South Bay YMCA Kari Lyn Sutherland Gymnastics Center

I am giving this place 1 star only because it is hard to get a hold of someone regarding gymnastics. When you call this place you get the operator but once they transfer you to who you need to speak with, they always go voicemail. When you leave a message, no one calls back and when you email they take forever to respond (IF they even respond!)

Let me start by saying that the staff was super friendly, and answered all of my questions… I didn’t feel rushed either! I had been bringing my daughter for classes, but never joined. After I was given a tour of the facility, and knew all they had to offer, my daughter and I are now members at such a great price per month. I wish I signed up years ago!

I just started going to this Y as my son began playing league basketball. I cannot say enough about the friendly, enthusiastic staff. Coach Mel is great and my son loves learning basketball fundamentals from her. It is not easy task to corral busy 4 – 6 year olds but the staff at this Y do the trick beautifully. I am eager to place him in other league sports through the YMCA.

YMCA is a great facility and a very bad one. The pros is it’s cheap price compared to other gyms, it has brand new and efficient machines and has great cycling and TRX classes. The cons is weight lifting. This is the first gym that has less than 5 barbells. It only has 2 for flat bench 1 for incline bench and 1 for a squat rack. This is too little equipment for an entire gym and this results in me having to wait 30 min just to start benching b/​c someone took the bench bar to do curls or whatever leaving me with nothing to do until I can start my bench session

I love this place! It’s a newer facility with a more open layout and my daughter loves coming here for her ballet classes. They also have a separate sports complex across the street where you can go play basketball or whatever other sport your in to.

I cancelled my B2BE subscription because of this facility! Better customer service, cardio equipment and child care services here!!! I wish all B2BE members come and join this wonderful hidden gem in the neighborhood!!!

This place is amazing! I’ve been a member for 8 months now and it’s always impeccable, the machines are well kept and in working condition. I’ve taken cycle, zumba, body pump and interval training classes. All excellent classes! Most instructors are well informed and on point with their classes.
Note: if you are taking a Zumba class with Ana, Akisha or Cecy you are in good hands. There used to be an instructor called Michelle! She was my favorite! full of energy and you could get not only a good workout but a fun one with her! Please bring her back!

I love the YMCA. It has definitely changed our lives in a good way. I’m very happy that south Chula Vista has two locations to choose from. Both locations offer the same classes at different times so they definitely work well with anyone’s schedule. I go to the Eastlake one for all of my child’s classes. They have a fantastic and cost effective gymnastics program. My daughter also Athens ballet here as well. The best part is the military discounts! Check it out because it’s worth it

2311 Boswell Ave is the correct address for. Gymnastics, Cross training, and childcare. 2390 is where they have the martial arts and gymnasium. But go up the street where the gymnastics and the gym are located. You will surely be impressed with the facility. The cardio equipment are all with tvs. They use Precor equipment which are all brand new. I wish they had a stairclimber, but they have ellipticals, treadmills, & stationary bikes.
The facility is new so everything is clean and well kept. They have family memberships which are only $ 65/​month and include childcare for up to 2 hours (up to 6 kids) including newborns (score for me!). The childcare area is divided into 2 — newborns up to 5 and 5 and up. They are clean and looks like they do a good job with the kids.
They have open gymnastics, free for 18 mos to 3 yrs. they have lots of exercise classes, including cycle.
Everyone who works there are all friendly and nice. Membership allows you access to the YMCA by costco. Shower facilities are clean and not musty. We canceled our membership with B2BE because this facility is cheaper and offers similar features (we were paying close to $ 300 for 2 adults and 1 kid). When you think of the Y, you don’t imagine this place — it’s so nice! I was hesitant to post a review because I want to keep it low key, but this place deserves the 5 star recommendation!

I am writing this review for the new Eastlake YMCA & gymnastics center. My daughter is on the gymnastics team & the gym is absolutely awesome! It is 3x larger than the last center & nicer than the other area gyms I have seen at competitions. If your child is age 3 – 12 and has any interest in gymnastics this is the best place to go for price, facilities, & great coaches!
They also have 3 exercise rooms, childcare, & weight room. I have taken Body, pump, Yoga, and Zumba. All of the classes have been very good! The only downside I have seen is the music for Body Pump was out of date & Yoga took place the same time as Yoga & the room wasn’t properly sound proofed so you can hear bass the whole time.
The staff seems pretty rushed & stressed with the new gym & all of the people inning up, but it will probably slow down after a couple of months.

Fall 2013 Eastlake YMCA will be opening it’s new $ 1.45 Million project offering new group classes, Kid Zone, Zumba, Bodypump, & Precor exercise equipment. This project is completely funded by the YMCA and will create 39 new positions. If you are familiar with the well oiled machine at YMCA Rancho Del Rey, you will love this great addition to the Eastlake Community.
The gymnastic center will still be there offering the same classes, but now it gives greater options to the parents to exercise at the same time. YMCA membership from the Main branch in Rancho del Rey will INCLUDE Eastlake.
