Can’t tell you how many times that I have walked by and said, gotta try it, gotta try it — finally did and it was good. I have the Gyro, the meat was tender, love the onions, others didn’t but I did and I’m a huge tomato fan… I would have given them 4 stars but it had butter on it. Now I believe that’s a preference and I wasn’t preferring it today. Very friendly too! I will return to try the hummus platter

Mythos is an entirely adequate, if unspectacular, downtown lunch option. It is one of the few places downtown to get a reasonably healthy, non-chain meal for under $ 10, and I grab food here at least once every week or two. Food quality can be uneven, both within the menu itself and from visit to visit. For example, although the homemade Greek salad dressing is excellent, the salads seem to consist mostly of nice mixed greens one day but borderline-wilted iceberg lettuce on another. Chicken can be either overcooked or juicy and delicious. On the occasions when Mythos has lamb available, it has almost always been overcooked. The gyros, however, are almost always really tasty. Service is also inconsistent. Asking for traditional Greek items like grape leaves is to have your order disappear into a black hole for 15 or 20 minutes, whereas the kitchen knocks out the pita sandwiches almost as soon as you’ve pocketed your change at the register.(When dining with a group, this disparity in prep times can be inconvenient and annoying.) Sometimes the«express» counter is open, but other times it is not, forcing everyone into the much longer regular line. The avuncular gentleman who greets diners as they enter the line – presumably one of the owners – is very friendly and welcoming and happy to talk about the daily specials. The dining area is bright and clean. I will continue to get lunch at Mythos frequently, given the usually decent food and prices, but I wish they could stay on top of their game. If they did so, I would certainly update my rating to reflect it…

Pretty decent place to grab fast food, with great prices– their gyro was good(not too different from other places I’ve been) with crispy bread, that was key. Their tiropita was a little dry.

Mythos is an excellent place for a downtown lunch. I’ve been to both locations and been happy with the service and food at both. My friend, who is of Greek heritage, loves this restaurant, so I think that says a lot. I’ve had the Greek salad and gyros. The gyros are insanely good, but the only thing is they are sloppy to eat! Worth the effort if you don’t mind a few dribbles.

Went to the Vine St. location and the first thing you notice is how friendly the staff is. It’s so nice to be greeted with a sincere smile. I had the Gyro Salad based on the recommendation below and it was outstanding. I couldn’t finish it the portion was so big! Lots and lots of meat… lots and lots of veggies. I also had the lentil soup which was very good and nice and hot. Add the drink in and I left full and only $ 10 poorer.

I had the pleasure of visiting this place last night. I went with a group of people who had it reserved so I can’t entirely speak to the day to day experience of dining here. It was really impressive though the level of hospitality they showed to us. They stayed open past normal business hours, prepared a special menu, gave us discount pricing, and generally took really good care of us. The pricing is very reasonable and everyone was extremely happy with their food. They have a number of vegetarian options including moussaka which is a specialty of theirs. I tried this and was very happy with it even though I am not traditionally a huge fan of eggplant. The portions were quite generous. The service was very attentive, though I get the impression you normally order at the counter. I had the tiropita which is like a Greek mozzarella stick. Except completely different. It is a mixture of seasoned Greek cheese in a flaky phillo pastry pocket that is reportedly fried, but it didn’t seem greasy to me. The pastry was excellent and the cheese was tasty. It comes with two pieces for a very reasonable price. I didn’t get to try the baklava(to be honest, I was stuffed), but I hear that it is very good. I would gladly eat here again.

I’ve been wanting to stop here for the last few months, but I could never get anyone from work to go in with me. I was finally able to get some lunch there today and I was very impressed. A friendly Greek gentleman greeted us near the registers with a menu and explained the specials for the day. I ordered a Mega Gyro for myself and my fiancée had a BLT Pita. About 2 minutes later our food was ready to go. It had been a few years since I had my last gyro so I was pretty excited to have another. The meat was piled so high that I could barely fold the thing in half to eat it. I probably picked off a third of the meat and ate it with my hand before I could start eating. The meat was hot and had tons of flavor, the tomatoes were fresh and the sauce was perfect.

Not my favorite gyro in the city but I do like it a lot — especially since I work downtown. It’s very yummy and their specials are good too!

My favorite dish here is the Greek salad with gyro meat on it. Yum! I ate here at least once every week I visited Cincinnati on business.

This local, family-owned Greek chain has three locations. The newest and largest is on 4th St., with other locations on 7th St.(between Walnut and Main) and Vine St. I frequently visited the Newport restaurant before the family closed it in late 2007 to expand to the larger location downtown. My favorite menu choice, the Greek salad, with ingredients like feta cheese and olives, is always fresh, tasty and generous in size. The chicken gyro, featuring onions, tomatoes and a yogurt type sauce served on warm pita bread, is also an excellent choice. Can’t comment on the pastries, though, only because I haven’t tried them. Maybe next visit! The service is prompt, the employees are pleasant, and prices are reasonable. What’s not to like?

Mythos is a great lunch-time restaurant located in downtown Cincinnati. While the address is listed as 651 Walnut St., the restaurant actually resides on the 7th St. side of the Aronoff Center. Authentic Greek gyro’s are its staple and for good reason: the perfectly cooked, succulent meat is lovingly placed in a pita filled with sliced tomatoes, onions and a creamy-white dressing. If the traditional meat is not to your liking, there are chicken gyros as well. After you’ve gorged on all the meaty goodness, treat yourself to some baklava, an authentic, sweet pastry from the Middle East.
