I had the opportunity to dine here as part of a wedding rehearsal dinner. The upstairs is a nice, cozy space that easily accommodated our group of 20+ without too much shoulder rubbing. I ordered the bourbon glazed salmon with fresh vegetables with slight hesitation, but my diet the days prior necessitated in something on the healthy side. When the waitress brought the entrees, I was presented with a large piece of salmon on top of perfectly cooked rice and firm, but flavorful vegetables — the gamble paid off! I also had an opportunity to sample the pot roast and chicken fajitas which were both outstanding! With plenty of family in the area, I’ll certainly be back!

I’ve been here twice now, and have left disappointed both times. It’s not that the food is bad, it that the service is slow and inaccurate. It took about 10 minutes for our server to come by to get our drink order and another 10 minutes for us to get our drinks. I asked the server for a water 4 times throughout my meal and she finally brought it to me when she was bringing our to-go box to us. However, I will say that the food is pretty good quality, I especially loved the crab cake appetizer„ but I do think it is overpriced. They also have a really good selection of bottled beer. I just can’t get over the incredibly poor service at this place. If I am spending almost $ 100 on dinner for 2 I expect quality service to go along with it.

Since it was my birthday on 11/21, the parental units treated me to a meal(how nice!), and I chose this place after passing it countless times on Route 125. For the most part everything was great. The portions of food were extremely generous and tasty and our waitress was extremely attentive, but at times a but overzealous to fill our drinks — which included her spilling a small amount of liquid each time on the refill from the pitcher. It may be me nitpicking, but having to clean up after her spills wasn’t my idea of fun. I’d give this a recommendation for visiting in the afternoon if you have the chance and in the area. It is a bit pricey, but the portion serving offsets that.

So a couple of guys from my crew and I came here after working a Friday night football game. I had visited the Great Scott diner awhile back and did not have a very good experience. Now perhaps this Great Scott has absolutely nothing to do with that Great Scott… but I would not be surprised in the least if they were. Walking across the parking lot, I was feeling a bit hopeful. Live music could be heard from outside and I love me some live music. However I got outvoted and we ended up eating inside. Walking through the doors the place appeared a little less casual that I had anticipated. But we were dressed nicely enough that it didn’t feel awkward. The second thing I noticed was how relatively empty the place looked. Granted it was close to 10:00 p.m., but it was a Friday, so I would have expected more people. Given how empty the place was I would think the hostess would have met us and taken us to our table faster than she did. But we stood there for a good two to three minutes before anyone approached us, during which time the bartender made eye-contact with me and instead of calling out to somebody to seat us, he turned and continued his conversation with one of the customers at the bar. When we were finally met by a hostess we asked if the kitchen was still open. She gave us one of those«Hmmph!» sighs that suggested she was not particularly happy we were there. She glanced at her watch and said we had just made it in time. She was even so kind as to mention that we had eight minutes… almost as if she were hinting that it might be better for us to leave and go eat someplace else. Which is what we probably should have done. After getting to our table, a glance at the menu revealed that this place had a high opinion of its food, given the prices that were listed. Much more expensive that we had anticipated. So much so that one of our guys decided to leave. Our waiter was polite enough, but it felt he was giving us minimal effort. It seemed he was more focused on preparing for the restaurant closing for the night as he did not make much of an effort to check in on us very often but rather did all of his end-of-shift duties. So after placing our orders we waited… and waited… and waited… and waited. A couple that came in a few minutes after us got their food before we did. And the thing was, they ordered an entire meal, whereas I was the only one who ordered food and it was just a pound of chicken wings. Everybody else just ordered drinks of an alcoholic nature. So a long wait to get seated. Followed by less-than-stellar service. Followed by an even longer wait for my food. All of which are bad enough. But what really made this a horrible experience was when the food arrived. The flavor of the wings were overpowered by the taste of burnt meat. And as I dug into the middle of the wings, the meat on the inside was all discolored. And this usually means the chicken has been undercooked. So burnt on the outside and raw on the inside. In other words the food was horrible. High prices, subpar service, long waits and crap food. Not a good combination. Now I have read some of the other reviews and they appear fairly positive. So maybe Great Scott was just having a bad night. However I will never know, as I have absolutely no intention of ever coming back. Mahalo, and avoid.

