I had one of the best almond milk lattes of my life here. And my sister had the best dirty chai. The inside is decorated perfect. I have yet to try any food here, but judging from looks, it probably tastes great!

This place deserves every killer review it has gotten. Deeper Roots is, by far, my favorite coffee shop in Cincinnati. It is the perfect place to pop in during the week with your laptop to get a little work accomplished with a delicious latte or nitro and a piece of cinnamon bread for a sweet treat. Every employee is incredibly knowledgable about their craft and about their coffee. Allison, one of the baristas, is by far my favorite Deeper Roots employee — if she’s working during your visit, you’re sure to have an amazing drink! My favorite menu item currently is the honey bear, made with cinnamon and honey, latte: the most perfect warming treat for these cold winter days.

I really liked Deeper Roots Coffee. I came in here on a cold, rainy day before shopping in Oakley and it was exactly what I needed. When you walk in, this place is so cute! It is definitely work-friendly so if you have a group meeting or if you want to get some work done during the day, this is a place I would check out. The tables are pretty big and even though it’s a small coffee shop it didn’t seem that busy. I really like all of the plants inside and the Edison bulbs(I have a fascination with Edison bulbs for some reason). The people that work here are extremely friendly. I was worried they would be coffee snobs because Deeper Roots is known for being coffee connoisseurs, but they were very helpful and nice! I ordered a honey bear latte with almond milk, which was not served as hot as I’m used to… I think this is because they didn’t want to burn the almond milk, so next time I order a latte I will get it with regular milk. It was very tasty, and they put a foam flower on top which is a nice touch. My husband got a Guatemalan coffee blend to go in his coffee mug that he brought with him(they will fill up your cup if you bring it!). His coffee was very very good, and honestly I think I liked it more than he did… He still prefers Coffee Emporium coffee. Overall, a really nice coffee shop, and probably the only one that could tempt me away from Coffee Emporium. I’m a fan!

I recently started drinking coffee and I have decided to try different coffee spots. This was my first place to go, and I am very pleased. There is a lot on this road but I found a meter right in front of it. I walked in and instantly was greeted. She was very helpful and explained all the drinks for me. Answered any questions. I ended up just getting a vanilla latte and everyone tastes coffee differently and I’m still new so I was not totally sold but it wasn’t bad. I had my friend meet up with me and she ended up getting the honey and cinnamon latte but she had it iced. I think it would have been wonderful warm so I must go back! It’s quiet and the tables have enough working space.

I’m a sucker for a local coffee shop, and Deeper Roots is a welcomed addition to Oakley Square. For starters, it’s perfectly located within walking distance of everything Oakley has to offer, and there’s even a private parking lot! The interior is small and cozy with a simple and rustic design. I could totally see myself spending a morning here catching up on emails and Unilocaling about my next favorite spot. :) I walked in on a cold morning after a run and proudly exclaimed to the very friendly cashier: «I’ve never been here before!» and she was quick to run through their entire menu and list of coffees while I watched the barista next to her, mesmerized by his meticulous attention to detail of his french press(although, the process they mentioned was called something different). She told me they don’t have any artificial flavorings, so all their fancy lattes are made with natural ingredients. My go-to is usually a vanilla latte, and I’m not a coffee snob by any means, but I overheard the man ahead of me order his Guatemalan brew and proclaim how fantastic it was, so I took his word for it. Alas, it was incredibly rich and smooth and exactly what I’d expect from a local shop. Deeper Roots definitely knows their coffee and are true artists in their craft. I can hardly wait to go back and try out more of their delicious offerings.

Fantastic coffee and service. To be completely honest I also own a coffee business and this is one of my «to go» places when I’m not at my shop. Great job Deeper Roots!

