No stars if it was possible! I just came out of here disgusted and still hungry!!! here it goes I’m soo hungry so I walk in here since it’s «soo good» my behind it is!!! Just ordered roll tacos well what they call roll tacos just by looking at them I knew it was a fail! Firsts bite no taste just tortilla then oh look some meat only like 4 strips of it! Tried to eat them but I just gave up not even my daughter liked them there was little to no meat on them!!! Told the cashier and all she said was…” well no one has complained”!!! Really!!! I wasn’t going to ask for my money back you can have it!!! That’s why I’m writing this review because of her unprofessional responce!!!

I’ve been going to this taco shop for years. Foods here are great and the people works here are super awesome.

I love their carne Asada fries! They are the best in CV. I also had their rolled tacos they are awesome. I’ve also had their California burrito. It’s huge and I love the carne it’s moist and tender. The service is fast and they are friendly. Yes, it’s a hole in the wall but the food is amazing and it’s cheap! Just remember it’s cash only… hit the atm before you stop by.

By far the WORST pollo asada fries ever !!! I came here because the reviews were great …
The chicken was just seasoned breast very dry, guacomole was really watered down and the salsa didnt even taste like anything … Super dissapointed:(

Unilocal fail!
This was a first for me, usually Unilocal is pretty reliable when I see more than 100 reviews and 4 – 5 star rating. But not this time, not even close!
I got a work assignment in Chula Vista today and thought to myself «I’m going to be eating some good Mexican food today!». Lately I’ve been working in the Mira Mesa area and eating at El Patron which is great authentic Mexican food.
Okay so here’s my review;
Strike 1: The place is filthy and old, but to be honest I’ve had some of the best Mexican food at far worse places.
Strike 2: As soon as I saw the «cash only» sign I knew I was dealing with a shady operation. I mean c’mon, there are people taking credit cards via iPhone at the swap meet these days, there’s no excuse for this and we all know why you do it
Strike 3: No salsa bar! Instead I was handed a squeeze bottle with what tasted like ketchup with a little vinegar added.
Strike 4: Okay so a fourth strike kills my baseball analogy but there were no fountain drinks, cans only.
I ordered what would be the most pathetic attempt at a carne asada quesadilla I’ve ever seen or tasted. I’m guessing I got about two tablespoons of meat and about one tablespoon of cheese for $ 5.50! Keep in mind I’ve been working in Mira Mesa for the past few months, an area known for great Asian food, not Mexican food. I just assumed that this place would be even better than El Patron since it’s a few exits from Mexico and has so many great Unilocal reviews. Nope, not even close, El Patron blows this place away (and just about any other Mexican taco shop for that matter).
My coworker had the veggie burrito, nothing special, he wasn’t thrilled with the dry tortilla.

We haven’t been here for years, but nothing has changed! They used to stay open pretty late, but I’m not sure anymore. The carne asada fries are always on point and for only $ 6.75 — a way better deal than lolitas and some of the other places around! I’ve also had their california burrito, which is really good too. We tried the carnitas burrito this time and it wasn’t very good so I’ll stick to the carne asada!

I always get veggie burritos here and this is my go to place for ‘em! They’re great at customizing whatever you want which is always really helpful. I sometimes order chicken burritos for my family and they give you the option to have grilled or boiled chicken which I always found interesting! Their portions are big so don’t worry about leaving with a semi-​satisfied stomach!
ALSO, this place is cash only which is a bit disappointing personally as I never carry cash but definitely check it out! It’s open really late as well which is a plus.

Now that I’ve lived down south (Chula Vista/​Rancho del Rey) for over a year, I had a hard time finding a good taco shop to my liking. I come from the neighborhood of Mira Mesa where Alejandro’s, Cotixan, Vallarta Express and El Patron were the usual spots to go. Those are some serious taco shops to go against. But since I moved south, none of the places lived up to the hype of being closer to the border. Now I’m not gonna include Tacos El Gordo in my comparison since they only offer tacos, but they do have some of the best tacos down south. My wife is the one who told me about Hermanos and I’m glad she did. Hermanos has some of the best Mexican food down south.
Burritos — Very good size burrito. The carne asada burrito is nicely marinated and cooked right! My food came to me nicely hot so it appears the meat isn’t just sitting around like most places.
Carne Asada Fries — My favorite! The fries here are thin and crispy. Very similar to McD’s fries if you know what I mean. The size is just right too.

