Try the liver! I know it sounds weird thats what I ordered considering they’re know for their burgers but when I see liver on a menu I can’t help but order it.

The French fries here were the best I’ve ever had. The wine selections are great too. Sit on the patio for the view and try the Temprenillo!

Very disappointing experience. My wife and I made reservations and arrived to be greeted by the manager. We weren’t offered coat check, which wasn’t alarming at first. However, every patron after we arrived were given the opportunity to check their coats. We waited five minutes to be served water and another 30 minutes before we could order food. Unlike the table seated after us, we were not provided the specials. The drinks were fine, and the entrees were mixed. The waygu was nicely cooked; however my wife’s duck confit tasted like it had been reheated. The waiter was very eager, but he also seemed very stretch with the amount of tables he was covering.

I came here last month and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The food wasn’t quite memorable in my opinion, but I’m willing to try this place again. This place is quite easy to find, but you do have to know about it being there to truly find it. Parking is underneath the building. Décor is really nice. It wasn’t too expensive and very close to where I live. I came here on a Tuesday or Wednesday night last month and only one other table was there. I think I would enjoy it more if there were more patrons. The views were lovely!

You won’t get much better when it comes to food quality than here. True French cuisine! The service was excellent but when the restaurant started to get busy one could tell the staff felt the stress so it lacked the laid back vibe with positive energy I was seeking on a Friday evening.

Let me start by say saying that you can make this exact meal for two at your house for less than $ 10& in fact I did all through college. That being said I had a great meal at Le Bar a Boeuf. I had a bison Boeuf with anchovy butter & blue cheese served with French fries and a cup of French Onion Soup. The French onion soup was, it had two pieces of soup logged bread submerged in it covered with a thick coating of cheese. The bison was cooked medium which was delightful, but a warning to future diners it seemed that they tend to cook on the rare side so you might want to order a level higher than you normally would. The bison was smothered in a rich melted blue cheese with two anchovies floating happily on top. All of this was nestled in a bead of crispy French fries. This place has a beautiful view & has a formal yet relaxed atmosphere that is great for any occasion. Give it a shot of you are in the mood for something different you won’t be disappointed.

Atmosphere is nice. Ordered the crab cake appetizer, way too much dressing on the coleslaw. Had the trout for my entrée. The vegetables were so greasy way too much butter and olive oil. Could not eat them. Will not return to this restaurant.

Had a great experience here tonight. Simply sat at the bar with a friend. Funny, after other bar patrons left, I said, «that dude behind you is a guy on the news.» He said, «the guy behind you is the City Planner.» That’s kinda funny. Anyhoo, service at the bar was absolutely fine. The suggestions I took from the bartender were spectacular. I ordered my Boeuf«medium» because most places over cook beef. It came out Medium Rare(which is what I really wanted anyway)! The protein was perfect, the Boursin cheese was caramelized, and the Forestiere(red wine/mushroom reduction) sauce was added, BOOM. Awesome. Get the Boursin. I’ve seen reviews all over the place, but I can say that this was one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Talked with the staff, had good food.

We had a truly epic meal here recently. From the service, the recommendations, the quality of the food/drink…perfection. We will definitely be keeping this place as a favorite for any occasion where an overall A+ experience is what you crave. Thanks!

Went up for a date night with my boyfriend, and boy was I glad! Even though it was a Saturday night, it wasn’t busy(was also 9 or so) and it was a beautiful night to be able to sit out on the patio. We ordered the meat and cheese plate and also the french dip beef tongue. The meat and cheese plate is fantastic, the selections were diverse but complimented each other well. The beef tongue was… decadent. It wasn’t chewy at all, it was prepared wonderfully. Be prepared it’s a heavier dish but oh so good. We both ordered burgers, I picked out the wagyu with onions, tomato, and truffle butter. I was happy I put the tomato on it to blend and break up the lush flavors. The truffle butter was fantastic, I love love love truffles, and it is a hefty chunk of butter. My boyfriend ordered the bison with wine sauce, an egg, and I don’t remember the other topping. He also ordered the mash potatoes instead of the fries. I would recommend the frites over the mash. I also preferred my burger to his lol. They had a diverse selection of desserts as well, but we were so stuff from our meal we couldn’t fit in another round of food. P. S. The burgers don’t come with a bun. They don’t need one.

Love Jean Robert. The food here was good. Service nothing like JRT so just come in with lower expectations. Love the patio. Cocktails well done. Food was fine. Next time I would come with different expectations and then there would be no disappointment. Would like to try the ground meats — we had the Duck and the steak — steak was better than the duck.