The fate of the fifth star is hanging in the balance. I sip my Ethiopia Amaro Gayo pour-over and try to determine whether it is good enough or not. Sadly I think it falls a bit short of the mark. It’s a bit too dark maybe. Not bad but not that pleasing. Oh well. Deeper Roots is the best coffee roaster in Cinci. There’s no doubt about that. I’ve been a fan of them for some time. And now finally I make it to their new café. I was expecting the café to be nothing short of incredible. Was it? Yes it was a positive delight, but it left me feeling just a bit disappointed. Not because it was bad but because it wasn’t more awesome than any other usual third waver. Maybe it was because I had just been to the epic, hip, new m5 Espresso Lab five minutes earlier. But I probably had too high of expectations. The café is fairly cool, fairly typical. The La Marzocca is fairly cool, fairly typical. Baristas were fairly cool, fairly typical, fairly reserved. Generally I give five stars to places that I don’t find any major fault with. At Deeper Roots there may be a slight lack of the Wow Factor but I still would have given them five stars if I had liked the coffee a little better. I’m still a fan of these guys and I’m proud to have a good roaster in Cincinnati. I’ll come back whenever I get the chance.

I go here for straight up cup of good joe… because they make an amazing one(although their specialty list sounds pretty legit too). Great space design with a few high top tables and smaller tables in the back area. Nice for reading/working or meeting up with friends and family. I typically stop on Sundays to catch up on reading and although its busy, its not over crowded or so loud you can’t relax and enjoy. Great addition to the community!

Just re read my first review and holy cow, I needed to update. No worries, Deeper Roots is still 5-star(6-star???) worthy, but now that I stop here at least once a week, I felt as if I needed a longer explanation. I have had almost every type of coffee drink on the menu – latte, cappuccino, espresso, espresso macchiato, pour over, Nitro(!!!), and just black coffee. Everything – and I mean everything, every time – has been outstanding. Every barista is extremely friendly and helpful. The service is prompt. These are just some of the infinite reasons I continue and will continue to come back!

Yum. A coffee shop for coffee lovers. Everything we tried was a flavor explosion. This was a great stop for us tourists from Omaha.

NITROCOFFEE. That’s really all you need to know! Plus it’s also in a great location, so take some time to explore Oakley Square!

Deeper Roots has a straightforward mission and pulls it off exceptionally: a great cup of coffee. You won’t find the elaborate drinks here that are popular at many coffee shops and tend to incorporate flavors, toppings, syrups, yada yada, that ultimately drown out the role of the java in the drink. To the contrary, your will find brewing options(e.g. pour-over) to prepare their featured, home-roasted coffees. There are also snacks, such as pastries imported from the wonderful Freida’s, and toast(via Sixteen Bricks) with nice options for toppings. The décor is also really tasteful — warm environment, free parking, and free wifi.

I live just down the street so I attend regularly. That being said, I have merely two suggestions! 1) Please offer small/medium/large size beverages. Your ‘one size’ is not nearly big enough for those that need a big caffeine dose in the morning. 2) Perhaps consider extending your hours? A 4PM close time is kind of a bummer! If you were open until even 6PM, I would stop in for an after-work beverage, as many people enjoy getting coffee later in the evening. Other than that, the coffee is top notch(although a bit expensive) and the people are friendly!

I’ve never been more excited to give a place 5 stars! Nestled right next to the Blue Manatee in Oakley Square, Deeper Roots Coffee was as close to perfection as coffee can get. The staff was friendly and the seating was ample. The atmosphere was calm and there was wifi and electrical outlets for you worker bee types. I know I have some work to get done this week and instead of my standard Starbucks«camp-outs» or sitting in my home office, I’ll be coming here one day this week! I ordered a cappuccino and it was so wonderful I’m sure my father(who I went with) was annoyed I kept talking about it! It’s rare these days that you actually have someone make you espresso the way espresso was supposed to be enjoyed. Well, they do it here! It was fruity and you could really get a sense of all the unique flavors of the bean, opposed to the overwhelming bitterness that can often come from a poorly made shot of espresso. The espresso was so delicious and flavorful I really should have just ordered a couple shots of it and called it a day. This place is so traditional — if you dine in, the barista gives you seltzer water to enjoy with your espresso. I’ve been served this way before at a coffee shop in Illinois and I can say it makes the experience really fantastic! Their menu of food is small but mighty; everything sounds incredibly tasty. I haven’t tried any of their toasts but am excited to sample the one with strawberries and ricotta cheese – it sounds like the perfect afternoon snack! I was also informed about their nitro-iced coffee which sounds really cool as well. While exploring the place today, I noticed there was a connecting door to the book store so if they leave that open during hours both business are open, that would be super cool too. I’m so pumped to return to this place again and again! Way to go Deeper Roots for doing coffee right.