Carne Asada Chips or Fries are now 6.75. still a deal compared to the other nearby taco shops.

Best Carne Asada Chips I’ve ever had! Chips taste super fresh, carne asada was full of flavor.
Honestly, I was skeptical at first upon receiving my plate, but wow, it was extremely delicious. That’s all I’ve had there and definetely found my go to spot for more!
Would of been 4 stars, but only because the food was very good did I give it 5 stars, the down part is that they take cash only. But hey, it’s listed on here so I went prepared (:

Just about everything in this tacos shop is good. It’s really easy to screw up
Mexican food, but this place is good all around. The one thing that I do not like and it’s just really bad in taste is their «aguas frescas» they are not fresh at all and they taste very old.
The downside to this place is that they only take cash. Besides this and their drinks everything is really good!

The only thing I have ever tried from this taco shop are the carne asada fries.
In my opinion they are to die for! Just delicious!

This is by far the BEST TACO SHOP ever! I LOVE theri carne asada fries with the meat super well done & I also ask for extra guacamole. Soooo DELICIOUS!

I been going to this place for a long time when I use to live in Chula Vista, and I never been disappointed. You can never go wrong with the Cali burrito, and carne asada fries. Everything else is pretty good on the menu. I just recommend going there before its late, because they do get busy, and they also only take cash.

Very good, a high three. Carne asada must be made fresh every day and by the way people order it, continually throughout the day you know it must be good.
The asada burrito is just one big hunk of yumminess. Very filling as well as flavorful.
CASH ONLY… don’t forget or you will leave hungry, angry and drooling.
And in the same strip mall is Fresh and Tasty, truly a mom and pop operation offering good, solid Chinese food. And if you want spice, go for the house noodles and feel your inlays start to melt.
Kudos to Hermanos as they serve ample portions of very excellent taco shop entrees.

By far my fav Mexican shop in SD hands down for Burritos & Carne Asada Fries! This place has the best Carne Asada of any Taco shop I’ve been to ever! And there prices are great (Cash only tho). It might be a little hole in the wall but it’s worth it!
My kids love there Roll Tacos! And service is nice & polite & there pretty fast & there open late! A lot of people in CV love Lollitas but to me this place is waaaaay better! This is real MEXICAN FOOD & Carne Asada!

Remember bring cash for this in-​expensive joint because you will want to order a lot to try everything!

Every once in a while I get a hankering for a heaping pile of tortilla chips topped with guacamole, cheese, and some hot sauce; hence I ended up here ordering such a plate of guacamole nachos for only $ 4.75 plus tax.
The came me a generous amount of chips and guacamole (
). The tortilla chips were nice and warm and had a great crunch and flavor. I liked the creamy well seasoned guacamole and I really loved the cheddar cheese and most of all, the fine grated Cotija cheese with its salty flavor (
). I use both the red and green hot sauce on the chips and guacamole and they were both very good. The red had more heat, but the green had more depth in flavor with it slight sourness (
). These were so good, that I polished off the whole plate.
The two gents who were running to place were cool. The younger one had a good sense of humor and gave me some tips on what to try on my next visit.

Yum! I work in Chula Vista, and wanted a burrito for lunch. So, I swung by this place after seeing good Unilocal reviews, and the reviewers are right!
I got a California Burrito and had to stop to review two bites in. So good! Delicious carne asada, crispy fries, and it comes with guacamole, salsa fresca, and sour cream. Most places you have to pay extra to load it up. The salsa is spicy but not too much and very flavorful. Paired with Horchata I gotta wrap this up so I can finish my delicious lunch!
Minus one star for being cash only. The reviews let me know and luckily I had cash today, but normally I’m a credit card only girl– and I feel like a lot of people are the same way.

Las mejores carne asada de la zona!!! Hemos probado como 4 de diferentes restaurantes y estas han sido las mejores, bien doraditas, la carne sin gorditos, mucho aguacate… bien servidas!!!

La Verdad estoy muy molesta mi hijo y yo fuimos a tiempos diferentes el dia de hoy el despues de escuela y yo despues de trabajo a comprar carne AsAda fries y pollo AsAda. Fries y estaban saladisimas Incomibles la salsa Rojas Esta asquerosa echada a perder y Es pura agua! Asquerosidad como pueden vender eso pesima comida!