Quaint little lunch spot in the area of my customers. Menu way too big and kind of confusing. Combo: coconut shrimp, oriental chicken skewers and egg rolls $ 14.99 and under it wings by the piece and pound. Otherwise the waitress was lovely, the place is eccentric with oil cloths on the table. It was quiet, but this is Batavia OH so I can’t really judge by this area at all. I’m glad I only drafted this review because now I will add a star. I had the blackened salmon wrap with spicy sauce. Except they were so accommodating, they make everything right there on the spot– I didn’t have it blackened and they substituted the spicy mayo with low fat ranch. It really was yum with actual fresh cooked salmon. I peeked into the kitchen at one point and saw a couple actually doing the cooking, totally fresh… So if you are out there in Batavia OH, hungry and tired that place doesn’t disappoint!

Beth and I were going to visit Linda and Rick out in Amelia to pick up some furniture. After loading up the truck, Rick suggested that we head on over to Great Scott for dinner. We walked into what looked like a big house. Outside seating area looked nice, but it was to cold for that. They seated us upstairs in these big booths. Im a large man, and rick is even bigger, so when i say we had lots of space, you know how large these booths had to be! Beer on tap choices were small, they just changed the taps the day before so our waiter didn’t know what was available. I had a Bells Porter, Linda had a diet coke with a whole lime(she is definitely a person who knows what she wants, lol) Rick had a bud light. Our drinks were served promptly and yes, Linda got her whole lime. For an appetizer Linda said that we had to get the onion rings. When it showed up, i couldn’t believe how large it was. We just got 8 rings, but they were like half onions sizes. The seasoning on it was nice, but could of had more spice. For dinner i had chicken nachos half order, beth has a salmon wrap, linda had the chicken fajatias, and rick got the steak quesidalla. When i walked in those nacho’s looked delicious. When my plate arrived, it was less then desirable. Really just phoned in and not alot of cheese at all. Beth’s wrap was ok, the salmon was super greasy. I didn’t try any of Linda’s fajitas, but i did have a bite of rick’s quesadilla which was super delicious. The parking was in a lot in the back. This place is kinda out of the way, but i will give it a second try when I’m out that way again

This restaurant is out there. I mean, you aren’t going to drive out to Amelia from downtown or Clifton or Mariemont or wherever just to go here, but if you are around the area, it’s a pretty decent choice. I spent years going to some terrible restaurant that was blue and I think was called Abbott’s or Abner’s or something whenever we visited my grandma. I hated it will all my might. Then this place opened and life got a little better. The restaurant is right next to a used car dealership and where a putt putt course used to be if I remember correctly(I could very well be wrong) but basically the exterior looks like a big white house. You enter though the back. The restaurant is fine looking — but always FREEZING cold. Oh it’s so cold in here. The real amazing thing here is the cinnamon chips they bring you. Normal restaurants bring you bread, they bring these delicious cinnamon ordeals to your table. I come for that. They are delicious and free. Yum. My main choice was the fruit and chicken salad — the fruit was always good and the chicken was okay for chicken — it was decent quality, just kind of bland. I often picked around it. Mostly my memories of this place involve my grandma stealing fries off my husband’s plate and my mom yelling at her. It’s just a funny memory, and it unfortunately, overrides a lot of the food ones. They carry BonBonerie desserts. I ordered the crème brûlée once, which they didn’t bother to heat up, so I just ate a cold(but tasty) crème brûlée. Overall, if you are in this area, this is one of the better choices, but don’t bother to drive out of your way for it.

