The caldo de rez was the bomb. They give you plenty of meat that was tender and not tough. Friendly service. Highly recommended.

The frijoles refritos are the best always fresh and hot. Great customer service. Carne asada burritos and carnitas are amazing! I’m going to order some food from here now!!!

My fiancé came home with what was supposed to be a nice gesture of yummy food and my fav menudo from the place down the street, unfortunately for me this was the worst menudo I have ever had!!:(no crushed red peppers sweet Onions ewwww dry granos tasteless meat and wtf is up with the fresh jalapeños is that what I supposed to substitute the red peppers for!!! No thanks. If I wanted that I would have bought a can of menudo. I went out immediately and bought menudo from Los Panchos!!! Talk about dissatisfied!!!

After I moved from Otay Ranch to older Chula Vista, I needed to find a place that would be our regular Mexican food place to eat. I happen to stumble into this place during our move. We decided to try it out. This place has become my go to spot. The food is great and I’m always ordering the combo #4 — bean tostada, beef taco, and cheese enchilada side beans instead of the spanish rice. The rest of my family has also enjoyed eating their carne asada burritos, rolled tacos and cheese quesadillas. Although the food is great, we tend to go to one of our other favorite spots when ordering carne asada chips or fries.

Quick, reasonably priced, and delicious! Just good flavor all around. I rarely eat-in, more of a stop-and-go for me. Need some comfort food? Try the off-menu«Especial de Burrito de Carne Asada, Arroz y Frijoles». A simple plate special consisting of a carne asada burrito and red rice and beans. Good portions, simple flavors, light on the wallet, satisfies the soul. Also, the breakfast items are good too! Try the machaca burrito! Yum! Definitely one of my faves and a hidden gem of Chula Vista.

Ok taco shop. Cheap prices but that also means that the food isn’t that great all the time. Good and fast if you need something on the run.

I should have asked for some ketchup to go with my carne asada fries. Once you get past the top layer it’s just plain fries. They should have called it fries with a sprinkle of meat and cheese. Not impressed at all.

HOLYSHIT! THATWASAMAZING! Tucked away behind the 7⁄11 gas station you’ll find Kotijas Taco shop in a small strip mall in Chula Vista. This is the spot or a spot when you need to satisfy your greasy rolled taco craving just before a wedding ceremony… like the one we had. Its a typical taco shop like any other that San Diego has to offer. Its open late and pretty much everything on the menu can be whipped up in no time at all. I tried to destroyed a plate of 5 rolled tacos with guacamole*. I lost. They were pretty filling, and they were less than $ 4. ¡Es una ganga! The rolled tacos were actually stuffed with REAL shredded meat… not some synthetic meat bi-product. They were amazing. Oh and if you only want a bean & cheese burrito I can guarantee that you’ll be saving the rest for later. They’re monstrous! Naturally, its family owned and it comes with friendly no nonsense service. They also serve up the all too popular hangover cure of Menudo on weekend mornings. Stop by if your in Chula Vista. Peace. *The guacamole is the same like other rolled taco shops. Its green, watery and tangy. I dont know what the hell it is but it’s gooooood.

In need of a greasy, mouth-watering hangover cure? Look no further… Kotija is your winning ticket to visual and mental clarity after a night of unlimited libations. Call me crazy but Kotija’s menudo contains the mystery spice needed to rid yourself of the ‘hangover blues,’ and their rolled tacos are ‘taco shop delicious.’ Granted, this IS in fact a taco shop, so arrive expecting a quaint, undecorated interior with pleasant cashiers and average speed of service. Many a morning have I aimlessly wandered in to this little shop desperately in need of a cure for mind-blasting pain, and every single time Kotija has been my savior!!!

Having lived in Chula Vista for 23 years, I only went to Los Taquitos for rolled tacos. Recently My mom branched out & tried some at Kotija(Mainly because she was on her way home & lives about 2 blocks away from Kotija) I must say the rolled taco special here is wonderful. 5 rolled tacos filled with ground beef as opposed to shredded beef. Covered in a delicious avocado sauce, lettuce & cheese. Very fair prices as well. I got the delicious rolled tacos &1 chicken enchilada(pretty good sized enchilada) for $ 5.90. The enchilada sauce tasted a little off though, a little too much like a mole sauce. It is next door to a laundry mat & behind a 7 – 11, not too visible. There were only 2 other people in there when I went in to order. The cashier was very helpful & nice. I will go back & see what else they have to offer.

I’ve driven by this place for years now but I’ve never felt eager to give it a shot. I was driving this morning in search of a breakfast burrito, with a minor hangover and with four bills at hand. So, I finally decided this will be the day to try it. Just for the record, Kotija’s is a rip off name of Cotija’s. That’s just my opinion. As I walked in, I felt empty. I wasn’t feeling the interior at all. It was too spacious without any ordainment’s and decorations. Where’s the Virgen Mary on the wall? They do accept cards, so as always, that’s a plus. Even though, I had cash on me for once. I ordered a breakfast burrito; egg, crispy fries, bacon and cheese for $ 3.50, not bad at all. The burrito itself was OK. It was a good size but it was missing flavor. The red and green hot sauce were beyond weak. They weren’t spicy at all. The green hot sauce looked neon green and it was watery. I was disappointed because hot sauce makes any burrito, a better burrito. The customer service was good. The girl was polite and sweet. However, I don’t see myself coming here again. Unless, my car runs out of gas near this taco shop.

I LOVE this place! From the outside it looks like a typical, grungy place(which is why it didn’t get the fifth star), but the food speaks for itself. The inside is not to great, again, typical taco shop, but who’s there for the looks. The food is super delicious. It is fresh and made when you order it. Also, the prices are extremely reasonable, more towards the cheep side. They have tons of combinations and specials. My absolute favorite is the Quesadilla Supreme which is about $ 3.00 buck and it’s huge. The salsas are also a staple, they are hand made and they are on the spicy side, to carer to their mostly-hispanic customers. The red one is my favorite and the most popular one. If you don’t care about looks, but about great Mexican food at reasonable prices, check them out. The customer service is great, they are friendly and polite. Although they stare at you non-stop while you’re looking at their menu deciding what to order. It’s kinda funny. It’s a family runed business so they are super nice and attentive. If you want good Mexican food, try Kotija!

Good neighborhood taco shop with all the standards. Fresh, made to order, and cheap. Not much bad to say except they charge to use a debit card, which the cashier didn’t tell me — but that’s a minor issue. And the restaurant was very hot inside, at least 80 degrees. Nevertheless, the carne asada burrito was super.
