My wife and I moved to the area about a year ago and discovered this place a few months back while driving. We decided to stop in and try them out and we became fans instantly! My wife and I walked in and they have a nice bar area with a TV and jukebox. We were promptly seated and when we got to the table, we noticed another TV that we could watch the soccer game on. The waiter brought chips and salsa as well as took our drink order right away and recommended the mango margarita and tamarindo margarita. When they arrived, we were really amazed at how good they were! Most margaritas that we have had before had way too much tequila in them but these came out perfect. We received our food in a short amount of time and it came out great. Since my first visit with my wife, we have been back many times for«date night» and dinner with friends. We would definitely recommend trying this place if you are in the area! Casa Don Diego, thanks for your great food and great service!

Just your average mexican food, nothing to brag about. We ordered their chile relleno combo and a chile verde dinner. Very unexciting, the chile relleno was absent of any cheese the rice and beans was on par to Taco Bell’s. Chile verde… flavorless. Jesus was our server he was the only good experience to our visit. With thousands of mexican food joints out there and this place being in business as long as they have you’d think they could get it right.

I visited Casa Don Diego on Saturday around noon, the restaurant was busy so I decided to eat at the bar, the staff was nice and friendly, but were a lil bit busy, I ate carnitas and they were delicious and I ate almost the entire plate, which was a lot, the portions are generous! I loved the flour tortillas, I think they are hand made. I also had some margaritas and the mango margarita was my favorite but I tried the tamarindo as well and it was good too! I will be back soon.

Pretty good. Love the fresh flour tortillas. Good service. Pollo con mole was on point… Small place but tonight it only had a few people so it was nice. Will return to try something else!

Location of restaurant os terrible. We waked in and had to wait a while before being seated. It didn’t help that here was a strong stench of hookah smoke near the entrance where we were waiting for hostess. Once seated, it took even longer to get our orders in, even though they didn’t seem to be at capacity and had enough staff members available to assist with workload. The food was not good at all. I ordered a soup that was extremely salty and not at all appealing. I will probably never be eating here again.

Es la primera vez que visito este restaurant. La comida esta buena aunque he probado mejores. El servicio muy lento y mucho ruido por parte de los meseros. No creo volver.

We went saturday Feb. 6. To celebrate my grandma’s 81st bday. The food was good, but the service was pretty bad. We were a party of 12& the restaurant was pretty pack with only one waiter taking orders for everyone. There was plenty of workers there. So i don’t understand why they only had one waiter. It took them 1hr &15 mins to bring out are food by than i wasn’t hungry any more.

This review is for Brunch only! Came here for brunch on Sunday and it was fairly busy. I was excited about the bottomless mimosas, if we’re being honest, but I only ended up having 3. There is a two hour limit on that, which is more than enough time to enjoy your meal and be in good company. You have to order from the brunch menu to get that. That menu wasn’t too exciting, though. Eighty percent of it was egg/omelette. I ended up getting the shrimp omelette and it was pretty good! Add my mimosas and I’m a happy camper. Brunch hours are from 8AM-3PM on Saturday and Sunday. From that, you get the choice of bottomless mimosas, a bottle of champagne per couple or one of the selected mixed drinks. I feel that you do get your money’s worth with the drinks and the food was decent! I would definitely come back here since we live pretty close by and come one, bottomless mimosas in Chula Vista! Service was average. They did make sure to refill our drinks within a few minutes of us finishing them so I’m very satisfied with that. Some places wait until you ask. Bathrooms were a bit small, but clean. No changing table, which I’m used to because I’ve mastered the art of changing baby without one. I saw a few big parties there! It’s a small place, but they do what they can to accommodate big groups. Also, there is a bar where it seems all the guys like to hang out and watch the game. Will come back to give this place another try soon!

After years of passing this place, we decided to try it out… First of all, the facility is old school, the hosts are nice but done always check on you. The food was awesome. We had huevos Verdes and bistec Ranchero. Here is my troubling issues% we only got served Two tortillas. Now I know that’s not a big deal, but it is. And let me explain why. When you’re expericing Mexican food, there emus be at least 3 tortillas. having less than that, will disrupt the overall experience. Unfortunately we had to ask for more. Try it out this place has been since 1968.

I’ve eaten here a couple of times and so far I haven’t been disappointed. We stumbled upon this restaurant on accident. We were driving around the area looking for Mexican food and we saw a sign outside that intrigued us. My friend lived across the street so we said why not. There’s a small bar inside and it’s pretty cozy. The server was very helpful and recommended some entrees. I ended up going for the chilaquile. That’s usually my go to item for new breakfast spots. I ordered it with the carne asada and it hit the spot. If you come here on the weekends they have breakfast and brunch specials with unlimited mimosas which I think is an awesome deal! I higjly recommend this spot if you like Mexican food and want to try something new!

Great food and great, friendly service !! Ordered the huevos Rancheros Lunch special and it was delicious! Lunch specials come with bottomless mimosas or Bloody Mary. Only negative was that it took a bit too long to bring out food.

Review in a flash! Consistently serves decent Mexican food, consistently gives poor service. Full Review: The Service Here’s the story, my coworker and I has been going to this place for at least 4x a year and we always get a decent food but also a mediocre service. We walk in today and wanted to seat on our usual corner but it was not clean, so we sat on the other table but the seat was uncomfortable(uneven cushions seats), hence ask the server to clean our favorite spot, after a couple of minutes he cleaned it in quick one swoop ass wipe job, suffice it to say it was still not clean, it was very dump. so we needed seating on another chair, and once again seat was very soft, who ever did their seats did a poor job. Like the place due to food, but always gets an average poor service.

Bottomless mimosas in Chula vista people! Great food and great service. I have been here a handful of times but every time I come to have breakfast here, I am always treated so well by the staff. I came for brunch on Sunday because they have bottomless mimosas for 2 hours. Unlimited mimosas for 2 hours. Pure genius. Way to go Casa Don Diego. Their salsas and chips are fresh and spicy and delicious. I ordered the chillaquiles with beans and 2 sunny side up eggs. . almost like momma makes. Almost. I love this place and will be back because their food is good, service is great, and Conveniently located in Chula Vista. I recommend this place for brunch.

Went to casa don diego with friends for a margarita. The atmosphere was quiet not to many people. We sat and ordered ciroc and cranberry and two classic margaritas the waiter was very friendly and i did appreciate being asked if i wanted salt on my glass of course i did. decided to order food and the place started getting busy our waiter took very good care of us. The food was good i can even order things not on the menu and the food came hot fresh and delicious. This was my second time here and i will definitely be back. This restaurant is great for sitting back, relaxing talking and socializing with friends. They don’t rush you out and are very welcoming. Give it a try.

Blaaaah. That’s how I felt about the food –__– I had semi high expectations of the place… only to find out the place and food kind of suck. The inside consists of booths and very boring colors decorate the walls, neutral beige and whites. You receive free chips and salsa per entrée but the waiter placed it on our table upon seating us. If you would like some more it’s 95 cents each time. The salsas(they give you a tiny amount of green and a tiny amount of red) are very bland and flavorless. As far as items from the menu go, I ordered a mango margarita and a carne asada burrito. The margarita was alright, nothing great. The burrito comes plain(only meat inside) with a scoop of guacamole and a scoop of pico de gallo on the side. Service was okay, the 2 waiters that took our order and served our food were nice and passed by often to check on us. Overall, I’m sorry to say but I do not believe this place is worth the price or time. Next time I’m craving Mexican I think I’ll opt in for a nearby taco shop instead.