We had a surprise birthday party to attend in Amelia this past Saturday night. While spending the better half of the afternoon in a pool, my brother helped to research restaurants in the area for us to try. Eventually we stumbled on Great Scott! My mother overheard this conversation and recommended giving the restaurant a shot before heading to the party. She said that she has been a couple of times before and enjoyed it. With that recommendation my brother’s girlfriend called to make a reservation for 5:45. We were told a reservation wasn’t necessary at that time, but went ahead and gave our name anyway. After-all we had a time constraint for the evening. My wife, son, brother, his girlfriend, and I all arrived shortly after our reservation time and found a table waiting with menus and silverware already in place. This was a nice touch. We all commented that the restaurant was much different from we had expected, most agreeing that we thought it was going to be a British style pub for some reason, must be the name. There was a large back deck that I couldn’t see much of from the entrance. The inside had low tables with cheap tablecloths and a bit of tacky furnishings. We also had an air conditioning vent pumping chilly air on our legs, but other than that it was comfortable and we were happy to be in a cool room. The beer list was really good, though mostly in bottles. They do have a couple of taps dedicated to craft beer, but I stuck to the extensive bottle list on this visit. Similarly the food menu was pretty large and took some time to go through. We all skipped over the salads, though in hindsight that could be one of the better sections on the menu. We saw some of the entrée salads come out of the kitchen and they were very large, filled with quality ingredients and interesting toppings(such as egg rolls). We all ended up selecting items from the sandwich section of the menu. I went with the pulled pork BBQ sandwich with the optional Habanero BBQ sauce and onion rings. My wife ordered hot ham and bier cheese on a pretzel roll with french fries. Like we often do we decided to split the two sandwiches. I started with the pulled pork and overall was pretty pleased with the sandwich. I could tell that the pork was prepared and pulled in-house, though it may have been cooked awhile before being served. Some sections were a little tough, but mostly it was tender and the BBQ sauce was great. Unfortunately the onion rings did not go over as well. I liked the thick cut onion but the batter was much too thick and bland. I think it’s the same batter used on the fried fish. The hot ham and bier cheese was also a pretty good sandwich. One quick complaint was the amount of bier cheese they put on it which was way too much and made it really messy to eat. By the time I started to eat my half of the sandwich, the extra cheese on the plate had begun to solidify. That wasn’t the worst problem though. The cheese that had seeped under the roll and made it impossible to eat the sandwich without getting the partially solidified cheese all over my fingers was the major issue I had. The pretzel roll did stand up well and didn’t get soggy, which was good. The fries were better than the onion rings, and cooked to the ideal crispness. I won’t go out of my way to try Great Scott! again. However if you find yourself out in Amelia and hungry, it isnt’ a bad choice, especially in an area that seems to have few options.

I’ve been eating here since it opened. It’s a place that has a great lunch and dinner selection. I also love their beer and wine selections. It’s a great place for a first date too! They offer a wide variety of options so everyone is a happy camper. If you’re looking for great entertainment they have live music on Thurs and I think on some Friday nights. Some of my favorites are the Crab Cake apps, the steak salad and they have great burgers.

Great Scott was such a pleasant surprise! I don’t get to see my friend Carrie L. as much as I’d like, so when I find myself on the east side for any reason, I make sure to make time for it. Carrie L. and I had been hanging out on a previous occasion when I noticed the Great Scott menu hanging on her fridge. After skimming through we decided my next east visit would consist of us lunching it at Great Scott. So, we did! Both of us being on a budget, we were a little worried about keeping our Great Scott promise. The prices seemed a bit steep. The cheapest salad was 10.99! But, I am so glad we followed through. Carrie L. ordered a burger and I ordered a bowl of their chili, both with a side of slaw. We were told it was homemade and very good. They were not lieing. The bowl of chili was a perfect portion and at such a reasonable price. It had a little kick to it, but just enough. The service was wonderful. She was very busy, but handled it well and was very attentive. Our glasses were constantly being refilled and when she saw I was out of crackers, I got a refill on those too. When I go back… and I will go back, I plan on getting one of those delicious looking salads. The ladies next to us had ordered them and they were HUGE! You could even share! I’m looking forward to being a repeat customer!

