Excellent place for lunch. They have a unique puff pastry which is used for everything from sandwiches to the desert. The service was friendly and courteous. The food quality was excellent and the price was very good. I look forward to trying other items. I like the fact that the menu is limited, but they have something for most anyone. They prepare most ingredients from scratch which I am sure helps ensure the quality is good. I also like that they give you a choice of salad or chips with the sandwiches instead of a tired standby like french fries. We had the chicken salad sandwich, the kids had a hot dog and a sausage roll. Everyone was happy with their food.

What a wonderful little gem of a place. I had the chicken curry cornik, which was delicious, as was the red cabbage slaw that was on the side. I also got their mini mille-feuille to go, and it was OUTSTANDING. The crust was incredibly light and flaky, and the custard was so delicately sweet. I was there just when they opened for the day and got to chat with the owners, who are such a charming couple. I will have to tell ALL of my friends about this place!

It’s the cutest little place and very clean. The menu is small, but that’s because what they do, they do well. If you love pastry for every meal, you will love this place. I highly recommend the chicken curry cornik, and I’m in love with the blend of traditional English dishes with a twist and modern flare. They make their own balsamic vinaigrette dressing, and everything is so fresh and delicious. I will be coming back again soon!

Simply outstanding– a little jewel in downtown Montgomery. Run by an extraordinarily hospitable couple — English husband and Thai wife — this place transported us to another world. The delicious puff pastry is made from scratch in house and tasted fantastic in the cornik(we had the one with curry chicken) as well as the rolik(modeled on the English sausage roll). We’ve been here twice in three days already — I think my kids and husband are addicted to the dessert which is simply delicious. Tonight we we also had a special treat here which was authentic Thai food(satay, red curry and yellow curry) prepared on advance request by the Thai chef. This is simply the best and most authentic Thai we’ve ever had in Cincinnati and compares to the food we ate in Bangkok and Pattaya. Help keep this little jewel thriving! It always breaks my heart that the nicest Cincinnati restaurants seem to close for want of patronage.

My wife and I decided to try out TasteFlare, particularly as we live within walking distance of the restaurant and would very much welcome a unique non-chain dining experience to the neighborhood. I ordered the chicken cornik, while my wife had the chicken curry cornik. Both tasted excellent! The puff texture was very nice and flaky. The curry was not at all overpowering, adding a good amount of flavor to the cornik. For dessert, we were talked into trying the Mini Mille Feuille; however, my wife and I aren’t huge fans of custard, so they let us change out the custard for Nutella, which was amazing! We were served by the owners, who also act as the wait staff. They were very pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere was interesting. It’s hard to create a warm and inviting atmosphere in that space, but the owners did a pretty good job. The one thing that did seem out of place to me was the music playing, which(I think) was a classic rock radio station. Bottom line is that the food was unique and tasty and the service was delightful. The previous establishment in this space was also a husband and wife team that didn’t last long. Here’s hoping that Tasteflare is around to stay for a long while!

Great food and great service! I had the Chicken Salad Sandwich and also tried one of the deserts. Everything was made fresh and tasted better than I could have even imagined. I’m definitely going back and would recommend it to anyone!

What a wonderful family owned restaurant! I hope this restaurant fares well in Olde Montgomery because I will surely go back! I ordered the Curried Chicken Cornik, a wonderful warm puff pastry filled with curried chicken, potatoes, and a mixture of vegetables. Served with a side salad or chips, this was the perfect place for brunch. Another plus of this business being family owned is that the owner is very nice and even took the time to explain all the menus options to me and my friends. I would recommend this to anyone looking for good british cuisine and a friendly atmosphere.

This place is wonderful! My friend and I were really hungry so we ordered the Cornik with Chicken Curry, «Taste Flare» Hot Dog, a cold Chicken Salad sandwich, and a Mini Mille Feuille to share. First off, the service was fantastic! They came over and explained the entire menu to us, and kept checking in to see if we needed anything. We actually came in near closing time but they told us to take our time and didn’t give any signs that they wanted us to leave. I don’t think we stayed too long past anyway, but I really appreciated how nice they were about it. The food was great. The salad was just a typical side salad, nothing too unique. My favorite entrée was actually the Cornik with the Chicken Curry. It was warm and flaky! I would have liked a little more curry flavor but it was still pretty awesome… the owner told us that the Chicken Salad Sandwich was an award winner(I forget from where) but I think I liked the hot ones better. The dessert came out and it blew me away. I love the Mini Mille Feuille. The fresh fruits and custard complemented the flaky pastry nicely. It wasn’t over the top sweet either! The plating was really beautiful so I couldn’t help but take some pictures. My friend and I were joking that we should just order 4 of these next time. Will definitely come back!

Oh my gosh! I loved this place so much I’m reviewing it asap. Came here for dinner and was even thinking about canceling due to the crazy rain, but I’m so glad we kept our dinner. This was such a pleasant little surprise tucked away in the main Montgomery city centre. The owners are a Thai and English couple and they are oh so sweet with an adorable son! Since it was horrid weather, there weren’t many guests, but a few came in to order a little take out. Everything is made-to-order and the pastries are so flaky and light and fluffy and delicious all at the same time. None of the flavours were horridly overpowering, everything was very subtle and delicate for something that has so much butter power! We each had a ‘savory’ pastry, I had the tuna pastry sandwich and my friend had the chicken cornik. The pastry chef split them for us and we had one of each. Oh gosh, so delicious! The whole time my friend was talking I was having«gosh this is delicious» monologues in my head and not really listening to her(ha-ha!) We topped it all off with the mini mille-feuille and it was delicious! She even made it less sweet because we had an asian-connection moment. It was the perfect sweetness :) The dishes themselves were not too small and not too big, they were perfectly sized. It really would have been enough to eat one and be filled up but we had to have the dessert: D The best part about this place was the menu. It was so perfect. They have a small menu with a few options that they specialize in, so you don’t have to worry about picking something that you’re worried won’t be very good because everything you pick will probably be good! The owners were so, so nice too! We were there past their closing time but they were so courteous and nice, we even chatted at the end. And not to mention, the prices were great! It’s really a great value for something that’s both chic, delicious, and fancy at the same time!

We really enjoyed our first visit to TasteFlare this week. They serve both the English-style«cornik»(Cornish pasty) and desserts. A pasty is a flaky, triangular or D-shaped savory pastry filled with your choice of chicken, curry chicken, vegetables, ham & cheese or turkey & cheese. They are served with a side salad. Also available are sausage rolls and puff pastry sandwiches. The savory pasties are large and taste surprisingly lighter than they no doubt are. The filling is reminiscent of a pot pie, but not nearly as heavy. For dessert, the Mini Melle-Feuille is a must-try. It’s three layers of puff pastry, filled with custard and fresh fruit, liberally dusted with powdered sugar.

Great new pastry/café in Montgomery! Decided to go for lunch and had the amazing Chicken Cornik and the Chicken Rolik. Both were excellent. The owners make their own pastries and their recipes are their own as well. For dessert we had their signature item, Mini Mille-Feuille. Oh my goodness, AMAZING!
