G & S Tire Repair

This is an excellent tire repair place. The owner is honest and provides fast competent service. I have been there several times for repairing rims and replacing tires. He gave me
a fair price and quickly did the repair. Its usually a cash transaction!

Surprised I haven’t reviewed this place before. Oh yea, i know why… i dont want the place to get too busy for me. The most honest place for tires I’ve been to in life. They tell you what you need and nothing extra and get it done quick cheap and fast. recommend recommend recommend!!!

I’ve been here twice and both times haven’t been pleasant. I came here once to simply get air in my tires. The guy in charge was talking with someone else and flat out ignoring me. After he finished talking he asked what I needed, I simply said air while holding about $ 4 he said «sorry we’re closed» while the air hose was a few feet away from my car.
About 3 weeks ago I decided to stop by and buy two used tires for my pick up. The same guy was there a chubby guy with glasses. I gave him the tire size and asked if he had any used ones he then gave me the «Ughhh I have to go look» face.
A few minutes later he comes back out and tells me that he does have two used tires for my pick up and wants to charge me $ 80 for EACH used tire.
I left and bought NEW tires for $ 77 each at a local pepboys,
I’m not sure what his problem is but he always seems to have an attitude I may and I repeat I MAY put up with an attitude if I’m getting a deal but an attitude for overpriced tires?
No thanks.

These guys are amazing!!!
During crazy rain storm a few days ago, my car was stranded in Cicero at Morton College… nowhere to walk to, no one who knew how to change a tire. (atleast they were pursuing education in other arenas like myself lol)
Called these guys up, they came within an hour, and put on a spare for $ 40. not bad considering it was a terrible rain storm (I honestly would have pulled over if I was driving it was so bad, and I’m not afraid of any weather, born and raised in Chicago’s fabulously extreme weather :) I have never found a place that will COME TO YOU!!, let alone in a rainstorm, to fix the tire!.. brought used tires incase, all the tools, etc., and was there within the hour (may have been earlier, but that just happened to be when my class was ending, so I told him around 4 that I’d be free at 5– he was there at 5!) He finished in less than 5 min. and asked if I wanted to come to the shop to have my tire fixed, replaced, or if I wanted to pay and be on my way. no pressure. I am super busy and know I would probably end up forgetting my spare was on there during my long commute one day and it would give out, so I said I’d follow him to shop to check out problem.
— I get to shop, a car was pulling out so I got helped right away. he looked at my tire and told me huge bolt was in it. not suprised cuz I take I-​55 everyday to and from school, and with all the construction and semi-​trucks on there, I see at least 1 car on side of road with busted tire every day from crap all over expressway.
–Then told me that they could fix my tire for $ 15, but that it would be no guarentee because the hole was so big… but it was my call.
–Again, thinking of the liklihood of me wanting to deal with that in the future, opted for a used tire. normally $ 70 for my car, but said he’d give it to me for $ 60 for an even $ 100 for everything.
Oh– and here was the cherry on top: 7 months ago I was at Lucas Auto Care for an oil, lube, filter change, tire rotation and 35 pt. inspection– they told me I needed 2 new tires in the front, and proceeded to put them on the back for rotation– which is a bad idea cuz you want more worn tires to stay in front, expecially in bad weather conditions such as chicago., said they were «dangerous» and only had 3 – 4 months of life left in them max, but that I should probably just purchase some of their tires now (at the time; july of 2012.) It is now 7 months later and G&S TIRE REPAIR TOLD ME THAT THOSE 2 «BAD» TIRES WERE STILL IN GREAT SHAPE!!! IMAGINE– A TIRE PLACE, THAT ONLY MAKES MONEY ON TIRES, BEING COMPLETELY HONEST WITH A NIAVE FEMALE DESPITE WHAT ANOTHER AUTO PLACE SAID!!! G&S won me over. and honestly even though I live in lincoln park, even after finishing school up at Morton I will go out of my way to go to G&S to get my tires fixed, replaced, etc… AWESOME!!! A+++!!
