I had dinner here on a recent business trip and I cant wait to go back. The food was so delicious that I had. I had the dal makhani and malai kofta, Also, the garlic naan was fresh and good. Service was good too. The place was quiet so perhaps things are different if its busy. I also had a real nice bottle of red wine here. Wish they had their wine list on their web site as I would love to get the details for it. Going back to Cincinnati in a week or two and this will be on my list to go to first night.

It gets the job done. For an Indian, I found the buffet selection very bland and boring. For the average American, the buffet might be good. But for 11 dollars I wish there was more selection than something i could easily cook at home. Nothing exciting to eat. For 6 dollars at Shanghai Mamas, you get a hell of a lot more food. And it tastes good too. Very very good.

I went with a group of about 10 people. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. NONE of us were disappointed with our food. Very good! The chicken tikka masala was amazing! I’ll definitely be returning.

I just had my second meal from here and it was very enjoyable. Perfect after a long day of travel and all you want is comfort food. Speedy and polite service.

Had a team dinner tonight. Giving them props for excellent service and good tasting food — chicken tikka masala was very good. Team enjoyed it. Not crowded so plenty of room and not noisy at all. Will be back.

Great service and delicious food. No problem using our Groupon for dinner. Vegetarian appetizer plate was crispy and came with three different sauces. Two vegetarian main dishes were ordered at the 2(Regular) spice level, which was perfect for two of us and could have been spicier for the third person. Really enjoyed our meal there.

tl;dr — Honestly, just go for the lunch buffet or takeover and avoid Groupon entirely. I work downtown and tried Akash on the recommendation of a coworker who frequents. I was planning on trying it for a while when a Groupon popped up – perfect, right? Briefly: the chicken tikka masala was pretty good, and I’ll probably go back for the lunch buffet. But the owner was sketchy about the Groupon, and charged us more because we paid with one.(It actually would have been cumulatively cheaper to just pay normal lunch price and not buy the Groupon at all.) — Server: «Even though it’s lunchtime, you can’t order off the lunch menu with a Groupon. You have to order off the dinner menu instead.» — Me: «Look, that’s not what the Groupon says(Just ‘Not valid for buffet’).» — Server: «I know, but the owner just doesn’t like people getting a discount on lunch.» — Me: … The common entrees were ~$ 8 on the lunch menu and ~$ 12 – 13 on the dinner menu, but they served the same lunch size portion. That’s a crummy way to do business. At least 4 others have pointed out, the owner changing the terms of the Groupon *after purchase*. I think this should be brought to attention. I filed a complaint with Groupon: «Hi, The business forced me to order off a different menu than everyone else because I had a Groupon. I had to pay about 40% more because of this to the point that the groupon actually caused me to spend more money. Really disappointed that this happened.» I encourage you to do the same if the owner refuses to honor the terms stated on the Groupon. Update: Groupon agreed and gave a refund.

I am not an expert on Indian food, but I do love it. This restaurant was wonderful. The setting is spacious and well decorated, and the staff very attentive. I ordered the Akash dinner special on the silver plate. Wow! Value for price was excellent. No way I could eat it all but I sure tried — it was absolutely delicious.

For being the only Indian spot in downtown, I wasn’t disappointed. Akash is in a nondescript building and is only distinguished by a small maroon awning. The woods are blacked out so you’re only able to really see out from the inside. Nevertheless, Akash gets a huge lunch crowd and at $ 11 for a lunch buffet with plenty of Indian goodies including my favorite tandoori chicken and saag paneers — this will definitely be getting a repeat visit.

Exactly what I love about Indian. Everything was exactly as delicious as expected. We had the Lamb Saag, Lamb Rogan Josh, Mixed Platter, Chicken Tikka, and several Naan. It was not the best Indian but it was very good and for the convenience we will definitely be stopping by again.

Average indian food in downtown cincinnati. I recently ate here as part of a wedding weekend. The dinner was buffet style which is always a negative in my mind because quantity does not equal quality. It was above average for buffet food but 3 stars overall. The food was not spicy enough for my taste but then again, I have a very high chili tolerance and many there could not tolerate kick in their food.

