It’s a nice park. Parking can sometimes suck on weekends. We have our annual family reunion here & there are never any problems with the maintenance or the homeless that seem to be at any and every park in this city. Great for big parties or just a nice walk

This park sucks. It’s dirty and smells funky. It has potential, though. Lots of space for cookouts and it could be a nice little stroll along the walkway, if your view wasn’t out to the brown, murky water. I felt like a bad mother letting my child play in that playground but hey, I had worse and turned out great!

Parks are nice. In urban/industrial areas, it is unquestionably a good thing to have spaces set aside, landscaped, manicured & available to the general public for outdoor activity & relaxation. So, at the very least, when it comes to Marina View Park, it’s the thought that counts. Unfortunately, the best thing about Marina View Park were the good intentions of building another park in Chula Vista. &, as the proverb goes, those good intentions pave the road to Hell. Because it certainly smells like the road to Hell at various spots in Marina View Park. With the shuttered South Bay Power Plant looming ominously in the background, there is the strongly noticeable smell of sulfur in the air at a number of locations in & around Marina View Park. Not good. I’m a chemist. I work in a lab every day. I wouldn’t want to smell as much sulfur at my work as I did at Marina View Park. I definitely don’t think it’s healthy to be exposed to it for extended periods of time outside in a park. Where’s that smell coming from? Is it possible to come into direct physical contact with hazardous sulfur compounds in Marina View Park? Breathing it is bad enough. But if it’s in the ground, laying on the grass can be really bad. Parks are nice, but sulfur-laden hazardous waste is not. I can’t claim to know with any degree of certainty that there’s a dangerous situation at Marina View Park, but the sulfur smell was enough for me to go elsewhere. note: I went there 3 consecutive days to confirm the presence of a sulfur smell & observed a strong odor at multiple locations all 3 days. I have emailed my observations to the Chula Vista City Government.

I’ve been coming here for forever. It’s one of my favorite spots for pondering. There’s pretty scenery, tables and grassy areas for a lunch picnic, cool breeze. Lots of trees to lay a blanket down under and read or take a nap. Nice place to stroll holding hands with your special someone. I just love coming here.

This is a nice park but lacks adequate parking on the weekend. Parking is only on the street. It has two play structures, grassy areas, bathrooms and covered picnic areas.
