I’ve been going to this one ever since I was a very little kid. I’ve always loved this small food chain. The Lucky Dog on Roosevelt in Cicero pretty much fueled my life for the year of 2012 when I was placed on house arrest. I could eat this food everyday and not get sick of it! Lucky Dog is for life !

The fries are decent but border on over cooked. The hot dogs, however, are grocery store quality. They do not steam the buns and the beef franks do not have the natural casing. They are the cheap, grocery store dogs. The reason to buy the franks without the natural casing is because they are inexpensive, but Lucky Dog charges premium prices for their dogs and serve a mediocre dog. I wasn’t so lucky with their dogs. Also, it helps if the cashier knows how to count. If I order 4 hotdogs, I expect 4, not 3. Bottom line: a restaurant that has«dog» in it’s name is expected to serve a fantastic dog, Lucky Dog does not deliver.

Stopping in for a couple burgers to take home. Instead of waiting for the next customer, someone should sweep the floors! I do like their burgers, but don’t like the messy look

You know who makes the best French fries in America, Luck Dog that’s who, in Cicero, IL. My husband orders there frequently, he gets chili fries for my son, I get a cheeseburger, mustard and onions only and my husband he tries different meals. But, we all love the French fries, and last Saturday, they gave us some extra fries, OMG! was fabulous. I love their fries, it’s probably the first time my husband and I didn’t argue(sometimes ferociously) who got more fries.

The lady taking the order from the drive thru was nice. I went here not too long ago and I ordered a gyro sandwich. I didn’t like it. The meat was a bit cold and the cucumber sauce(I can’t spell it) was very sweet. I didn’t eat it all. I just ate a few pieces of the meat, then wrapped it up and put it in the fridge. I hate sweet things on my savory foods. Then the next morning, I felt very sick to my stomach. Most awful feeling ever. Not quite sure it was the gyro, but it was the last thing I had eaten and I was feeling perfectly fine up until then.

I love their soups on a chilly day. The small is enough for me. The employees are so nice. I’ve always liked lucky dog and this one is no exception. It’s great when you’re low on cash and hungry. The food is not expensive at all and very filling. The blts are huge I need to smash it down before I can even take a bite, because it’s si huge. The lemonade is my favorite drink from there.

What a great place for cheap but good tasting food! I’ve tried a few different things here and I have to say this is overall a good place to eat. The fires are especially great! Cons: Very high counter/register for ordering would make it hard for a smaller person to be able to order quickly or see the horchata sign all the way in back. Not that much of a problem. Just found it a bit unusual for me but I understand if safety is the reason or something of that sort. A tiny bit rude in the service department. I’m used to smiling waitresses and waiters when I order food but I can understand if their tired so I really don’t hold it against them; we don’t know their hours after all! But I do know some people expect«gracious servers» for all things so just in case that could sour someones perception of this I’m giving you a heads up. Personally, I found that this really wasn’t all that much of a problem, for me. I’m there to eat after all, not socialize. Small tables. Enough to fit one person comfortably on each side, maybe two if you really push it and are more on the thin side. This was the only real annoyance for me. It isn’t uncomfortable to sit at the table but for a larger party this might be a real inconvenience.

Was in the neighborhood and needed a small snack to tide me over until dinner time and ordered the hotdog with everything on it and fries for less than $ 3! It was a good hot dog, tasted like Kosher, but I’m not sure if it is. And they serve it with plenty of fries that I shared. They also have another location on Harlem Ave that I haven’t tried yet, but willing to now that I know!

Food is good but the girls working the counter have attitude problems. They need to be working a another job, not fit for customer service representation of a business. They don’t care about customer concerns or even if they drive customers away with their rude public displays and poor service attitude. What shame, this place use to be pretty good but it’s going downhill due to some ignorant girls working the counter.

First time visit right at opening time may have led to a bit greasy gyro. Friendly counter guy… fries a touch underdone. I liked it enough to try one more time but not right when they open up.

My #1 gyros. Huge, crispy meat and lots of sauce. Would love to explore the menu but can’t resist the gyros. Quick service, great value.

Would I pull up to The Lucky Dog for lunch? Ugh, no. But, in the responsible, residential, family-and-job focused outskirts of Chicago where everything closes at a seemingly respectable hour on Sunday nights, this is my new go-to place to satiate my late night craving for a fatty snack. For less than $ 3 you get your fully loaded(albeit weak looking wiener) hot dog with crinkle fries via drive-thru. Fast, cheap and yummy in a pinch. I’m ready for my next late night craving so I can branch out on their menu.

I have been here two times, and the first time I tried getting a tamale and cheese sticks. The tamale left much to be desired as it came from a microwavable package and was kind of soggy, and the fried mozzarella sticks were good — but hey, who’s gonna mess up cheese sticks, right? In any case, came back a second time and got the cheesy Italian beef. One of the best things I have had since being in the Chicago area. I have tried a few from other places, but theirs is amazing! Very heavy on the cheese and flavor, extra dipped in the beef juices. Just awesome! It is now my go to place when I want an Italian beef with extra cheesy goodness lol. Get the cheesy beef if you are stopping by — you won’t be disappointed!

This place gives your food to you, how THEY want. Regardless on how you order it. I stop in there on my way home from the dentist, to get soft food to eat, after my dental work. I have paid the 4 bucks for a cup of soup, with just soup base, no «filler» I ask for a gravy bread, super juicy, it was dry inside, then the manager said he made it himself and in not so many words called me a LIAR. I will also look into reporting them to the US bureau of labor, since I bet few working there, have green cards

The food is great and the staff are friendly. I recommend the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad and ask for the Soup of the day.

You can get a dog and a generous amount of fries here for $ 2.35. That’s right. You really can’t beat that with a stick. And they have a drive through. What more do you need to know? There really needs to be a Lucky Dog downtown with a drive through. They’d be printing money if that were the case. Portillo’s — eat your heart out.
