Graeter’s Ice Cream

Excellent location, friendly staff (especially Kamal), and ice cream is super rich and creamy. A bit pricy, but get the double in a cup for a hefty portion (and you an get a to-​go lid if needed). Or, get a mini cone for just the right amount of ice cream!!!

Late night ice cream cravings? This one is right next to the UC campus and is also conveniently located near my place. Whenever I get my ice cream cravings or one of my GFs gets it we will do random trips here. It’s in a cute neighborhood too, Gaslight District. My favorite flavor so far is the the Buckeye. So good!

Yesterday, I went to Graeter’s with my mom and gramma so I could get my birthday sundae — something I look forward to all year long! If you’re part of their rewards program, you get a free sundae the week of your birthday! I now live in St. Louis, but I made the trip to Cincinnati for a week of celebrations and you bet Graeter’s had to be included! I miss having them nearby! Their ice cream is delicious and the chocolate chips are more like chocolate chunks (I’ve found some the size of my palm). So it’s not surprising that my favorite flavors all have chocolate chips — Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip, Coconut Chocolate Chip, Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip, Black Cherry Chocolate Chip, Toffee Chocolate Chip, Mocha Chocolate Chip. That’s what awesome about Graeter’s — it’s not a place where I get stuck getting the same flavor every time. There are so many great ones that I can switch it up every time! They also have some fantastic seasonal flavors — currently they have the cinnamon (which is one of my favorites because it takes like a snickerdoodle cookie) and pumpkin!
There are Graeter’s all over the city. So no matter what part of town you’re in, you can always find one near by. Thank goodness!

Ice cream! What else can i say. Very good and tasty. Always busy at this location. I have always thought that the price is quite high for 2 scoops.

While we were visiting from out of town, our friends said we had to have Graeter’s ice cream because it is one of the best. It really is. I did a bowl of the mint chocolate chip. It was delicious and had a perfect creamy texture with the right amount of big chocolate chips (more like chunks).
I definitely want to come back and try their black raspberry chocolate chip. It was just featured on Food Network as one of the top ice creams in the country.

Omg! Love, love, love this place… Super close to my house… Staff are friendly… Price is reasonable… They have a bakery and candy shop at this place too!!! Must go!

I’m not sure what it is about this branch but I never enjoy it. I went here recently with a friend. It was a Friday, early evening, and the place was nearly empty. (One other party of 2 was there.) My friend didn’t know what she wanted so she took extra time checking out the menu and trying 2 flavors. The staff member helping us was not friendly and seemed almost annoyed. She never offered suggestions and just stared at us.
I ended up getting the low gylcemic mint chocolate chip. My biggest complaint about Graeter’s in general is it’s too heavy and sugary. This option was a great choice for me! Tasted great and light. Thankfully I don’t have a nut allergy because somehow mine ended up with a chunk of walnut (?) right in the middle. The staff must not have really cleaned up the scoop well enough I guess.
Also the place had a serious mildew smell. I could hardly stand by the counter and could even smell it while sitting inside. I would have gone out if it wasn’t raining at the time. The sponge that they use to smack off the water from the scoops did not look good. It just did not seem sanitary.
I would have given a 1 star if not for the ice cream. I’ll keep to generally avoiding this branch in the future.

My sister suggested I visit here while visiting her. Great call! My wife and I shared their bourbon sunday thinking it would be a great local tasted of Southwest Ohio and were not disappointed. The staff was extremely friendly and treated this outsider like a local regular.
The sundae was great with the taste of bourbon mixed with the deep flavorful chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream that was soft and tasted like it just came out of the mixing bowl.
On a side note, with the donuts being sold there too, I am surprised no one came up with a dish that would be something like a donut shortcake ice cream sundae contraption.
I recommend Graeters to all who can hear this one!

We were visiting from out of town and our friend said we absolutely had to try Graeter’s. Apparently everyone else had the same idea. it was after 9pm and the line was to the door. We didn’t have to wait more than 10 minutes though, but the line grew and wrapped around the store behind us.
Our friend was right though– the ice cream was delicious! I shared a with my husband– we got a double cup with toffee chip and peanut butter chip. I preferred the toffee chip to the peanut butter.
–1 star for the service and the odd taste of the gelato I tried. I asked if I could sample the hazelnut gelato and frankly I thought it was nasty. It had a very weird aftertaste. I asked if I could try the peanut butter chip and got such a nasty look that I hesitated to try a different one. We guessed with the toffee (didn’t sample it), and I ended up loving it more than the peanut butter. Our one cup with 2 scoops ended up being just over $ 4 (a little pricey but it was good). It really was delicious– I was only going to have a couple bites but ended up eating half of the cup we shared.

Since moving to Cincinnati, no other ice cream can compare. Family friendly atmosphere and great service make this ice cream to die for!

Oprah, you got it right! This place blew it out of the park with its ice cream. I got the blackberry chocolate chip ice cream. The large chocolate chunks didn’t bother me at all as it had to other Unilocalers. I found the chunks not to be hard, but very soft. It’s sad that this place is only found in Cincinnati, but I will definitely be making an order from this place in the near future!

I’m from out of town, and my Cinncy friends wanted to ensure I try their local ice cream. We went to this location after dinner.
Prompt service, lots of interesting flavors. Overall, this is a fantastic ice cream — thick and creamy. Lots of seating and the restaurant was clean.
I had the peanut butter & chocolate, double chocolate, and cookies and cream ice creams. I liked the cookies and cream the most, but probably because it was the least sweet.

