Save-A-Lot

Save a lot is a great local grocery! They have all the basics you need at really cheap prices and the staff is really friendly! Yes, the carts do lock up if you take them out of the parking lot, but that is because it keeps people from stealing them (and when you don’t have to buy new carts every week, you can keep your groceries at a nice low price!) One really easy way to remedy this dilemma… wait for it… don’t take the carts out of the parking lot! lol. I love this store!
Once I did get a product that was expired, but I called them that day and they gave me a HUGE box of name brand product for exchange (and a soda to boot!!). They were super nice about it and were eager to fix it and keep me a happy customer. Can’t say enough good things about them! I just love this place!

This place is terrible. The selection is sparse, and the produce looks like it’s seen better days. Most of the shopping carts are lame (and not «I-​can-​still-​work-​with-​this» lame, but full-​blown cart quadriplegics). Unfortunately, it’s really the only grocery option in Northside, so we have to take what we can get, I guess.

I see a lot about Northsiders supporting their local businesses but this grocery isn’t even on the Northside promo map. It’s not really trendy. It’s just cheap and serves your needy neighbors. They have some very good store brand items at big discount, and some barely OK. Try it, it’s convenient. Two blocks west of Hamilton Ave.
You bag your own groceries. The carts lock up if you try to take them off the lot.
