I usually don’t order chicken fried steak after having a terrible experience with both dennys and ihop but my oh my was I in for a surprise. Once my plate arrived I was in awe, the difference between the plate I had recieved elsewhere was trash compared to the one sitting in front of me. The gravy was delicious! Customer service is great and so is the environment.

This place truly left me with my mouth wide open. The steaks are seasoned perfectly, they’re soft and enjoyable. House fries are amazing. Plates are served well. The staff are friendly and offer a nice welcoming environment. Definitely will be coming here more often!

The restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside but the food was good. I ordered the Hawaiian Steak burger with seasoned fries. The service was fast. The burger was delicious. We had to park across the street because there is no parking.

Chula Vista Unilocalers have no idea what a decent cheesesteak is. Apparently the folks over at SCSBB don’t either. Oh well. Here we go… So my coworker and I were nice and baked and started talking about food, cheesesteaks in particular. Google it up, best cheesesteak in Chula. McGonagles(NOT in Chula, haha, closed, wah wah) was number one and I agree, but alas they are closed. Jersey Mikes(pretty sure that is National City as well) super dank but still a chain. We want something new, something fresh, something super fatass out of this world delicious. South Cali Steak Burger Bar, eh? I’ve seen the joint plenty of times just sitting there all empty and desolate looking. I could give a shit about how a place looks. Can they throw down some grub?! Then I’m in. After reading some super positive reviews(and some not so positive reviews) we said fuck it, give em a try. I had to hold down the fort so the homie went to pick up the grub. When he was leaving I said«Hey, no peppers on mine.» because bell peppers have no business on a Philly. Wanna fight about it?! When he got back the first thing he said was«These don’t feel like authentic Phillies.» Warning sign #1. Super light, the onion rings weighed as much as the sandwiches. Then he informed me that when he told the dude no peppers the dude immediately asked if we wanted the lettuce or tomatoes either. Warning sign #2. This IS a cheeseteak, right, NOT a hoagie?! Ok, let’s see this thing. Ugh. Color me bummed. But hey, I still haven’t tasted it yet, right? Ugh. They definitely didn’t skimp on the onions. Long strands of yellow onion. Not perfectly diced white onions. There was more onions than meat, which actually turned out to be a good thing. The meat was what appeared to be thin sliced skirt steak stuff from some shitty vendor like Cisco. I’m thinking this is the same stuff they put on their gyros. Bummer for the gyro people. Salty and slightly tough, this is not the things that dreams are made of. Maybe bad dreams. I just burped as I am writing this and it was sad. I could have made a better sandwich out of my roommate Shaman’s Birkenstocks. But I hear their burgers are stellar and I LOVE supporting local businesses so I vow to give them another chance. If their burgers are as good as people claim I will officially bump them up to a four star. But not a five unless they pull this tragedy of a sandwich off their menu and publicly apologize for duping the fine people of the South bay with that hate filled cheesefake.

Its kind of hard not to judge a book by it’s cover on this one so yea Unilocal!Came in with my family one day and we had a satisfactory meal. Dad had the bacon cheeseburger, mom had the charbroiled chicken sandwich and I forgot what I had, but I remember we were all satisfied with our food. Good size ½lb burgers. I think? Wanna try the Greek food next. not too sure about the breakfast though. has anyone tried it? Just a note to the owner: The seating and carpet make you feel like your at home eating not in a public restaurant. throw some wood up in that place! Maybe its because it was a slow day but the place seemed dead and boring maybe try some music or some more tv’s. Just one man’s opinion. other than that the burgers are great!

So I’ve only been here for breakfast. And only twice. And I had the $ 4.99 French toast breakfast both times. So my experience is still limited. But the coffee and French toast for breakfast here is really good. Four halves of yummy French toast and four pieces of bacon for $ 4.99? It’s perfect! The only thing is there’s very limited parking. As in like three spots. But you can park in the street. The staff is friendly. And it wasn’t too busy for us to get a table right away on a Sunday morning!(In comparison, we drove by IHOP on our way here and there was a long line of people sitting on benches waiting to get in. For food that probably costs more and doesn’t taste as good as the food here.) If I come here and have something else and it’s not as good as the French toast breakfast, I’ll update my review. But for now I really like this place and will be going back!

I really struggled to rate this experience… in the end, a solid 3 star. We found this place only by the Unilocal reviews, and would never have gone inside without the reviews to lead us in. The outside of the restaurant is run down. There are only a few spots outside, and the neighborhood is not one I’d usually want to park and walk away from. Walking inside the restaurant is a step up from the outside. We were seated immediately on a Friday night around 6pm. There wasn’t a crowd. Inside there is a big TV that was playing sports. Eladio, our server, was awesome and friendly. The food was quick and tasted good. For the area it is priced well, was filling, and was quick. Overall happy we stopped, but might pick another spot next time we’re in town for a concert.

From the start, I was a little apprehensive about coming inside. There are only 3 parking spaces and it looks like it might not be open from the outside, but Unilocal proclaimed 4+ stars. Glad I trust Unilocal, because the place is off the chain. Amazing burgers, large kids meals and friendly staff make this spot a new addition to my favorites in Chula Vista.

My boyfriend and I come here every now and then and we love it. The owners are an awesome family that work very hard and the dad cooks some GREAT food! I get the French toast which is yummy. My man gets the Asian chicken salad that comes with some bomb bread. Come here with your family and enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner!

This place was not what I was expecting! Well my friends and I decided to come here based on the Unilocal reviews. We were waiting for the Lana Del Rey concert so we wanted to grab some food. I don’t have much to say but this place was okay. Pretty cheap! Depending on what you get? I got the chicken gyro w/seasoned fries. That came out to about $ 10. It was okay. Also, nice server with great service!

Ok after seeing the rating I’m like uhhh? Now it’s more like a 2 and a half stars. I just had their porter house steak, cook medium rare, this past Saturday. Well it’s ok, the service was good, and it’s clean for the most part. I wasn’t really impressed, and let me put it to you like this, it ain’t no Black Angus. Plus my steak did not look nothing like the other persons picture of their porter house steak! I feel robbed lol!, but I will give it another shot since I see a hand full of steak burger shots, and reviews. Maybe that’s their gem?

Went here for dinner tonight. I had the fish & chips. The fish was fried in a light batter. The French fries were good. The meal came with a salad & cheese bread. It was so delicious & filling. I also had an ice tea to drink. Service was good because there were only a few other people in the restaurant. We also had a coupon from the Entertainment book which helps to feed a family of 3. Great place to eat with so many options if you are not craving a burger. I highly recommend.

TL;DR burgers, Philly cheese steak, and fries are superb. The ribs are also worthy of a try. I would avoid plate/dinner dishes though. My experiences so far indicate sandwich/burger forms are delightful while fork and knife dishes are mediocre. Service depends on who’s up front. Best is the big guy, very amiable and curt. Next best is a young lady who’s courteous but shy. Worst is the teenage girl who doesn’t really check up on you or do much else to provide service. — — — — — — — — - I tried the steak shrimp and chicken this time. The top sirloin steak was well done, nice grill marks but chewy. Not very tender. The shrimp was breaded fried. I thought it would be a leaner option, not something that is, as I expect, something from a box and reheated or fried. 3 pieces. Hardly worthy of being part of the plate. The chicken thigh was flavorful but dry. Sides are plentiful as always, including buttered toast and rice, but I try to keep my starchy carbs down and prefer to eat veggies. That said, I don’t tend to finish them but they are right on flavor wise. Disappointing plate. Keep to burgers, fries, and ribs. Might try a sandwich next time though.