Great little coffeeshop. I much prefer local places like this to chains like Starbucks. The coffee here is to notch, no sugar or cream needed, unless you’re into that. We stopped in on a Sunday morning and they had quite a lot of foot traffic. e Got their coffee of the day which was excellent. I also ordered their toast with almond butter and honey which was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the almond croissant which I sampled. Surprise, surprise it was also delicious! I didn’t get the vibe that they made the pastries, but wherever they get them from does a good job. Plenty of seating, good vibe, outlets for phone/laptop charging, customer service was prompt and courteous.

Delicious coffee with a great mission. Everything about this place is fantastic. Nestled right next to the Blue Manatee in Oakley Square, the location couldn’t be more perfect. I’ve had mostly lattes and boy were they delicious. But recently I tried the nitro coffee via suggestion from the barista. It’s nothing I’ve ever tasted before, and in the best way possible. Nitro iced coffee comes straight from the tap, like a Guinness. It’s infused with nitrogen, pretty trippy right? On a hot day it was the perfect companion. For taste it’s crisper, slightly sweeter and creamier than just your regular iced coffee, even when consumed black. If you’re looking for a something new to try I’d definitely recommend it. Cheers!

Go as often as I can for the coffee.(3 – 5 times a month) Today, we tried the toast, thick and delicious. I highly recommend it. We got the sourdough and 11-grain. One had strawberry and ricotta and the other had almond butter and honey. Almost as good as Abigail St honey and ricotta, but well worth it.

Welcome addition to the Oakley neighborhood. I first tried Deeper Roots Coffee where I work, where they provide our monthly coffee delivery and we recently had a morning event where I needed 5 gallons for this event. The team was extremely friendly, had the coffee ready when I arrived, placed in my car & provided towels so the coffee container wouldn’t leak in my car. Thanks Deeper Roots team!

This is a fantastic coffee shop and great addition to Oakley. Deeper Roots kept it simple by not offering too many options. The standard coffee options such as ready-to-go coffee, pour over, and espresso drinks(cappuccino, latte, etc.) are all available. The offering that I am very happy to see so close to home is the cold nitro coffee on tap. I drank a glass of it the other day and it was delicious; it’s the perfect warm weather coffee. They also have a few specialty drinks and some tea offerings. There are bags of coffee beans for sale if you want to make some coffee for yourself at home. There is also a small refrigerator case with some bottled beverages. The food options are also few but delicious. The best part is the simple sounding but absolutely delicious toast and jam. When I stopped in there were two options for bread, whole grain sourdough or eleven grain, and two options for spreads, lemon rosemary pink peppercorn marmalade or strawberry ginger balsamic jam. There was also fresh ricotta to spread between the bread and jam. The concept might sound simple but really good fresh bread combined with some of the most flavorful marmalade I have ever tried is a winning combination. Croissants and cookies are also available. The front space of the café is open and bright with lots of light. There are high-top tables providing enough seating for a decent number of people. There is also a small space towards the back that has a few small tables and some chairs and benches. There was also a bench on the sidewalk out front. Service has been very friendly and made me feel welcome. I will definitely return for coffee beans, cold nitro coffee, and some delicious toast and jam.

Great new addition to Oakley! The space is cute, employees are skilled, and the coffee is visually and automatically appealing. No soy milk but they do have almond milk. Tasty latte. They close early — 4pm — hopefully they will consider longer hours to make this more of an afternoon hangout. It’s a great fit in the neighborhood!
