Shampooch is now under new ownership and I will give them a try! I loved Shampooch when it was previously owned by Kim, but I moved to Kearny Mesa and moved my grooming needs to Hillcrest while I was living in Kearny Mesa. I’m now moving back to Chula Vista and plan on moving my grooming needs back to Shampooch. That being said — last month I did take my boys to Shampooch for what is generally known as a «sanitary groom» by most groomers. Shampooch calls this service their «Tidy Up.» While the Tidy up was needed and Shampooch did a great job I was shocked at the cost of a Tidy Up. Sanitary Grooms are generally $ 20/​pet (my boys are only 15 lbs each) at every place I’ve taken my boys to. Shampooch charges $ 40 for a Tidy Up which is exactly like a Sanitary Groom, but as you can see it’s twice the price. So My boys will be going back to Hillcrest for their monthly Sanitary Grooms and I’ll check the prices at Shampooch before booking their next full groom come spring. If their full groom services are more than what I’ve been paying in Hillcrest I know where my boys will be going.

This place is wonderful ! Fair pricing, friendly and personable staff. It’s quaint and clean and you and your pooch feel instantly welcome. I recommend this doggie salon if your looking for a smaller, more personal experience with a comfortable, cage-​free setting for your fur babies. The new owner is super nice and very good at what she does. I promise when I say, my dog has never looked better! She listens to exactly what you want and delivers ! It’s between $ 50-​$ 60 for a full bath, groom, and nails and I like to leave an $ 8-​$ 10 tip. I won’t go anywhere else in the area. Not to mention my dog loves it here! Woof woof!

This grooming salon is under new ownership, but the quality of work and kindness is the same! I never have a problem scheduling an appointment and I appreciate that she honors Kim’s prices for us old and loyal customers. The only problem is parking is very limited. Luckily you only have to park for a few minutes. I figure by the time the tow truck comes I’m out of there! I definitely recommend this place for your dogs!

This is most definitely my dogs and mines favorite doggie salon. I took my tri-​color beagle here prior to today’s visit. They have always been friendly, professional and reasonable with their prices. Currently under new ownership but I couldn’t tell the difference because I still received good customer service.
Fair warning the location is quite small, and hard to miss if unfamiliar with. Google map it. I only know of parking on the side street which can be quite busy. They don’t cage your dog, so any dog aggression let them know prior to visit. Like I did, because my dog is not dog friendly but they took care of her and watched her.
Overall good visit and fair prices, I highly recommend them it’s worth it

Amazing place, friendly staff. I am always worried leaving my fur baby to strangers but they did a great job. My pup was happy and looked great! Prices are great too.

Very nice staff. Made an appointment for one of my pups but I showed up with both of my doggies and they asked if I needed the other bathed as well. So they fit both dogs in at the last minute and gave both of them blueberry facials as well!!! Awesome! The only complaint I have is the storefront sign is barely noticeable so the business is really easy to miss when you’re driving by our even looking for it.

I was searching & searching for a groomer for baby MILO& I think I found a to go to groomer from now on. I called this morning and asked if they take walk-​in and kim said they usually don’t but she will squeeze my puppy in. When we arrived in the shop, kim was very friendly, walked us through what she will be doing. My puppy was so scared but she was so wonderful with him and was able to calm him down. Kim is such a sweetheart and she truly cares about the clients needs. The prices are very affordable & the result is very amazing. My puppy smelled and looked so good. I surely found a forever groomer for my puppy. :) I can’t wait to take milo back.

Brought my poodle here today. I was impressed. They did a good job. My dog smells and looks great! Much better than other groomers I have tried in the area. This will be my groomer of choice from here on out.

I wish I could give this place 10 stars!!! They are so awesome! Took my Maltese here for his first haircut ever and was nervous for the outcome. I wanted him cut a specific way and showed the groomer a picture of what I wanted. She did exactly what I asked for, and actually made him even cuter than the picture! I also let them know that he was very scared of the blow dryer and they told me the would put cotton balls in his ears so he wouldn’t be too scared, and that right there won me over! I will never get my dog groomed at any other place but here. They care so much about dogs and I know my little guy is safe with them. He was so calm and happy when I picked him up, unlike his behavior when I pick him up from baths at petsmart. His tail is usually down and he’s whining or scratching to get away. I love this place!!!

I was not able to groom my dog here, so this review is not about their grooming services which I am sure are very good.
The reason I am writing this is that I was not warned before hand that this is a kennel-​free environment. It is unfair to assume that every customer has a small dog or a very easy going large/​medium dog. My dog is a very large German Shepherd who has aggression issues towards some dogs, who wants to find out which dog she doesn’t like?
I spoke on the phone to make the appointment and they did not mention their arrangements or ask if my dog was friendly with other dogs even though I did tell them the dog’s breed and size. When I was there they tried to improvise a solution, which I think is nice but totally unsafe and stupid as the consequences could be terrible if anything went wrong.
We left because they were not prepared to handle a large dog that needs it’s own space.
They could have mentioned this before I drove over there… hence the two stars.