This is a difficult review because I love Jean Robert and wanted to love the restaurant but it was difficult for me to get past the highly pretentious matre’d. We had a reservation and don’t mind a wait but after our table was ready it was the matre’d who had to seat us and we stood waiting while he was chatting it up and he was fully aware of our presence. The restaurant is European casual and the servers are terrific. We found you get what you pay for and the higher price steak is the way to go.

Had supper tonight for 375 for four people. Server was generally poor. He felt compelled to tell us that most are confused by the menu. It is very very simple. I suspect he was mostly confessed by his blond hair. The atmosphere was a bit off and the service well below average. The bartender did not know much about the aperitifs. I love Jrt. This is a far cry.

Ate here a week ago, and was uniformly unimpressed by the food and service. We had made reservations a month prior to the visit, and when we asked to be seated near the windows for the view, were haughtily rebuffed. Endive salad was tasteless and Wagyu burgers and au poivre sauce were unimpressive. The pot de crème was outstanding and since I’m a chocoholic, I’ll probably return just because of this. Frankly, lots of better choices, including many of the chain restaurants, that serve better food and provide better service.

Just as with Jean Robert’s Table, I can’t comprehend what the great fascination is with this place. Their«specialty» is boeuf, which in their interpretation comes out as ground meat. Honestly, I could make just as good ground meat from Kroger with the assistance of a George Foreman grill. You literally have to douse it with butter, sauce, and/or copious amounts of cheese to make it presentable. It didn’t help matters that my friend started getting sick to his stomach the second we left. The only highlight was the excellent wait staff. I went a few days after their official opening, and our waitress could not have been more friendly. If only as much attention was paid to the food as it was to hiring good employees. This place can be slightly tricky to find. It’s within the Edgecliff condos in East Walnut Hills. So if your GPS is guiding you there, look for the condos as your landmark. However, do yourself a favor and navigate yourself to a different restaurant. Your stomach will thank you.

I also struggled with writing this review because whatever strength there is in the quality of the food was overwhelmed by the terrible service. We ate,(I wish I could say dined), on a Friday night with 7:30 reservations. We were greeted by a hostess who could not find our reservation but with«some assistance» located it. We were seated at a nice table and ordered cocktails… which were excellent. The waitress kept asking us if we wanted to order and we let her know we wanted to relax and take our time. We were all very excited about dining here as we have loved all of Jean Robert’s restaurants. We ordered our appetizers and dinner. The appetizers came out. They too were excellent. The three of us has the salmon tartare, the crab cakes and the artichoke hearts. This, however, is where things went down hill. We were not finished with our appetizers when our main meal came out. We pointed this out to the«runner» and she said they would bring them back to warm. This was not ideal but there was nothing else to do. We literally rushed our appetizers and no sooner did the fork hit the plate and they were scooped up and our meals placed in front of us. Two of the three meals were tepid in temperature. We debated sending them back to «be warmed» but that would leave one person at our table to either wait for us and stare at their meal until it too was cold or eat in front of us(she had the lobster mac and cheese which is served in a crock with a lid explaining while her meal was not cold). We opted to keep our meals but the temperature greatly took away from the taste. Our waitress assured us they would«arrange something» to make up for being rushed and lukewarm meals. From this point on, our waitress went MIA. We did not return to the table until we flagged her down for dessert. When the bill came, no «arrangements» had been made and we let it go. Honestly, I was still angry about being rushed and being served«warmed over» meals. However, we asked if the bill could be split 2⁄3 rds, 1⁄3 and she said no problem. It apparently was a problem as it took three attempts to do it. I will try the restaurant again and have to attribute this poor experience to an inexperienced staff. However, I will not ever sit at the same waitress’s table!

Got a Tuesday 6pm reservation(open table rservations are available at 5:30,6, and 6:30, after tat call to be on waitlst– nice bar area to wait). We were welcomed and seated in the center of the restaurant. Already the place was buzzing and, yes, it did get loud but not too loud to talk or hear and one of us is older with a bit of hearing loss. Our excellent waiter, Rene, gave a good brief explanation of the menu and even told me when I ordered an ap that made for a large dinner with my main course. The cocktails were good and quite strong, the food was all excellent and the manager came over for a nice chat and agreed when we told him they needed a nice sorbet or something light on the dessert menu. What a comfortable place to be!!!

