I have worked in the Springdale area for four years, and currently live in Mt Lookout. I always have problems with finding cute cafes in this area where I can grab a breakfast quiche or coffee. I love having those options closer to the city, but work is here and sometimes I just want to treat myself in the morning. Bluebird Restaurant is that cute place located in the most quaint village of Glendale. Seriously, if you have never driven though then you need to. They have decadent older, and well-kept homes in this area, and Bluebird is situated in their square. This is not just some strip-mall square, it is an adorable, villagey square with several shops, some park benches, and lots of pretty flowers. It reminds me of a little chunk of downtown Oxford, OH. Bluebird has plenty of pastries, cakes, and cookies, but you can go there in the morning to grab a quiche and coffee. They are also a WONDERFUL spot for lunch, with homemade sandwiches and soups for a quick bite. They have outdoor seating(all casual and seat yourself), which is ideal on a lovely day on your lunch break to enjoy the sunshine, and forget it’s a Tuesday. I went there this morning to grab a coffee. While they are not a coffee shop serving up lattes and cappuccinos, the cashier was more than happy to make me a double shot espresso with a splash of milk. The fact that this guy did this for me was so kind, considering it isn’t on their menu, and he only charged me $ 2 for it. This place is a go-to if you want to stop in for a coffee and bite, and forget it’s the workweek. You might just be surprised at this wonderful area of Glendale as well. Keep up the good work!

My family and I stopped by here on a Saturday morning to check this place out. It is located on the town square in historic Glendale. I have been to this area many times before but never knew this place was there. Bluebird offers all the favorites you would expect from a bakery including scones, cookies, cakes, and pies. They also have a lunch menu that has soups and salads, plus a breakfast menu offering quiche, scones, coffee, and a breakfast sandwich. We tried two kinds of quiche and a breakfast sandwich and enjoyed all three of them. They were served up hot and fresh by a friendly staff. The only drawback I saw about this place is the dining room. There are many tables inside so it is kind of cramped and it feels like you are sitting on top of each other when the place is crowded. Overall we enjoyed our trip here and will return in the spring when the outdoor seating is open.

Bluebird Bakery is an Underdog of Dining in Cincinnati because they produce an outstanding product that very, very folks know about, probably because they are so very hard to find. If you haven’t been there, get there soon — they need(and deserve) your business. When you look up the term«hidden gem» in your reference source of choice, there should be a reference to the Bluebird Bakery. Never in Cincinnati have I found an eatery that so closely met the definition of this phrase. Anyone who has driven on Sharon Road near the Grand Finale has probably driven by this place dozens of times without knowing, and they are missing out on quite a treat I’ve only been here in the evening(they dont close til 8!) when their stock for the day has been picked over and relatively little is left, and despite that, I can say without question that two of the finest desserts I have eaten in Cincinnati were eaten here — their blackberry pie and their triple berry pie I am not sure I can adequately describe either. Both have the best, flakiest crust I have ever experienced, and the filling is sensational, particularly in the triple berry. The Triple Berry is actually a quadruple berry pie — blueberry, blackberry, raspberry, and strawberry — and in each bite a different berry seems to take over as the star of the show. Just fantastic. I’ve also tried the chocolate cream pie, and it was outstanding, though not quite at the level of the other two. I think most Cincinnatians expect a bakery to have doughnuts. These, they do not have. Instead, satisfy your breakfast needs with one of their assortment of excellent scones. They also have tortes, cookies, brownies, lemon and key lime bars, danish(always gone when I get there) and muffins If you don’t want to travel all the way down to O’Bryonville(and then fight to find parking) to get gelato at Madisonos — get it here. They have it ready to dip over at the counter farthest to the left as you enter. Plenty of free parking in the area, and service is as friendly and accomodating as can be. Décor is charming, like something out of a Norman Rockwell painting, and there is plenty of seating both indoor and out to enjoy a coffee and a slice of pie, or(at lunchtime) one of their soups, sandwiches, or quiches. Very Strongly recommended

Hidden away in the streets of Glendale, this little place brings some charm to the area and happiness to the locals. While I was not super impress with the cake that I had, mostly because it was very dried, the hot chocolate was really good. I also like the space, is just a nice location to meet with a friend for a coffee. I will give it another try for lunch, as I’ve heard is good. For now is just okay.

Love this place! Egg salad on greens and their soup are my faves. One problem, they stopped taking credit cards! Only debit. I don’t go nearly as often now

I met a friend here for a business breakfast on Friday and it was the best. I had coffee and a breakfast sandwich(whole wheat, bacon & egg with cheese) which was simple and good, really hit the spot. My colleague had three different kinds of pastries(hungry guy) and was considering one more flavor! They are all good, but the scones are perfection! Lunch is good too. I’ve had the quiche and fruit and the Asian noodle salad is always a winner. They have Blue Plate specials and regular items. Everything is made fresh here and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. There’s a kids table with toys and also a «community» table for anyone who wants to join the discussion group that seems to congregate in the morning. Order at the counter and they bring your food to your table, self serve coffee and cold drinks. The bakery is right there and they make your food in plain sight, very clean and homey, it’s like you’re watching Mom make your lunch at the kitchen counter! Get a cookie or a Blondie to go when you leave. Pies and cakes are made to order and have won awards every year around the holidays.(You can definitely pass them off as homemade, since they are). This is a place where all the locals come to eat and visit, but you won’t feel like an outsider for a minute. Try it once, you’ll be a regular, too!

