Loved the ice cream and the staff were very kind, helpful and courteous. A must stop when you are in Chippewa Falls.

THE place for ice cream in the Chippewa Valley! I have been coming to Olson’s since I was a kid and still dream about it now that I have moved away. The variety and quality of every flavor keep this as such a stable parlor in Chippewa Falls.

A place that does black licorice ice cream right! They have a nice home town feel and the ice cream is excellent.

The ice cream is great and they do really nice soup in bread bowls — makes me salivate just thinking about it! It’s a small building, but in the summer, it’s not uncommon to see many people outside on the benches enjoying their ice cream treats. Indoors, it’s quaint with about 6 – 7 booths. You can also get buckets of their ice cream to go from the freezers just inside the door. We like to take company here from out of town as it is one of CF’s highlights!

The staff is friendly. The ice cream is good. There are many flavors. It is a busy place on a small town Main Street.

Can’t say much else that hasn’t been said already. I mean, after all, it’s Olson’s! If you’re visiting, this is mos def a must visit. Olson’s has been around and delivering the same homemade quality ice cream since before my dad was born. There are always a wide assortment of flavors, so no matter what your sweet tooth desires, you’re sure to find something you like. As a testament to Olson’s allure, after hiking through the snow in 15 °F weather, we still stopped by and enjoyed a couple of scoops in a waffle cone!

Seriously, does a «bad» ice cream place even exist??? I was here years before the days of Unilocal and again last weekend so I had to write up a review of my experience. I have family out in this area who have taken me here. It’s a cute little ice cream shop which also serves lunch. What I really liked about this place were the varieties of ice cream, and the variety which included some rare flavors like«cookie monster» which was like a blue cookie dough ice cream(I got that one, and LOVED it!) or pumpkin… or one which had cocoa krispies in it! Yum!!! This place is GOOD, I recommend stopping in for ice cream — the prices are good, and the amount you pay for is more than plenty!

On our way to the Twin Cities we stopped in for a treat. The service was very friendly and the ice cream was delicious. If you can’t eat a huge portion, ask for a smaller size. It was still plenty for me. My only complaint was that there were too many choices. :). So hard to choose which flavor to buy. All looked so good. I went with a chocolate that had caramel and Heath bits. YUM!

Wow this place has great ice cream!!! I knew it was going to be good when we drove by on a Thursday afternoon and all the chairs outside were full and you could see quite a few more inside. I’d never been to Chippewa Falls so my friends decided we had to make a stop here on the way back from the park. The ice cream was awesome. I liked it much better than Grand Old Creamery and that sucks because GOC is about a mile from my house and this is over 2 hours away. I had an ice cream called chocolate marshmallow wave and it couldn’t have been better. The waffle bowl was good too! I also tried some of my friend’s cookies and cream and it was probably the best C&C I’ve ever tried. I can’t wait to go back to Chippewa and go back to Olson’s.

Love the ice cream, but the girl with brown hair behind the counter needs to loose her attitude.

I ordered a single on a waffle cone. I received a serving of ice cream the size of my head. For less than $ 4. It was awesome premium-style stuff. This could be very bad for my diet…

Great ice cream and even better malts. Expect to wait a bit in line on a hot summer day but the staff will take care of you. The place is a local landmark and is well known by people near and far. Almost a daily stop whenever we visit Chippewa Falls.

I don’t get it, is this ice cream homemade if they call it «Home-Maid»? What does that even mean… The ice cream is good, but I would say they could dial back on some of the flavors. My family loved the mocha chip, but our other flavors were more of a miss than a hit. I had the banana split, which was good, but nothing too special. I found the shop to be really disoriented. There was no clear line. Some tried to wait by the coolers, others tried to wait by the register to order. Definitely was bizarre!

Love the homemade ice cream here; every time we’re in the area I try to come up with an excuse to stop by Olson’s for a treat. Highly, highly recommend. Huge range of flavors with generous portions and low prices. Love the cookies and cream(big chunks of oreos plus amazingly creamy vanilla ice cream) as well as pumpkin pie, mocha chip and many, many others. Their cones are great and a kid’s size cone is usually more than enough ice cream for me! They have ample seating and just a general local vibe inside with friendly staff.

I cannot even begin to tell you how good the ice cream at Olson’s is. I grew up in Chippewa Falls, have traveled a lot and always compare other ice cream to theirs. Very few come close. If you have a chance, go! Try every single one of their flavors! My favorite will always be their butter pecan, but every so often I diverge.(I once even tried their giant ice cream 5-foot replica that stands outside their door… until it made me puke. Ahh, childhood memories.) :)

Out of a 3 day weekend in Minneapolis, Olson’s may be the number 1 highlight! How we ended up here, I can vaguely remember. It went something like this… 1. Heading back to Chicago 2 hours late. 2. Detour for a Leinenkugel’s FREE tour. 3. Making it to the lodge a few minutes before the tour left. Ms. Garmin didn’t know a road existed that I was clearly driving on. 4. Overhearing someone mention sandwiches and homemade ice cream. 5. «Excuse me, miss, did you say ‘homemade ice cream’»? Why yes, here’s a brochure. 6. 1 hour tour of Leinenkugel’s(which was awesome!) 7. Drive directly to Olson’s! I had the waffle cone with turtle ice cream. My wife had the coffee and something ice cream. Both were awesome! Both were enormous! And it was only $ 5 total.

This place is an institution. It has been there for more than 80 years. After 3 generations in one family it changed hands a couple of years ago. I hope/trust that it’s up to its same standards. My childhood memories are of great butter brickle and great black licorice ice cream(which I usually had together, but I was a bit«special» even then) Two stories that give you a sense for the place: 1. For many decades they’d exceed the legal butterfat content that ice cream can have(just to ensure extra awesomeness). The local judge would fine them but suspend the fine for a dish of ice cream. Now that’s my kind of small town justice! 2. In the 1970’s they made the world’s largest milkshake. 2 of those semi trucks that transport milk full of free chocolate shakes for all. Ice cream ran down the street and it seemed like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with the street running with chocolate. So, not only do they make righteous product, they’re great humanitarians and innovators.