This place has been anticipated by the EWH neighborhood and the rest of the city for quite a while. Some hangups pushed their opening back but we finally got the chance to visit last night. They served — as expected of a Jean Robert place — exceptionally well done food. The décor is unique and fresh, something to look at on every wall and it has a sort of whimsical feel at times with the cow theme — but not over done. There is a garage outside or street parking nearby. Its in the first floor of the edge cliff and you enter down a long hall. We made a reservation(they only take them for early seatings) and arrived at 6pm to an already full restaurant and bar. The patio looked enticing on the sunny evening but it was still too chilly — we’ll be back for that. We were promptly seated. The details like butcher paper table covering and bone knife rests remind you that you are somewhere where they pay attention to everything. I was somewhat disappointed that we waited several minutes before a server finally came over. Being a new restaurant and reading some other reviews I understand a few service snags though. When he did arrive he was knowledgable and knew the menu backward and forward. However, he almost knew it too well and worked through his«intro speech» so fast I barely could keep up. He was friendly and helpful but the neighboring two servers I heard definitely spent more time going over flavors, cooking process and ingredient sourcing info which I enjoy at a nicer restaurant like this. We were checked on several times by the manager which I also appreciated. We started with the crab cakes. With a fun play on an onion ring on top — a fried scallion — and a delicious fresh vegetable slaw underneath they were excellent. Not huge but 2 nice size cakes with a good amount of crab meat. We both went with the beef patty as that is their specialty. It sounds unimpressive but it’s so well prepared yo really get to taste the beef. It was moist, perfectly cooked, light and tender not at all like a beef patty you typically see on a bun. We tried the bernaise and the peppercorn sauce and the roasted portabello and onion compote toppings. All well done and delicious, simple and elegant. The bernaise certainly had more flavor. TIP: they offer to pour the sauce over for you, which is a nice touch but he barely poured and on second thought I would’ve wanted all of the deliciousness so keep that in mind and watch the pour! Oh and get the fries. They are nothing terribly unique but they are very perfectly done and seasoned and if you’re going to get fries they should be crisp delicious and served with ketchup and spicy mayo as these were. We skipped dessert to head somewhere else but they had some nice offerings. Overall, great atmosphere it feels like a nice neighborhood restaurant with french flair. Reasonable enough(we spent $ 50 + tip) to go more than on special occasions and truly the best way to enjoy red meat — if like us you don’t do it often. This would have been 5 stars if the service was more perfected and it would’ve been 4.5 if they would allow it. Definitely worth a visit!

I really struggle with the rating and commentary on last night’s meal at Le Bar. The best way I can describe it today is «fine/fair» to «good». Unfortunately we were a bit disappointed from the minute we walked in. We had a 6:30 OpenTable reservation that we were about 10 minutes early for. The place wasn’t full by any means and there were plenty of open tables. We walked for about a half step and they sat us at the table basically right in front of the TV. In the bar. Now had we not made a reservation, or if we were rudely late, or if we weren’t OpenTable VIPs(come on people you have to know we review things and eat out A LOT) then maybe this wouldn’t have seemed like an issue. But seeing all of these other tables with more comfortable looking chairs in the Dining Room, this left a bad first impression. Moving on we are greeted by a very nice waitress. Unfortunately the cocktail I picked they are no longer serving because they couldn’t get it «right». Ok, so surely you have had plenty of trying things and even a soft open or two, so why is it still printed on your menu? Luckily she vouched for the runner up I had stored in my head. I ordered the Sacred Cow — this was very good, basically a smooth, balanced Manhattan and quite large for cocktail standards. While ordering the drinks we mentioned we knew we wanted to start with the Beef Tartare. Unfortunately she said she could not put this in until the rest of the order was ready. The Chef wants to know the whole order at once and the server will course it out. Now, that sounds nice and all. But if I am trying to order an add on(bigger bill people), then you should probably make it work. Let’s also remember that we are at the supposed more casual and approachable concept of the restaurants, not anywhere extremely fancy! We continue to work on the menu and what to order. We have a pretty long list and ask for the server’s help in narrowing to the proper amount to order. We order the beef tartare, the beef tongue french dip and then decide on two of the«plates». The beef to go with the standard and she thought the fish would be a good addition. Honestly, none of the entrees stood out to us and we were about to get one beef and one wagyu, but were basically told they are too similar. We were going to do a compare and contrast between the two. She asked if the chef’s recommended cooking was okay and we agreed. The great — beef tartare and beef tongue dip. Then the main dishes arrived. Just as you literally picture, a patty of meat next to potatoes(we had done one of each mashed/fries). The fish — fishy. The meat — fine but RARE. There was no medium rare about either of the patties. I like raw beef in my tartare, but not in something in a patty form with a tad too much gristle in it. Unfortunately we couldn’t finish either of these. Fries — I mean they are duck fat fries, pretty hard to go wrong there. The whipped potatoes — look and taste the same as any other thing whipped up. All in all, a bit hard to describe the overall experience. If we had been sat in the dining room and if our patties were cooked a little more I could give them two thumbs up. In the meantime, until an occasion arises, I will probably pass.