Friendly staff and great ice cream as always! Parking can be somewhat difficult depending on the time of day though.

What a wonderful ice cream parlor! I have always been a big fan of the ice cream at graeters, but this location is one of the best places to enjoy it. Located in the beautiful gas light district on Ludlow, grab your cone, sundae or pastry and take a walk around the beautiful neighborhood, or make your way across the street to by he Clifton plaza where on Friday and Saturdays you are likely to find live music playing. Parking is located on the street, or in the business district lot, located on Howell behind Clifton plaza. You can also take the new Cindy red bike and park it in Howell as well and walk up the steps!
Overall this graeters will not disappoint.

IF you have never been to Greaters, GO!!! Whats stopping you?! If its Oprahs favorite thing, you at least have to see what all the fuss is about!
This is my favorite location for Graters! The store is on the corner of Ludlow and Telford, and is also on the 17 and 19 bus stop! When you walk inside, there is an entire retail/​bakery section where you can get fresh baked goods, chocolates and even some souvenirs to send to others who are missing out. I especially love the eat in at the several tables they have set up, which always have flowers or something in the center just to jazz it up. I also love how much detail the servers put into making somethign as simple as a sundae. No joke, last night I ordered a sundae with raspberry toppings, whipped-​cream, nutts and a cherry and this man looked like he was painting a Picaso. Even the people behind us said how it looked jsut like the picture on the wall (which by the way, if you have not seen, they have giant framed photos of their ice cream all over which is awesome and kind of over the top/​hilarious all in one).
Check it out, especially at this location! There is always a line which tells me people keep coming back for more!

Graeter’s definitely has the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted.
The Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip is amazing.
So is the Black Cherry Chocolate chip.

This particular evening at this particular location, I opted for a bowl of Black Cherry. A «traditional» bowl costs a little under $ 4 and gets you a large scoop of delicious ice cream. I thought it was a bit pricy at first, but after devouring it, soooo worth it.
The only thing I don’t like about their ice cream are the giant chocolate chips inside. I’m not a huge fan of chocolate and having to crunch giant chips is a bit annoying. Fortunately, there was only one monster-​sized chocolate chip in the cup so I didn’t waste too much.
As for this location, I wanted to linger a bit more but my husband was eager to get our ice cream and head out the door to the plaza across the street. I didn’t really get to explore but I did spot a little bakery area with cookies, homemade candies, treats, and gifts in additon to the ice cream counter. A few vintage-​y tables are available for a place to sit down. Overall, pretty cute place.
Can’t wait to get my hands on some more Graeters again!

I would give it a five star rating — however — i will wait for the Blueberry pie ice cream that they make in August. :(
Had the Peach and it is pretty good. Lots of chunks of fresh peaches incorporated.

When I eat out with my family, we will usually go to this Graeter’s afterwards. It’s always a good time sitting on the stools overlooking all of Ludlow’s hipsters walking the streets or just watching people inside drip ice cream all over themselves.
The ice cream is really good. I usually get the black raspberry but the last two times I tried the new salted caramel and the peanut butter. The salted caramel was very good but the peanut butter was amazing. As usual, it came with huge chunks of goodness in the ice cream which is usually the site of disaster for me. I always try and dig the pieces out and in turn I’ll drip ice cream on myself. I know its going to happen, but my inner child doesn’t listen. Oh well, that’s what a washing machine is for.
Check Graeter’s out if you’re in the area, you won’t be disappointed.

So I know this is basically blasphemy here in Cincinnati, and I’m going get doused in hatorade for saying it, but I think Graeter’s is just what the 3 Unilocal star rating says: A-​OK. It’s not the best I’ve ever had (by a long shot), but it’s ice cream that tastes like what your grandma would have made for you on a hot summer day (if my grandma could make ice cream…). It’s rich and creamy, which is what you want in ice cream. My only qualm is that the fruit flavors taste so artificial. Is it so awful slash difficult to have strawberry that actually tastes like strawberries?
The best part about Graeter’s is the chocolate chip part. Haha, they should just call it _(insert flavor here)__ Ginormous Block of Chocolate. Doesn’t quite have the same ring to it though. But unearthing the whole block is probably my favorite Graeter’s pasttime. I think I need new hobbies.
Do I like anything there? Actually, there are a couple of flavors that I look for when I’m at Mejier, shopping the ice cream aisle which I will buy if they’re on sale. Cookies n’ Cream, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and Buckeye Blitz. They’re always winners in my book.

I don’t know why but I feel like this is my favorite location. There is just something nostalgic about going on a date to the Esquire and then getting a scoop of ice cream after.
Like many others have said Graeter’s is the Cincinnati ice cream. It’s been around forever. I am not a huge fan of chocolate and almost every ice cream here has gigantic hunks of real chocolate in it. So if you are a chocolate lover this is your heaven. The ice cream flavors themselves are pretty classic. I usually just go for cookies and cream, but everyone seems to swoon over Black Raspberry Chip. If you haven’t had it before I would suggest getting a taste.
They also offer tons of home made chocolate candies, gifts, and bakery items. The tables and chairs take you back to a simpler time. Everything about this location screams 50’s ice cream parlor and I love it. A great date night spot for sure!
