Cicero Stadium

I’ve only been inside this place for the annual Golden Gloves Tournament. It’s basically a suburban park district field house, but it’s roomy enough to support the activities they have. It takes awhile to get to from most areas in and around Chicago, whether by car or public transportation. Cicero Stadium is close to the Pink Line train. However, the block it sits on is a bit deserted which is a concern when going up there in the evening.

I came here to watch some fights. Was a nice family friendly place to do so, because usually fights are in bars where everyone is crowded around with their beers trying to look. This was obviously a stadium, and a good place if kids wnated to see an event like this. I shouldn’t comment on the fights, but the fights were good, they did not have a good «main event though». Anyways the building is nice but the stadium is in a poor location. Kinda shady. Good thing i’m a runner

I liked the stadium when I was there a few times to see some wrasslin’…but that was 1995. It hasn’t changed a bit since then. I think if Mr. Dominick had to spend money somewhere, it would have to be the stadium. I would upgrade it, install AC – make it an attention-​seeking venue that can add more of an arts/​entertainment value to Cicero. Cicero is not a bad town. The residents are just bored of all the new SOCCER fields. (I hate soccer).
Mr. Dominick, if you read any of these reviews, and are concerned with the likes/​dislikes of all your residents, you would understand that the stadium is a gem for entertainment and can generate tons of revenue. Fix it and rent it! Then maybe you can convince Vince McMahon to have Smackdown there or even convince Bruce Dickinson to have Iron Maiden play there!
Oh, and stop building new soccer fields. Yes, we’re Latinos living in Cicero, we get it, but not all of us like soccer. Let’s get some batting cages or another indoor basketball facility somewhere. Heck, maybe even an indoor football arena!

This place is old and a dive for stadiums go. The Bleachers look like they are cleaned by Mr Magoo. The concessions are stale. The events are usually bad. I guess they got Roller Derby now. I guess that is a step up from Mexican wrestling and rough boxing.

I went to the Cicero Stadium to watch the Windy City Rollers. It’s not a bad stadium. The concrete benches are extremely uncomfortable after a while. The concession stand is ok. It reminds me of going to basketball games when I was in high school except now I can drink beer… or I would have been drinking beer if they offered something other than Budwiser.

So I thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Cicero Stadium to watch the Windy City Rollers! It was very easy for us to find because not only is it right off of the highway, you really can’t miss the huge words «Cicero Stadium» on the front. The parking was $ 5, which is a good deal because I would pretty much pay anything not to park on the streets in Cicero… we have had not so many good experiences with Cicero parking!
We then walked in and even though a bunch of people were walking in, it was not chaotic at all and we just walked up to the Will Call/​Internet Tickets table and got our hands stamped and were on our way. We made a stop at the Ice Cream machine and picked up some mediocre Blue Bunny ice cream. We headed upstairs and I felt like I was walking into my high school gym to watch a basketball game or something, a very cool feeling!
They had a table where they were selling pizza, nachos, Gatorade and a bunch of other things. Reasonably priced for a sporting event. The bathrooms bad quite a few stalls and we never had to wait too long in a line to get in. The ladies just got in and got out! Loved that!
Then there was the Windy City Rollers «stuff» table. With shirts and other novelty items. I ended up buying a t-​shirt because I had worn a sweatshirt and got VERY hot within about 10 minutes of being in the stadium! No A/​C is definitely a downside, but it would not stop me from coming back, not by a long shot! I will just wear a tank top next time and it will be just fine!
I will definitely be back here to watch some more Derby action!

I honestly didn’t think this place was half bad.
I mean yeah, it’s in Cicero. Ok, can’t get around that. However, it is directly off 290W, very easy to get to… via car. It’s a Cicero Park District Fieldhouse… so yep, that’s basically what it is like.
They have a large, gated parking lot. And… the Windy City Rollers play there, that is a stellar reason for a trip to Cicero Stadium! It sort of just «fits» with the vibe, and I enjoyed it ;)

I haven’t been to the Congress when the roller derby girls were there, I have only been here once. It is not some glamorous stadium, it is old school. It is creaky, it apparently doesn’t have air condition, it is rough it seems to fit the need for the roller derby girls. Lots of room for spectators, enough room for a track and they sell beer at the game. Don’t look for fancy amenities, don’t look for sky boxes, but do come to support the roller derby girls, because… well that is the only reason why i would come here.

I was skeptical about this place when I heard that the Windy City Rollers were leaving the Congress.
The upside about this place — they have enough room for a full sized roller derby track. That’s about it.
The downside — This is was Dante was talking about. The hottest, stickiest, sweatiest, most uncomfortable place on the planet to try and enjoy anything.

The word «Stadium» should be in quotation marks, this is really just a park district fieldhouse with bleacher seating, not a large modern sports complex. Among the events that Cicero Stadium hosts are roller derby, boxing, and pro wrestling. As an entertainment venue, it does have a few things going for it — it’s located on an uncongested, mostly industrial stretch of Laramie Av, there are a few cheap parking lots nearby, and the CTA Pink Line stops a few blocks to the south. A word of caution if you plan to attend an event there during the summer — Cicero Stadium has no air conditioning, so it can get pretty darn hot & sticky inside when it is filled with patrons. The facilities (food, restrooms) are pretty spartan, and the staff is fairly pleasant.
