Substance

I’m writing an update, even though I’m not changing the amount of stars (they are five stars, all the way). I need to talk more about this place, because I went back again and had another great experience.
QUALITY: the quality of the clothes is excellent. We are talking mostly small businesses, lots of organic and handcrafted and independent (though there are some larger companies’ stuff also). No, friends, this is not a «Gap-​sale-​rack $ 3.99 Tshirts» kind of place (though they almost always have some Ts on sale for $ 9.99 somewhere). This is a place that champions artisans and quality, so you may have to step up an pay a bit more. That said, it isn’t designer pricing, like $ 175 for a Tshirt just because of the name.
SERVICE: The service is exactly what I want in a clothing store. Meaning, one can go in there and not be bothered (except for a friendly hello), if one is just looking around. However, if one is seriously shopping, as in «help me I need to find something to wear», the owner Christina is just divine. For me, I went in there alone, without a girlfriend to help. Christina became my shopping buddy – after I told her what I was looking for, she began to suggest items, pulling out things she thought would work for me. There was no hard sell, just helpful advice. I absolutely love that in a shop, and it doesn’t hurt that is only a few short blocks from my house :)

Substance is a beautiful, fairly new boutique located in OTR. So happy to have them in the neighborhood!
They have a variety of different items ranging from dresses, blazers, jewelry, scarves, and jeans, you name it they’ve got it! I love that they offer both casual and dressy options.
The quality is certainly there. I thought the pricing was sorta weird though. Something I thought would be super expensive wasn’t and something I thought would be cheap like a plain white t-​shirt was around thirty-​something.
In the end, this place has something for every price range and style. Definitely worth checking out!

Substance is such a breath of fresh air. It is by far my favorite new boutique in OTR. They cary beautiful pieces, some of which are Eco friendly designers. The owner has such a chic eye, I’m so glad this Columbus transplant has come to Cincinnati. And, as a plus size women I can actually find some things that fit me!
