I feel the menudo was made last week and microwaved there when I ordered. I took a while to get and the other couple had their food, so I was next and it took time !! Pozole I tasted was like it was the same with bay leaves soaking in it ! My wife said taste like its from a can ! I said Can would have been better ! I WILLNOTRETURN ! 2 stars lady was nice place was clean ! No pictures Not worth it !!

The the burritos are great and the tortillas are excellent. I was just a little disappointed that on a Saturday morning they were selling cold tortillas by the Dozen from the night before. This place used to sell fresh hot tortillas every hour everyday. I don’t know if I caught them on a bad day or this is just the new Sonora.

Our coworker insisted that we come here because of the phill burrito. We ordered that and a chile relleno plate — since i always try the chile relleno on any mexican place we go to. The phill burrito is HUGE. The burrito is at a good level of spicy — it is very spicy but you will keep eating and eating! The chile relleno was pretty good too — not too soggy not too oily. The sauce that soaks the chile relleno is very delicious too. The rice had a lot of flavor(hints of garlic) — not like other restaurants where it looks like they just added orange colored powder to the rice. You get your money’s worth. Huge servings for big flavor. Will definitely come back again!

This place is right down the street from my house, and let me tell you… it’s freaking good! Their carnitas are my favorite, but their carne asada, al pastor and chicken, are right up there too! They have very tasty food. Only bad thing is… that they close waaaay too early!(7pm)

Huevos a la Mexicana wasn’t good at all. I think they thought it was still Halloween cause the rice was whiter than Casper and the onions where. The eggs where horrible and the had a funny taste to them. The Menudo was cold and wasn’t cleaned properly. I could smell it on the other side of the table. Plates shouldn’t be hotter than the food. **the microwave was probably the chef** My plate was chilaquiles rojo with potatoes instead of rice and beans(I don’t trust hole-in-the-wall rice and beans… if you ask a person when they were made, «earlier today». the real time it was made«probably a day or week longest ago». That was not in the house red chile… tasted like tin can chile(really easy to figure out… trust me). The potatoes were hard and super bland. How much did everyone eat their plate… probably 5%-10%. We were not looking to get it our food compensated, didn’t ask or brought it up. I know hole-in-the-wall places are good but that doesn’t mean ALL of the hole-in-the-wall places are good. If a chinese person doesn’t like the chow mein, if an italian doesn’t like the wine, the salvadoran rejects the pupusas, if a mexican doesn’t finish the food… probably the wrong place to go to. ***If you get a lot of food on the plate, it’s a sign. Quantity is not quality*** The good thing about the place… the people are nice and did ask for a review.

Tortillas are very authentic. I ordered carne asada burrito and the meat was dry and it was hard to tell if it was ever real! I like the salsa bar. I went when it was still hot in the mornings. They don’t run the AC! It was impossible to eat inside. The worst part is it took like 20 minutes to get my food. I heard a lot talking. I know the meat was already cooked because it definitely was not fresh! What took so long?! I wouldn’t come back. There’s a lot better out there! Like chilitos on Euclid.

Say it with me three times«Chile Verde!» …“Chile Verde!”…“Chile Verde!” When going to any mexican restaurant I judge them on their chile verde. By far the best I have had ever. I have has catering done by them and eaten there on the weekends. When I had catering, no joke everyone was asking where the restaurant was that I got the chile verde. The only negative is the wait time but I call ahead :)

Made a stop before church this past week with my boyfriend. We tried the lengua, asada, and carnitas tacos. I wasn’t a huge fan of the lengua, but the asada was okay, though not what I expected at all — it was as if they had spiced the meat differently than other taco places. It was good, just… different. And, weird to say, definitely not greasy enough. Though whether that’s good or bad is another issue. The service was excellent though — nice people, friendly, welcoming. Not the best, but definitely not the worst food, with great customer service. I wouldn’t go out of my way to get here, but if you have a hankering for very cheap tacos($ 1 tacos Monday thru Friday), it’s not bad.

My family and I are new to town and were cruising around in search of an authentic Mexican food joint and, well, we hit the JACKPOT when it came to Sonora! Despite the lack of aesthetics and people there(we were the only ones), Sonora’s far exceeded our expectations when it came to friendliness by the cashier/waitress/cook and tastiness in food!!! There’s definitely a family-feel to this place and Jeanette, the cashier/waitress/cook, is as sweet as sweet can be. She treated us like family, despite being total and complete strangers, and made sure we had everything we needed, and actually threw in some unexpected extras that any restaurant would charge extra. I love supporting family businesses like Sonora’s and appreciate the family-touch that large restaurant chains cannot offer. I will definitely return here, if not for the food, for the new friends I made at Sonora’s.

A total«hole in the wall», with delicious, homemade style food. The place is small, clean and friendly. The waitress was so nice. She took good care of myself and my wife and made sure our food was made exactly the way we wanted. Probably not a place for a first date, but definitely a spot for a casual meal.

Never judge a restaurant by its building aesthetics. Sonora is the kind of Mexican restaurant which gives you that home cooked feeling. You know, the kind that makes you feel like your are visiting your mom, grandmother, or godmother. The moment we walked in, my wife and I were greeted with smiles and friendly service. They started us off with the the fundamentals of Mexican food, the chips and salsa. My wife enjoyed the salsa because it had the perfect kick of heat, not to hot or too mild. Next was the drinks, I ordered the horchata and my wife had the agua de tamarindo. Both drinks were perfect, not overly sweet like other places make them. For breakfast I order the huevos Mexicano and my wife had the huevos rancheros, oh so good. We also tried the dollar tacos, they are small but delicious. I typically do not eat as much as I did that day, but the food is that good. I couldn’t let any go to waste. The best part was the freshly made flour tortillas. They are just like my grandmother use to make. Sonora is my new place to buy fresh tortillas that is 2 minutes away from home. The City of Chino has plenty of Mexican restaurant options but Sonora is the one that has climbed to the top of my preference list.
