As a previous reviewer mentioned, you can never be sure how it’s going to turn out. I have visited the Eastgate location a number of times, but only once for a haircut. That one experience was enough to tell me I should stick with my regular salon and stylist. The cut wasn’t necessarily bad, but I prefer my bangs left longer and I told the stylist this at the outset, but she still cut them way too short. But my daughter and I do go in for monthly pedicures during the Summer months, and I have the occasional manicure or massage/facial. Most times I’ve been pleased with the results, but the last time I had a pedicure I went to another nail salon to have it done over. This particular technician was clearly not in the mood to work, she stopped to check her cell phone throughout. At one point I was tempted to say«You really don’t want to be here today, do you?» And I regret now that I didn’t say something or lodge a complaint. And they no longer use OPI products, nor do you get the bottle of polish after your service. I can understand they’re trying to keep costs down, so I’m OK with not getting a FREE bottle of polish, but you also don’t have the option of purchasing it. This is a negative for me because I like to coordinate the color of my toes and fingers. And I don’t remember to the brand they’re currently using, the technician told me it’s a superior product to OPI and dries more quickly. I don’t disagree that it dries quicker, but it doesn’t wear as well as OPI. Also, I’ve not had an instructor check my pedicure in a very long time. It may be that the students who are doing them are far enough along in their training, they don’t feel they need to be supervised. That being said, I’ll continue to visit Regency for my monthly pedicures. It’s a nice chance for me to spend a little time with my daughter and the cost is still VERY affordable, even without the free polish. And now that I’m going to be a Grandma, I look forward to the chance to bring my granddaughter here when she’s old enough for her first mani/pedi.

Regency Beauty Institute is one of those places that when you try it you have no idea how it is going to turn out. Expectations are zero because 1. its a cosmetology school and 2. its not frequently reviewed on Unilocal. That being said, when I walked out I was pleased that I had a good experience. In regards to my experience, first and most importantly, I found Regency to be pretty clean. Many times I have found myself worried that I might pick up some sort of random fungus when getting my nails done. Here, in the way that they do their appointments that is not possible. Teachers review feet and fingers before, to ensure there isn’t any fungus and if their is, they will not do your nails at that time. For me that is a big plus! Finally, as for my nails, I was happy with how they turned out. My pedicure was awesome! My nail tech, Samantha, did a great job smoothing out the gross callous on my feet and putting a nice pretty pink color on my toe nails. The only recommendation on the pedi is that they re-think their pedi chairs. When Samantha was diligently smoothing out my callous there wasn’t anywhere for me to rest my foot, Samantha had to hold my foot and eventually both my leg and her arm got tired. It would have been nice to have the foot rest part a little bit higher for me to sit my leg on. The manicure was less impressive. Although I know its not the best for you, I prefer to have my cuticles trimmed, which is something that they just don’t do. The polish was nice, but after the great pedicure, the manicure fell flat. Overall this place is definitely a great place to get your nails done whether on a budget or not. I suspect that based on the number of people who where in there when I was that this might be one of the better places in the area for nails. When in doubt, check it out!

I was let in on the hidden find of this place a few weeks ago. This place offers a variety of salon/spa services for super cheap. when I called to make an appointment, I was happy to find that when I called, there were a variety of available appointment times to schedule. I chose to have the $ 15 pedicure… which also included a bottle of OPI polish. Considering the fact that most salons around the city charge $ 40+…it is a steal. The only downfall is that since the services are done by students, they are extremely thorough… which equals almost 2 hours for a pedicure!