The hubs and I have been here twice — both times for a small work party. Everyone ordered off the menu and all I can say is, I’m glad I wasn’t spending my own money. The restaurant itself is nice enough but the food is terrible! We’re vegetarians and I realize I’m asking for a lot going out to E Ohio PIke looking for vegetarian fare. But seriously, how can you screw up pasta? That was the salty mcsaltiest pasta I’ve ever had in my life. We’re talking salt lick salty people. We weren’t asking for much, just some relatively decent, edible fettucini alfredo. Apparently, that is too much to ask for. Maybe the meattastic dishes here are better. I realize its slim pickin’s out in these parts but I’d happily go down the road to Royal Taj any time before I’d come back here. Yikes!

We ate at Great Scott on Saturday, 10⁄16. It was an off hour, 4 pm. This restaurant has a large, diverse menu. They currently have an Octoberfest menu as well. The were 3 couples I would figure as regulars sitting in the bar, drinking and chatting. As far I could see, we were the only people eating at that time. We took our time and studied the menu. My hubby ordered the strip steak, smothered in cheese and served on mashed potatoes with the veg of the day. I ordered a cup of blackbean soup and the chef salad. Everything arrived at once. I thought my soup might arrive first, but I was wrong. And I didn’t ask for it to be served first, my mistake. The aformentioned soup was room temp at best. My husband ordered his steak, medium rare. You know it won’t be piping hot when ordered this way, but it was sliced up and spread over the cold mashed potatoes making it all rather bleh. He just ate it and I sent my soup back. It returned a little warmer. Not much. My chef salad was fab. Good salad mix, great ham and turkey. Wonderful cheese. Great dressing. We couldn’t figure out why the food that was supposed to be served hot couldn’t be when we seemed to be the only people in the place actually eating. Perhaps when the joint is jumping, the food is hot. There are too many other places to go, so we won’t return.

I’ve been to Great Scott a number of times, but have yet to go to their new diner futher into Amelia. It is nice to go during dinner and buy a cheaper ticket for the movie theater just down the street. The food is always good, the service too… but it can be a bit noisy. but that is just neighborly fun, right?

OK there desserts are shitty brought in crap… but there walleye is to die for… and the portion is ridiculous … Beer battered and then dredged in panky to make it extra crunchy … its fantastic and not over burdened by the crust good tarter sauce pretty good fries … Cole slaw could be better … there soup of the day was interesting twist on chowder … jalapeño corn chowder and had some kind of of aioli drizzled on top much better than expected … and there deep fried pickles are the best I’ve ever had… utilizing the same beer batter excluding the panky and a portion again that will make you want to starve yourself for week after all … but I don’t know if that is a concern with the general population today … this is a fantastic alternative to any of the normal chain restaurants and mostly looks like one with its own identity … they even had a vegan option and some really great looking salads … so avoid the dessert case and go for the appetizers. so for the rating imp going to give 4 stars because everything work well except the dessert

Great Scott is the first place to stay in this location for a considerable amount of time. It’s one of the few restaurants on the far east side of town that has a really good, more upscale menu. There are a lot of items to choose from, and that can be a little intimidating at times. Fortunately everything I’ve had has been really great. Their salads are incredible, and the dressings are all hand made in the restaurant. There are seasonal specials that are really good, and the regular menu filled with newer and traditional American food makes for a great meal.

I love Great Scott and have been going there since it opened. It’s easy for us to be regulars since we live nearby and this is always an easy pick for large parties on birthdays, holidays and other special occasions. Laura and Scott, the owners, are hospitable and always make it easy for us to arrange things whenever we have an event. The food is great and the regular staff is awesome. We were so impressed with our normal experiences there, we chose it for a casual rehearsal dinner. Of course, we had great service and the owners even gave us a gift :-).
