Myra’s never disappoints me when I come here, no matter what I order. they have one of the biggest daily soup selections I’ve ever seen, and are all delicious! Their menu is very much on the lighter side, and even though they focus on Mediterranean cuisine, they also have a little middle-eastern and asian inspired dishes as well. There are quite a lot of items to choose from. sandwiches, salads, soups, pastas, wraps, baklava, and more. You also cannot go wrong with their desserts. the baklava and flan are delicious. The only downside is that it’s pretty tiny inside, but I think that is what gives it its charm and intimacy. If you’re looking to go on a cute lunch with a friend or date, this is a great place to visit.

Soup for you and you and you and you. /Oprah :) In the shadow of a campus nicknamed Under Construction for good reason, it is nice to find this long standing establishment. On my most recent visit I learned that the building is for sale as Myra is 80 or so and about ready to give up the reigns. God bless her, and I hope that this place continues to serve up excellent food for many years to come.(Hint: go asap just in case this place vanishes!!!) Great patio. A nice oasis for many a college student. There are no TV’s and the place is just as it was years and years ago. It’s comforting in the midst of our constantly changing world to have this place as a touchstone to a more simpler time. The food is very vegetarian friendly and after reading Elaine’s comment about dessert, I’ll have to return for that. Now stop reading this and go get you some!

My biggest regret was not going to Myra’s sooner. Holy cannoli this place has some serious mojo. Full disclosure: I love soup. I make an inordinate amount of soups. I longed for the day a local business specialized in soup. Then… TADA. Myra’s! But Myra’s is so much more. It’s a UC Campus staple, venerated by the locals. It’s a tea paradise for the pinky out-ers in all of us. It’s a smörgåsbord of vegetarian, Greek, and Mediterranean foods. And it proudly embraces all that is local in this world. You walk in and find a small but bustling community board, pictures dating back to Myra’s earlier days, and a pastry counter with fresh Greek pastries that entices you before even sitting down. I had myself a bowl of avgolemono, a lemony rice soup that I tried to replicate at home(close but no cigarillo). Soup nazi-sequel without a doubt. My boyfriend made equally good choices in the Thai pumpkin soup and creamy poblano soup. My Greek gyro was above average, but my heart belongs to the soup. See paragraph 2. I’m surprised Myra’s isn’t busier than it actually is. It’s pretty small and cozy – I would assume the dining room fills up fast. But on a Saturday night, there was a gentle flow of diners, nothing too crazy. Great spot for an intimate and affordable dinner. Try the avgolemono!

When I’ve searched for vegetarian-friendly places around Cincinnati, this place always seems to pop up. It was about time to give them a try. We arrived around 5PM on a Friday, and it was completely empty. We headed out back to the outside seating area — it did seem that service was slower sitting back here. They have a pretty extensive, diverse menu — so it actually took me a while to decide what I wanted to eat. We had a falafel appetizer to start with — it was a little smaller than I was expecting but tasty. I also tried the Watermelon Gazpacho, which had pretty sizable chunks of melon. It was okay, but I was running out of room for our actual entrees, which arrived pretty quickly. I almost think ½ cup sizes would be ideal — especially since they seem to specialize in their diverse soup offerings. I had the Baked Tofu over Brown Rice. This was a large, hearty entrée. My husband had the Spanakoepita, which is topped with a healthy mound of feta, and a side of the Artichoke Pasta Deli Salad. We decided to get a slice of the tall Chocolate Cake to go. If you are a chocolate lover, I would recommend this. Very rich and tasty.