Adorable neighborhood bakery in Glendale. I don’t get out to this part of town much, but I was in the area and needed to grab a bite with a friend. I got the spinach and bacon quiche, which was pretty good. I also got a lemon bar, which was good, though not as sour as I usually like them. Only complaint is that the brewed coffee was tasting a little less than fresh, but it was still drinkable. My friend got a peppermint hot chocolate which got an A+ for presentation — topped with whipped cream, drizzled with chocolate syrup and sprinkled with broken candy canes.

Cutest little spot by the railroad tracks! The staff was pleasant and suggested I try the Pecan Sticky Bun. It was absolutely delish! The atmosphere is quaint and cozy. Going to have to bring a friend for a quiet cup of coffee and conversation some Saturday morning.

I’ve been here twice now, and each time has been great. I love the atmosphere and the fact that I’m supporting local business. Their coffee is great, as is their food. The only thing is this is a strict breakfast/lunch type place, so the hours are a little odd. But if your in the area The Blue Bird should really be on your list of places to try.

Pecan sticky bun was the winner of the morning, just the right amount of sugary glaze with a still soft pastry. The strawberry danish was also fresh and delicious, although it seemed like they used the canned strawberry pie filling in it. The breakfast sandwich on a biscuit was okay but nothing special — the biscuit was a bit too dry and crumbly for my liking. They didn’t have espresso but had two kinds of caffeinated coffee that was actually pretty good. Overall, very good food at fair prices. Extremely friendly staff and a very comfortable setting. Absolutely worth the trip.

I’ve been going to Bluebird since it first opened as a bakery only. Their danish and scones are amazing and Jenny has made a fantastic fruit tart as a special request with advance notice. You will love the historic woodwork inside of the café and the cute little bluebird motif in the café. With a homey atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food, you will want to return again and again.

Great lil bakery tucked away in historic Glendale! We recently spent a getaway weekend in Glendale and went in to Bluebird Bakery for breakfast that Saturday morning. The women working that morning were very friendly and helpful. We struck up a conversation with them right away that more or less continued throughout our time there. They recommended different quiche and pastries, and told us about local festivals and markets they like. I’d call the prices moderate. Not cheap but not out of control, though I don’t like paying for every refill of coffee — just charge me an extra $ 0.50 up front. We ate well — everything was tasty. The day-old scones, muffins, etc is the way to go. They’re closed on Sundays(I agree with other reviewers that the hours here are lacking) so we went in Saturday afternoon to scavenge what was left to take back to our room for Sunday morning. We made out like bandits and enjoyed a variety of delicious homemade baked goods the next morning. We’d go back.

A surprise of a bakery in an unassuming village square in Glendale. Super cute. Coffee not so bad. I’ve also eaten their day-old scones, which were tasty(and half-price). Seems like a great place for a coffee and dessert or a light lunch. Deducting one star because their hours are waaay short, though I’m not surprised given the area, which is kind of dead.

Quaint, charming little place. You’ll hardly ever find a person under the age of 60 in here, so that can tell you a lot. Twinkle lights, modest tables and chairs, pour-your-own coffee, and helpful service. Because there was no key lime pie, we opted for the key lime bar, which apparently is NOT the same thing. Although the crust of the bar was divine, the lime portion of the pastry was a bit too sweet/sugary. It tastes like the Jello gellatin sugar. Yeah… But still, I’d finish eating it just because the crust is so good. I got the chocolate dipped macaroon. It’s not your typical macaroon, and I thought it was amazing. So there’s my recommendation. We heard UK folks thought the scones here were lovely, so we took some to-go. Cream cheese and cranberry/orange. Both were good(can’t say I can differentiate good scones from the bad), but the cream cheese was a pleasant surprise. Check the hours before you go, but definitely a nice place to chit-chat over coffee and baked goods.

Neeeext. DO: –Key lime pie –Chocolate dipped macaroon DON’T: –Skip the buckeye(chocolate dipped peanut butter ball) PARKING: –Parking lot This review is purely based on the few dessert items I have tried: key lime pie, chocolate dipped macaroon, the buckeye, and the blondie brownie. The buckeye and the blondie brownie were forgettable, neeeeext. The key lime pie was absolutely amazing. It was creamy, with a perfect balance of sweet and tart. The chocolate dipped macaroon was surprisingly delicious, not too sweet with a pleasant chewiness factor. I believe everything was priced at $ 2 – 4. The key lime pie alone took the rating from 3 stars to 4!

3.5 stars, really. After seeing a long line at the brunch place we had planned to go to, my boyfriend and I headed north, figuring we could always pop into Cracker Barrel if needed. Instead, as we were driving through Glendale, we remembered Bluebird Bakery. We had never been, but we had seen it before. On a whim, we decided to try it out. Good decision. Bluebird Bakery has a very sweet, homegrown feel. By the time we got there(around noon on a Saturday) many of their breakfast and brunch items had sold out, but we did manage to snag two slices of quiche, which were delicious. The bacon was a bit fatty, but tasty. The piecrust was incredible. So yeah, a limited menu can work when everything tastes so good. Add to that: reasonable prices, friendly service, homey atmosphere. Lots of parking in the adjoining lots. And free Wi-Fi. We will definitely be adding Bluebird Bakery to our catalog of brunch options.

Went up here with my family to get some pizzas from FireSide Pizza since they are located in Bluebird Bakery. While waiting for our pizzas we ordered a key lime bar and a fruit cake. The bakery items were delicious as the key lime bar had great flavor, but just a bit to much powered sugar as when I took a bite out of the bar, the sugar ended up on my jeans. The lady that was working behind the counter was friendly.
