I think this place is now closed for good as the last time I went there was a sign on the door indicating they were suddenly closed for that day. I called a couple of times since and the number was disconnected. Website is still up though. Sadly — it had declined in the past year or so. I was sad to see that happen and not sure why it did. It just did. Oh well — looks like there’s a lot more up and coming Indian restaurants in Greater Cinci. Brij Mohan down the street is pretty good.

We went on Sunday at peak dinner time and there was literally not one customer. That and the outside was already turning us off. But we decided to try it anyway. We walked in and it was very dark. I had to use the restroom, and walked into the ladies to see two toilets in the bathroom with no stalls or any type of separation. The bathroom was disgusting, and were completely put off by the place so we just left without eating. If you are looking for a nice, clean well lit place this is not it. Too bad, I had a good coupon I was going to use.

Sad that this used to be considered one of the most authentic Indian restaurants in town. We would not have gone except we had a DealChicken credit. When we went last night the place was empty but for one other person. Big glaring yellow signs filled the windows to advertise their buffet specials, which should have been our clue. The buffet was skimpy, with two soups, about 4 – 5 standard entrees, and a pan of rice that needed refilling. Plenty of delicious naan, which saved the day. No dessert other than watermelon. While we ate a moth fluttered on the window sill next to us, and we pondered whether the dirty water glasses would actually make us regret drinking from them. Overall, the food was not bad, but the depressing atmosphere made us want to clear out as soon as possible. Lesson learned.

I went to Anand for a lunch buffet shortly after Thanksgiving to continue my quest of reviewing every Indian restaurant in Cincinnati. In many ways Anand is like your typical Indian restaurant. The buffet lunch is OK, but nothing special. The inside of the facility is not well lit, but not too bad either. However the lunch buffet price is very good($ 7 I believe) and the menu prices are good as well. Anand is also very unique as well. It’s the only Indian restaurant in Cincinnati that has free wireless and a drive through pick up window. Considering the other Indian food options in the area(Azad, New Krishna, etc), Anand wouldn’t be my top choice. Watchout: Anand is closed on Monday’s for dinner.
