Steak ‘n Shake

Well for starters im not a very picky person when it comes down to eating at a cheap fast food type of resturaunt but when i came in the place is very dirty. It took about 4 minutes to even get noticed while i stood waiting at the sign. When the waitress brought me to my seat the table was so dirty she just swept everything off and sat me there i didnt think it as a big deal until she just up and walked away. She came back about 10 minutes later and asked me when i wanted to eat and didnt meantion anything about a drink so i had to tell her everything i wanted and my drink so it takes another 6 minutes to bring me my drink but when i look over i seen 4 employees standing in the back by the fountain drink area talking. So i get my food and it was very metiocre and the burger was doused with butter and the fries were cold but the burger was hot and i felt sick to my stomach from all the grease and butter i ate off the burger i highly recomend staying as far away from this steak and shake as possible.

Worst service ever! We stood and watched 7 staff members stand around and talk for quite a while while we waited to be seated. Finally when we decided to leave, a very grumpy host, Bill, came to seat us. We should have left anyway! He was rude, to say the least. While our waitress was nice, we watched others that came in after us get their food before we did. Finally after looking at our food sitting on the counter for aprox. 5 min, I called the waitress over and asked if she could check to see if that was our food sitting there. She responded, «It is your food but we’re waiting on two more chicken fingers.» wtf??? You made our food minus TWO chicken fingers. No sense what so ever. The fries, if you can call them that, were cold. Food was mediocre at best. If you’re a Steak ‘n Shake fan, I suggest driving two exits up to the Milford location! #wontbeback

Thank you to the manager Anthony for bringing my son a new milkshake after he spilled his first one all over the floor. I offered to clean it up but he assured me not to worry about it. So thoughtful.

My son ate but I didn’t even order because this place is utterly filthy. The floors, the table tops. They clean nothing around here. It’s very off putting.

Food was good. We had to hunt down our waitress to get a refill for our drinks. Went up to pay and ordered 2 milkshakes. The girl who took our order clocked out and left. Our milkshakes sat there and melted because nobody knew they were ours. Then we witnessed a woman assembling sandwiches for the drive thru while texting on her phone.

Slow, even considering your food is made to order. I dont expect fast service because of that but even when ordering shakes, it takes way longer than needed. The chili is greasy water with a few pebbles of meat and enough beans to count on one hand. The burgers are usually decent… unless the bun is hard. The chicken fingers are decent… unless super dried out. Basically, what I am getting at is the food is sketchy. There is a 60% chance of getting hardened, stale throwaway items. The price isn’t ideal considering how the quality usually is. I stopped going a few months ago when my husband received hard, dry chicken fingers and my banana shake had clumps of powder. It just isn“t worth the wait time or money to eat at this location.
No one in my family is a fan of the shoestring fries. Personally, I think the menu could use some new items.

My grandson loves this place so we eat there when we go out and it’s his choice. I do love the milkshakes. The four stars is the company of my grandson.

Food was good as is most always the case with just about any Steak and Shake… however the service was terrible. Line of people waiting for tables (with only ¼ full restaurant) while two waitresses sat in the back corner having their own conversation, and waitress for my table wasn’t any better with extremely slow and poor service. I was going to order a milkshake after my meal… but my waitress never showed up again so I got tired of waiting and eventually just left. Poor service.

Not fast, buns and plates were hot and hard from the length of time under the heat lamp. Servers bussed tables and served food multiple times without ever washing their hands. Took 1 hour for 2 burgers and fries to be served to us. Other stake and shakes I have visited were not like this…

I went through the drive thru tonight to get a milkshake, and the service was quicker than expected (the shakes usually take such a long time). The s’mores milkshake is pretty amazing!

We have visited this location quite a bit and have had pretty consistently good experiences. I would recommend going in, if you can, since the only problems we really had, was through the drive-​thru.
The breakfast options are quite surprisingly good and quite reasonably priced. I will normally go for a skillet which is around $ 6 and you get an adequate amount of food. The biscuits and gravy are decent, but nothing special. The normal dinner menu is also executed well and reasonably priced. The shakes are normally pretty good, but I have had some versions that weren’t as good as you would expect.
I would definitely go to this place in a pinch for a cheap reasonable meal. Only issue is when they get really busy they can have some long ticket times.

Pretty good for your «run of the mill» burger place. We actually got the breakfast this morning, which was very affordable, and really a great value considering how much food you get! I got the california skillet meal for only around $ 6, and not only included the skillet meal (eggs, chicken, hashbrowns, pico de gallo cheese, and avacado slices) but also a choice of bagel, toast, or biscuit on the side. I have had other good experiences at this location for lunch/​dinner with their burgers, fries, and shakes!

I had very good service and food was hot and delivered quickly for the party of 6 that was with me.

Service was slow. The food took about 30 minutes to come. Waitress explained that they were behind but how is that the customers fault? Not sure I will be back to this location although food was good today.

I stopped here to get some breakfast before heading to the airport. The food was mediocre and the service was incredibly slow. The whole restaurant just seemed entirely disorganized and is by far the worst Steak N Shake I have ever visited.

The food is not unlike any other Steak N Shake I’ve been to, and I love the fact they have their usuals — I go for their chili or a burger and a shake.
However, this is the final time that I will be going here. After my previous awful experience, I called Steak N Shake to complain about my poor visit here. They alerted management, who then alerted the store manager. I was sent a gift card with a set amount to make up for my poor experience. Since I had the gift card, my boyfriend and I decided to give Steak N Shake one last try. So despite my concerns, I walked in last night hoping to have an entirely different experience — — - NOT SO.
Last time, I had my food served much later than my boyfriend’s, and served cold — and our shakes never came until we reminded the waiter of our order. The wait to pay was ridiculous for it being just us in line.
It’s been a month or so, and I finally return with my boyfriend around 11:30 p.m. or so. They only had one waitress serving — understandable, night shift is difficult. However, we waited another 15 minutes to get anything past our drink orders. 3 other tables were served before we were, and subsequently all got their food before we did.
The woman who sat us also sat 3 other tables, and I heard her say she’d take the working waitress’ orders for her — and she started with the couple that came after us. The working waitress then came and took 2 other tables orders before the hostess came back to tell us it would just be a few minutes.
I was highly irritated — it’s not like I’ve been in here that often, and this is ²⁄₂ that I’ve had a terrible time in the past year. I would have let it go, but even my boyfriend noticed. Not to mention his shake was filled with more ice than ice cream; the ice cream was so frozen, it had ice chips melting in the shake. He never complains, so the fact he brought it up really riled my temper.
I WILL NOT BE RETURNING HERE. Period. I may try other Steak N Shakes, but I will not be returning to this location. I even saw the manager on duty there, so I’m not sure exactly what is going on there, but they seriously don’t know how to provide BASIC DECENT SERVICE. To me, the food is not even worth the trip. I’ll just make chili at home. It’s cheaper and at least I am satisfied.

My friends and I love to go here for a cheap meal, the food is great for cheap fast food, but it’s still cheap fast food. I give the food a five (again, a five for fast food) but the service has just gone way downhill. They’re always polite, but that doesn’t make up for the slow service. The shakes often get mixed up and never come before or even DURING the meal anymore. You have to nag and nag them or you will never get your shake. They usually just hand it to you in a carry out cup when you pay… Unacceptable. When it’s busy, some of the waiters can’t seem to manage all their tables and either are rushed or forget about you entirely. I love going here with my friends for a quick, cheap meal, but the service has slipped so much recently, that it’s almost not worth it anymore
