A Total Tan

The reason that I go to Total Tan is cost. It is significantly cheaper than other chain tanning salons. I am not a frequent tanner, so the monthly memberships that other tanning salons offer isn’t for me. Total tan offers packages for a certain number of tans at a reasonable price. The package I bought this year was $ 60 for 20 tans, which will allow me to tan for the rest of the year. Also, their tans never expire, unlike other chains. Literally the girl at the desk told me that they can be used «Forever.»
Now, there are reasons Total Tan is cheaper. Their beds are older and don’t feel as «hot» (meaning you won’t tan as fast). The controls for the fans are often on the outside of the bed, so you can’t change them once you are in there. Also, the on switch is on the wall instead of on the inside of the bed, which causes you to make a mad dash for the bed to not lose time. Also, instead of a switch on the wall where you can choose from several commercial free music channels while tanning, they have 1990s style boomboxes. I can’t remember the last time I had to manually scroll through a tuner.
But it you are a cost conscious tanner, definitely tan here!

Occasionally in vain pursuit of having a darker skin tone, I find myself in a place like this. While I have a skin tone that can be likened to that of Cool Whip (say it like Stewie does), spray tan enables me to temporarily tan like those people that bake under the skin cancer causing UV lights. Oh, but a little research goes a long way, and unfortunately, spray tan doesn’t have a stellar record nor approval from the FDA. See
Oh well, I guess ya only live once right, might as well go out with a tan.
Ok. So the lowdown: No appointment needed. Great open late hours M-​Th. The workers were friendly to me and answered all my questions over the phone and in person. This place also had the cheapest one time spray tan price in the area $ 20.
A small gripe was that there was no mirror in the Mystic Tan room, but not a big deal.
The parking lot is rather steep, so if you are one of «those people» in the winter, be careful and watch your step as you walk in/​out.

This salon is just ok. The beds are not very good as they are older and only have 2 levels and a standup. The only reason I go here is the good prices of $ 5 tans and that their lotions are dirt cheap in comparison to other salons. But the consultants don’t know much about their beds, you are not catered to like at other places. You are expected to do trial and error of what works best for you. They aren’t the friendliest of people either, just the hi/you’ll be in bed #_​_​/​bye sort. So if you are looking for something cheap where you don’t have to enter into a contract to get a good price then this is your place but for the avid and passionate tanner, you will not be leveling to your expectations.