I’ve long been a patron of Akash, mainly because they are the only choice for Indian cuisine downtown. I went for lunch today, and while the food was good, I was treated very poorly by some of the staff. When using my groupon, the man who took my bill seemed annoyed I had one. He billed me too much and didn’t use the full amount of my voucher. When I questioned him on this and the«dine in tax» he’d mentioned, he rolled his eyes and spoke to me very condescendingly. It turned out he was in the wrong but I didn’t receive and apology from him. First off, don’t offer groupons if you’re going to be snarky about it. Second, when I’m at a place to spend money, whether it’s a groupon or not, I want to be treated with decency and respect. That did NOT happen today. I’m very disappointed in Akash and will not be going back anytime soon. Save yourself the money and frustration.

I ate dinner here for the first time last night because I bought the Groupon, and I must say that I was very pleased with the food! The spice level was on point, service was fast, and the flavor was awesome. We will definitely be back!

Akash is one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to. Delicately flavored dishes, friendly staff. When ordering, you are asked the level spicy(1 through 6) Try the vegetarian Tali!

Great find in downtown Cin City! The Groupon doesn’t work for the buffet, but that’s ok because the menu is varied and full of wonderful choices. Their fried breads are also fantastic, go for the one with the homemade cheese inside. Why only four stars? Their bathroom looks like a set from one of the«Saw» movies. I would have taken a picture but I was too scared. Seriously. Hold it or risk a public urination ticket first before you darken that doorway!

I really hate giving this place 3 stars because the food was incredible. I’ve been here before and loved it every single time. So, I bought a groupon. And I came in here during lunch. I asked for a menu because I assumed the groupon was only for menu items. This is where it went downhill. I came in dressed as I usually do. Black hoodie and jeans. I have purple hair. There’s your backstory. Anyways, the manager walks up to me as I’m seated with my friend(also wearing a hoodie and jeans) looking at the menus. The restaurant is packed at lunchtime with business people on their breaks. So, he comes up to me and says, you have a coupon? I said, yeah I have a groupon. He said, Groupon is only good for menu items. Not buffet. Great. Thanks for profiling me as someone who has a coupon. Thanks for clarifying that I can only order menu items. As I obviously already had the menu in my hand. He took one look at me and assumed I was cheap. Oh, don’t worry. I tipped 25% anyways after I payed with a $ 50 bill from my coach purse. The only reason why this upset me so much is because I’m sure he didn’t ask any of the other people in the restaurant if they had a «coupon». The people at the tables surrounding heard and stared for a minute. Thanks for embarrassing me during my dining experience. I’m well aware I didn’t put my makeup on this morning. Of course, the food was fantastic. It always is.

Reasonably priced for the location. I had the lamb rogan josh. It was very tasty and the portion size was just enough to fill me up but not leave me wishing that I didn’t finish it. Needless to say I did not reach diminishing marginal returns during my dining experience. The service was sufficient. The server kept my water filled and did not attempt to sell me add-ons, which I appreciate. The only minor downside was the décor seemed a bit dated but the taste and value are more important to me. I would have given 41⁄3 stars if fractional scoring were permissible.

Such great authentic Indian food and well priced! Chicken tikka masala and lamb vindaloo are awesome with a mango lassi on the side! — Good serving size(I had leftovers) — Quick Service — Authentic(I say this since I am Indian!) — Spicy! — The dinner combo looks good — Not very crowded and the restaurant is a good location

There are no two ways about it: Akash just isn’t quite as good as it used to be. It’s been trending in that direction for a couple of years now, and I don’t see any evidence of a turn-around. Compared to a few years back, the food on the buffet just doesn’t seem as fresh. It’s gotten quite salty, and the flavors have gotten a bit muddier. Even the appearance of the food has gotten kind of monochromatic: Almost all of the dishes on the buffet are the same shade of dull brown. The food here also seems to get heavier and heavier. This is not to say that Akash is bad. Akash still provides a good bargain for a lunchtime Indian binge, and it retains the advantage of being the only downtown Indian restaurant(that I know of) and a nice alternative from the many interchangeable sandwich shops. I also consider it a plus that Akash seems to offer a few more veggie dishes than some of the other Indian buffets around town. Lunch buffet price is now $ 10, which is on the higher end for Cincinnati, but it’s almost certainly attributable to higher downtown rents.