My other groomer happened to be closed and I really needed to get my baby groomed. I looked at Unilocal and was also referred by a friend. Took my teacup yorkie in today. Called at 9:30am and they were able to accommodate me with a same day appointment. When we arrived, Susie would be our groomr, she came out and greeted us. She asked my expectations of how I wanted Bella cut. She also made some excellent suggestions. I told her I trusted her judgment and to do what looked best on her. A couple of hours later I received a call that she would be done in 20 mins… perfect time to drive from home in IB. Showed up and Bella was running around playing with the other pooches and seemed very happy. As far as how she looked… AMAZING! Probably the best cut I’ve seen on her… exceeded my expectations! Great customer service from beginning to end! Highly recommend!
Also, I added a blueberry facial per my friends recommendation! It is awesome, don’t pass it up!

Just got done at shampooch and my pugs are so happy and smell amazing!!! I didn’t even know it was pug wednesday and was surprised with the free blueberry facials and discounts! The staff is so awesome and friendly, so glad we found a great place for our furbabies. Definitely recommending this place to everyone we know (:

Best dog haircuts ever! I’ve been taking my 3 year old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier here for over 2 years now and I wouldn’t dare take him anywhere else! All the staff are amazing, friendly, and truly care for your dog! The rapport that they build not only with your dog but with their owners is by far what makes them stand out among other pet groomers. Their prices are reasonable. Oh and did I mention how amazing they actually cut dogs hair! Their attention to detail is by far the best I’ve seen! You can truly tell that Kym, the owner, has a passion for dogs and doing what she does. You will not be let down!

The only reason I give 4 stars is because I specifically chose to bring my baby girl in at 10 so that I can make my appointment at 10:30, so upon my arrival the lady at the front seemed like she had an attitude that we arrived at 10 (someone had wrote us down for 10:30). Overall the rest of the staff were generous and tried to warm my baby girl up (it was her first time) Sam did an amazing job on Mimi’s haircut. I showed her a picture and she explained because of the different hair texture certain areas won’t look the same but she will try to get as close to the look I wanted as she can in which she did just that!

This place is absolutely wonderful!!! We have a Newfoundland in the middle of shedding season and these wonderful ladies made our Newfie shine!!! She was brushed, washed (multiple times), and given a blueberry facial. We are one happy family and will continue to go back for all our grooming needs!

This was my fourth or fifth time getting my 2 dogs (a bichon and a shichon) groomed here but my first experience with Nicole (pretty sure that was your name?!?) as our groomer. I had the chance to park outside and spy on the process a bit, and I observed my little Belle, who is incredibly timid and afraid of strangers, being groomed and she looked so calm and relaxed! Nicole was a sweetheart and exuded a calm presence which I’m sure made a big difference to my dogs. It took longer than expected for them to be finished but I appreciate that she was willing to put in the extra time to make sure the haircuts were perfect. Just a heads up, prices have been raised a bit but it’s totally worth it for the assurance that my babies are being cared for in a stress free atmosphere, and will come out looking amazing! Thank you guys so much :)

I was looking for a great place that was going to get the job done and not rip me off for a ugly cut on my dog like petsmart usually does
Im really glad I found this place here on Unilocal,it was a little hard to locate it since it has no big sign outside? The people here are GREAT. You will not regret bringing your dog here. The lady did excatly what I wanted, all for a really great price! I didn’t even recognize my own dog when I walked in! Haha. Definitely will come here next time!

We used to take our dog Pepper to PetSmart for her haircuts and every single time it would be a hit or miss which we’ve been doing ever since she was a puppy. However when we last took her to PetSmart, she was very hesitant to come in and was fighting to come back to the store. We believe she was mistreated and has been traumatized from her last visit.
Which led us to bring Pepper here to Shampooch! My first impression when coming here was that all the dogs were not caged and were all lollygagging around with each other. The groomers were very nice and insightful to what kind of haircut Pepper should get since we were unsure. Approximate haircut time was about 2−3hrs.
When we came back for Pepper, we were completely in awe of how absolutely cute Pepper looked! Her fur was completely even and she looked like a cloud of fluff. Her nails were nicely trimmed and smooth. Her teeth were brushed and her face smelled so wonderful thanks to the blueberry facial.
Overall, we were completely happy with the service and how amazing Pepper’s haircut came out. Will definitely continue to bring Pepper here! Highly recommend.

I have a Shih Tzu/​Poodle and she usually gets groomed at Petsmart. They do a great job but its so expensive!!!
I tried this place today and it was great!!! It was so easy to make an appointment the day before unlike petsmart where we only have a certain person do her grooming.
I dropped her off and they offered the blueberry facial and toothbrushing for an extra, which I got both. When you get toothbrushing you also get a toothbrush to take home with you and if you bring it back they give you a discount the next time!
Her appointment was at 1230 and she was done at 330. It was awesome to know that they let the dogs roam while they groom so you know your pet is just not caged in the whole time they are there.
When i picked her up she had just finished and she was excited to go home and she looked wonderful! Her nails were not sharp, her haircut was clean, and she was very clean!
Overall great quality and a little bit cheaper than Petsmart but hey every dollar counts! Will be going to this groomer from now on.

I bring all three of my dogs here. The girls here are just wonderful. They really care about my dogs and are always happy to see them, even my problem girl who is allergic to life. When I only bring one, they ask about the others. I will always recommend Shampooch over any other grooming spot. Plus my dogs are done in two hours or less.
If you want a groomer who will take care of your pet and love your pet just as much as you do, Shampooch is the place to go.
