Dena’s Diner

Tonight was around maybe the tenth time we have gone here since finding the place. We have never once come away disappointed. Usually I have one of the gourmet burgers, but this time I opted to try the Ultimate Double Decker sandwich. I may have found a new favorite thing! Though I may not always have the room in my stomach for it…
They have maybe 18 different types of specialty burgers, and it is fun to try something different every time we go. Each time has been good. The fries have always been cooked properly (crispy on the outside without being overcooked) and the broccoli slaw that comes with the platter is something you can’t get in a lot of places. The service has been good pretty much every time, although I prefer to go to places during less busy times.
If you are looking for a nice, small neighborhood place with great burgers, this is a place in town that you will have to get to and try one of these days. I highly recommend it.

The food was good, very good. However when did charging $ 2.50 for white bread for a sandwich become common practice? Is there an upcharge to having white over wheat? It made me feel like they started adding arbitrary charges to makeup for the Unilocal deal I used which was a $ 10 voucher (purchased for $ 5). Then when the bill came they only took $ 5 off instead of the $ 10, which is an easy fix but coupled with the random charges it makes you wonder… Would I return? Possibly… The food WAS good.

On the hunt for Cincinnati’s best food at reasonable prices we hit Dena’s on a third attempt. Once we came just as the kitchen was closing and once they were closed.
We were greeted warmly and told to sit anywhere. I got a Coke and brother got a bottle of hard root beer and ice water. He brought the Coke and root beer but had to be reminded to get the water.
Brother got a Chef salad for an appetizer while I got the deep fried Reuben wraps which I loved except that they were dripping oil so I got my shirt dirty. We each got a burger with fries and broccoli slaw. I got the Speciality Salad and our server had no problem changing the dressing for me and adding hard boiling egg to my salad.
I got the Bourbon Bacon Swiss Burger. I asked for Medium Rare and it was very close to that. My burger was very good. A nice mix of a good burger with a hint of sweetness from the onions. The fries were good but our ketchup was nearly empty and we needed more. The broccoli slaw was okay but needed a pinch of salt after which it was very good.
Brother got a Morning burger. He didn’t consider it very good. He considered the fries just okay. He had the chef salad which he felt was very good.
Dessert of the day was mixed berry pie made that morning which I declined.
Overall I enjoyed dinner and would go back again. Minuses are the Keno which I have a problem with. Another server got a group of about six and I eavesdropping heard him criticising the fountain drinks and failing miserably when asked about the most popular burgers. Server needs to be retrained. Last problem is that breakfast service ends at 2pm. If you call yourself a diner there should be all day breakfast.

This place is so comfy and the waitstaff are usually very friendly. I come here pretty often and only had one bad lunch experience… which boiled down to the bartender and server chatting at the end of the bar while i stared them down to try and get a refill (and no, i’m not one of these customers that sucks drinks down, it was my first refill). She never even asked how my food was.
aside from that day– it has always been good– comfort food… good burgers… good brunch. reasonably priced, and a few beers on draft. Great local place and I hope it stays for a long time.

Great happy hour spot! Love the patio in the summer time. Great food and great staff! Haven’t had a thing on the menu that hasn’t tasted great! Pricing is reasonable.

This was by Walmart on Colerain ave but moved to a bigger location which was great for them. They are known for their burgers but their breakfasts are just as good. Since the new location we’ve been there several times and plan to go back more to try other items on their menu. Their staff was friendly and they help each other with drinks so my glass was never empty.
