Al’s Mobile Mechanic

When the alternator in my 2008 Honda Civic gave out I frantically started calling auto shops all around San Diego. Thank goodness I found Al’s Mobile Mechanic because he gave me the best deal I was told all day. One of the great things about Al is that he comes to you! He saved me a tow, so much money, and time. He even tested the old alternator just in case… So he uninstalled it, drove to the shop to test it, then drove back to my house with the brand new one to install. All this for an extremely reasonable price. You can’t beat that type of service!
We need more loyal, honest, and trustworthy mechanics like Al! Believe me I’ve called around and he’s the best so far!
Plus: I even learned a bit about cars and alternators :). So, what the previous reviewers wrote are true, he is very knowledgable!

I will be using Al for all of my car needs!
He gave me a courtesy call before arriving, arrived at my house on time and worked very fast. He is also very knowledgeable and was able to explain what was wrong with my car to a girl who is clueless when it comes to cars. He was also flexible around my schedule and understanding.
What stood out the most was that he was not pushy and did not make me pay for services I did not desperately need. Very reasonably priced.

My 2000 Toyota Camry Solara started jerking while driving. I called Al and he promptly showed up at my doorsteps and took care of the problem. Some things that stand out from other mechanics/​car shops:
* I did not have to leave house
* Responded to text messages
* Charged me for full repair less then what some shops would charge me for diagnostics test
Followed up over several days, ordered parts and was completely self-​directed. I didn’t have to remember to call him and didn’t have to put any effort into the follow up appointments to install the last parts.
He was knowledgeable and explained what was broken, showed me the parts on my car.

I would just like to express my gratitude for not only a great job but for being professional and very reasonable on price. I would an will recommend AL’s mobile Machanic for anyone in need of auto repair.

I have a 2004 Land Rover Discovery and was in need of a mobile mechanic to come and flush the oil and came across Al’s Mobile Mechanic, based on the reviews decided to give him a try and I’m glad that I did.
Al was very friendly, quick, helpful, direct and not pushy. He provided options and explained his work and possible additional work that needed to be done. The previous reviews stated he is an honest person, and I would agree. He’s not like some mechanics who dishonestly charge you a different amount than what was agreed upon. He kept to his quote and his pricing is a plus!
Called Al to inquire on a Wednesday morning and Al was able to come the following day, Thursday to work on the SUV (although he offered to come that very day on Wednesday)

I own a 1990 Totoya Celica. The timing belt broke and caused a lot of damage to the engine. I admit I was not diligent with maintenance and neglected my car. From the get go Al provided great customer service. He never made me feel irresponsible for neglecting my car, although I admit I was. I have experienced other mechanic’s who are condescending and make you feel ignorant, that was not the case with Al.
He was very informative, although at times I felt overwhelmed by the extend of details but I saw it as his extra effort to be transparent and truthful. I later asked him to spare me the details as I came to trust his judgement and knowledge.
A couple of reasons why I was satisfied with my choice:
1. He is a licensed mechanic.
2. He comes to your door, eliminating tow truck fees.
3. He is resourceful and gave me options.
4. He is highly solicited, which makes him busy, but worth the wait.
5. He has very competitive prices that are hard to ignore (definitely a plus!).
5. I trust his character.
SUMMARY:
Al’s Mobile Mechanic is trustworthy, knowledgeable and treats you like family.
PLUS:
I am not always available to make/​answer phone calls during work hours and found his text messages extremely helpful and convenient.

I live in South San Diego. My smog/​air pump seized up and my serpentine snapped in the Clairemont area and it was un-​drivable.
Bought the pump and belt, contacted Al he made the 20 mile drive to Clairemont to fix my van where it was stranded. Didn’t even try to charge me extra even though it was out of his way. Just charged me for labor. He saved me the cost of getting my vehicle towed all the way back home.
Great honest person to work with. Give him a chance and you will have his number on your cell phone for life.
