Happy’s Pizza

NOT SO HAPPY — I have placed my last delivery order with this HappyPizza on Daly Road in College Hill! When the food is just average, the customer service needs to be exceptional and this guy (manager/​owner) isn’t just rude, he’s confrontational and borderline disrespectful. He should get out of his own way before he drives away his clientele.
I just placed an order for 4 different entrees and Sal actually called me back to verbally chastise me for asking that I get white meat instead of dark on one of the orders. He claimed they had already dropped two dark pieces, which is highly doubtful given I had literally placed the order only 2 mins prior AND he’d given an ETA of 45−60minutes for delivery when I’m only 5 blocks away!)
He was seriously combative, as if he was trying to get me to accept the dark meat. He must have heard in my voice, when I asked to understand if he was telling me I had to take the dark meat, that I was about to say «just cancel the whole order» because he somewhat but still rudely changed his tune be saying «its just gonna take longer, so don’t get mad at me when its late». Really dude?
I predict we wont be there many more years (just like the previous Hook’s Fish) if he continues to conduct business that way. I even told the delivery driver to relay the message that I’ve placed my last order because of him and he «understood where I was coming from». Sal must be a real prick to work for too.

Have ordered a couple more time since first review. Subs are tasty, but need a little more meat. ribs are ok. Banana pudding is pricey but ok if you are craving banana pudding. LOL. Still love the convenience of delivery and the variety.

Ordered 2 Large Specialty Pizzas for 20 bucks (Coupon). Delivery was fast, food was hot and fresh. This being the opening weekend for the place, it really surprised me. We will order from here again. Only issue was placing the order, the staff didn’t quite have down how to take the order quickly and efficiently. She seemed a little lost and had a hard time hearing us. We had to call back to give her our credit card because she hung up before asking how to pay for it.

I thought Happy’s was a cheesy name for a pizza place so I did not check them out thinking the pizza would be sub par. It was not bad at all and they are pretty generous with their toppings. I personally think they are better than Jets. My favorite pizza is the Everything pizza (I replaced the mushrooms for coin sausage) Chicken wings are OK. The manager does come off a bit short but when I saw him on an early morning news show interacting with the anchor person I realized it is just his personality. I would recommend you try them. I order all the time there and can always find something I like.

The food is fine. Had a four piece chicken dinner for $ 9. Chicken has gotten pricey over the last decade. The chicken was good. Fries were so-​so. Hot sauce tastes like hot sauce from anywhere. Haven’t tried to pizza or the fish yet, which seems to be their other mainstays.
Caution: you will wait at least ten minutes for your order, so this is by no means fast food. There is only a bench for seating and no tables, so you won’t be dining in either. This is a carryout only kind of place. I suggest calling your order ahead of arrival.
I don’t understand why this place has the security measures of a bank. The teller could hardly understand my transaction from behind the plexi-​glass wall you encounter when you enter the cookery. Is the chicken gilt in 14 karats?
Any security the plex provides is compromised by the giant holes in it adjacent to the cash register, which apparently exist merely for breathing because they aren’t used for cash or food. Anyway, the whole setup is a little weird and nonsensical and makes me feel like the neighborhood is less safe than it really is.

I’m impressed great food and prices I will visit often. Good to have something different in Cincinnati.
