Great staff, good selection, if you need something they don’t have they will order it. I’ve been coming here since May 2015 for all of my saltwater tank needs and have always been treated well, and received healthy fish and inverts. Mike is a pleasure to talk to, he is patient and very knowledgeable. I’d recommend this place to anyone.

These guys rock!!! Any questions you have, they will have an answer to help out. Bought many snakes from them, all fed well and had no problems transitioning them! Any time I had a question, they jumped to help me out. Very straight forward guys that have a true passion for the trade. Dealing strictly captive bred animals too, you don’t have to worry about something that was wildly trapped and imported from who knows where…

I’ve been going to Reef&Reptile since they were Southbay next door to the vet. They’ve always had great staff & the feeders/​product when I need it. Great place to go if you want feel like you’re more than a customer.

If i could give 0 stars I would ! This place is HORRIBLE. most of there leopard geckos are sick ! They are misbred. Which they will tell u is completely fine. A gecko SHOULD NOT HAVE A HEAD TILT. It is not genetically correct. It is caused by poor breeding. All of them are kept in lil white boxes with no room to roam around or and lights or heating. It’s horrible. I unfortunately bought a leo for 125 from them which was a mistake. The one I originally had gotten had a horrible head tilt so I asked for another or my money back. Which at first he refused. All he had to say was head tilts were normal… walking in circles is normal… it’s not! I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. DO NOT SHOP HERE !

The girl who helped us was really sweet. Baes wanted a snake and he got himself a freakin snake. The place itself looks smaller from the entrance && it kinda small. but they have a lot of different types of reptiles && salt water fish. And mye xperience with the snake i held ugh motherfucker bit me in the nose!!! Have never happened to me before but then again ive never held a snake with a dog in the other hand. Ill be back tho for the snakes food… ewwww !!! But the girl was hella nice and look out for «monster» the fat cat who sits outside waiting for crickets… so cool!

horrible, it really doesnt even deserve one star, i traded in 100 $ worth of fish and they gave me in store credit for 18 $. the place smells like crap, their lights arent even working, they abused me because im a kid, their fish are all dying and they have hermit crabs eating all the dead fish. then the owner is a lazy bum who whines about having to pay $ 8000 USD to keep the corals open for kids like me to come and ask questions without buying anything and to keep taking up all of their time. ILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.

Been a customer since they were open as South Bay Tropicals down on 3^rd Avenue, and it’s still my favorite store and a true gem to have down in Chula Vista. The new location is a little smaller, but still has mostly everything you would need if you’re a hobbyist.
The owner Mike is very knowledgeable about their fish and reptiles, and he actually breeds about 90% of the animals they have in stock. The tanks are always clean and well maintained, and their selection is so helpful to have as a fish enthusiast, no need to order things for your aquarium or terrarium online. They even sell water for your aquariums, which is super helpful for some delicate fish as the Discus!
They will go above and beyond to help you with any questions, and everybody is always very pleasant and kind. I will be a loyal customer forever!

I used to come here when it was still Southbay Tropical. Someone in my family has always had a reptile, usually a snake. They have always gone here for their live feeders. Now that I too have a ball python, I visit here as well. They are the only place in the South Bay with live feeders. It is surprisingly rare to find! The staff here are always ready to assist and helpful. I ask them questions constantly about the feeding and care of my snake. I am not a huge fan of their new location, but I do love that I have a place to go for my reptile needs.

After seeing a post of theirs on a website, I figured I’d swing by & check it out. So unlike everyone else who had been to the old location, I had no preconceived notions what to expect from this place. As soon as I walked in, I was warmly greeted, & then given a tour of the store (only to find out later that it was Mike, the owner). The animals are obviously well taken care of, & are of high quality. I left feeling comfortable, knowing that I had found a place that was reliable, whether I needed mealworms or was looking to get a new pet.

I used to love visiting southbay tropical unfortunately it was closed down for reasons unknown, I recently found out about their new location. I visited and was excited to see the reef and coral frags.
upon my arrival it was a bit depressing and disappointing their fish were held in tiny boxes with no sand or room to swim. In addition their corals are so expensive and dull in color, they literally cut a zoa colony into single polyps and sell each polyp for $ 20!!! SINGLE POLYPS for $ 20!!! I can get a whole colony for $ 20 in other locations. They might still be getting set up since the move but the coral prices and frag sizes should not be so expensive and so small. im sorry guys but that’s too much. I rather make the long drive to Kearny Mesa and get some real coral .
Anyway I will not stop at this place again any time soon. maybe in 2 years once they get set up but I doubt they will last that long with the way things look. Maybe they should just sell reptiles they had a good selection on that I guess extra star for their reptiles

Formerly known as Southbay Tropical Marine and Reptile. This is their new location. It is a lot different and smaller than the old location. Im assuming something went wrong with their old business but thats besides the point.
They still have feeders which is what I only buy from them. Awhile ago as SB Tropical Marine and Reptile, they sold me a Bearded Dragon that had MBD. I was new to Bearded Dragons and reptiles period. So little did i know at the time of purchase, she had MBD and had a toe missing along with a nip tail that the guy bad never mentioned. It was a pretty Citrus Leatherback so I said why not and purchased it. She now walks as if shes crippled with one of her front legs. Other than that she is healthy.
Anyways like I said, this place is good for feeders. Their supplies are a little pricier compared to LLLReptile but they are closer to where I live.
