Just recently went to Terry’s for the first time and WOW. I had heard a lot about their burgers but they truly need to be seen to be believed. The location is a bit out of the way for me, but it is completely worth the drive. The staff is friendly and most seem like they’ve been there for awhile which is nice. A happy employee makes a good employee, after all. We went on a Saturday afternoon and the place was quite busy, but the wait wasn’t long at all and a beer outside in the bleacher seats eating peanuts isn’t a bad way to kill a beautiful summer afternoon. My girlfriend and I both ordered burgers and upon them arriving I nearly fainted. The burgers are HUGE! It took us awhile just to plan out how to even go about eating them(just bite right in, in my opinion). The bill can easily climb pretty high, though. Adding ingredients to the burger is definitely the most expensive part of the experience, but you definitely get what you pay for. I added avocado on my burger and literally got a half of an avocado. So come hungry. A great Cincinnati staple, and a must-try for anyone that enjoys a good burger.

Great place for burgers. Jared and Richard provided great service. Thank you Jared for your great old fashions. I had the burger with red wine, mushroom truffle sauce. Soooo freaking yummy. Best onion rings too. Came here with my friends tonight and the best burger I had in a long time. Also, great selection of beers. Top spot recommended. Coming back for sure.

Ate here tonight for the first time with my boyfriend and it was awesome. Staff was friendly and helpful. We sat at the bar and could see and watch every meal being made. The food was so fresh and delicious. Everyone behind the bar was kind and even let us try any drinks we had any questions about before we bought any of them. We will be back! The burgers were HUGE! Loved the atmosphere also. Very cool, calm, and relaxed. Everyone was there to enjoy a yummy dinner, and that they did!

In my opinion I would just skip past Terry’s turf club and experience a burger from a number of other options cincinnati has to offer. It’ll end up being a 15 – 20 dollar burger made w average quality beef(so from a factory farm somewhere with a cow full of antibiotics and disease) from restaurant depot. I will support someone charging an arm and a leg for a burger but the quality of ingredients has to be there and they just aren’t present. I’ve personally met Terry and he’s not a person that strives to deliver quality, he’s a businessman bottom line and is about making dollars and the less he spends on each burger the more over all profit he makes per burger and it shows! I have personally been to The Elusive Cow in Bellevue ky and they have 15 or 20 dollar burgers but they offer a variety of meats such as bison, beef, lamb and others. Their meats are also all organic, hormone free or even just wild game. They use all organic local vegetables, artisan local cheeses made and just over all a higher quality product for the same price. If you’re looking for something in the 10 – 15 range I highly recommend gordo’s pub in Norwood, they are all around 10 – 12 dollars a piece and are the same quality as Terry’s or higher, and definitely deliver in the flavor category! If you are over in ky I recommend eating at Zola pub and grill in main Strauss and they even have a deal on Wednesdays where any burger with up to 5 toppings is only $ 6 and it’s one of the mm out flavorful burgers I’ve ever had in general. I find a burger is such a mass produced, underwhelming product and if you’re going to be a place that specializes in burgers you better deliver in flavor, price and a number of other demographics and Terry’s fails in a lot of those. There is just so much competition and they aren’t competing. Don’t let the ambience fool you! Go for better quality, better prices or better flavors!

Burger was just okay. Insanely small interior, and excessive wait times. Staff was drinking alcoholic drinks throughout our entire visit!

Unique beyond comparison. More neon than anyplace in the city. Worthy of the national attention that it gets from shows like diners drives and dives through’s. It’s well worth getting the special burger treatments that this place has more treatments to the burger than any other place in our locality

I’m not sure how it’s possible that I have not been to Terry’s Turf Club until now! So you can NOT miss Terry’s when driving on Eastern. Even in the daytime. The gaudy neon signs adorning the building and surrounding lawn will let you know that you have arrived. Since I was the first to arrive, I put my group’s name down with the host. The host is a witty and charming older gentleman(who I was later informed, is always working at Terry’s). While waiting we were given peanuts to snack on. After about a 30 min wait, we were finally seated at a booth. The place was packed, but we actually received pretty quick service. I was pretty impressed by the efficiency! Terry’s is basically a build your own burger type of place. Burgers start at $ 8.95, then you can add toppings for an upcharge. You definitely have to be mindful of toppings that you add, if you don’t want to end up with an expensive burger. I decided on a burger with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, Halloumi cheese, and the mango curry sauce. It was massive and overwhelming to eat, but SO good! I only made it ½ way through and took the rest home. I will definitely be back to Terry’s! Its a nice low key spot for a good meal!

Probably one of the most interesting burger joints I’ve ever come across. Hard to describe the décor. You just have to see it. Burgers are perfectly cooked. To max out the flavor profile add make sure to have bacon and an egg on it. Burgers are big so get plenty of napkins. Fries are above average, but certainly play second fiddle to the entrée.

Don’t eat too many peanuts, or you’ll fill up and won’t have room for the main course — and trust me, you’ll need a LOT of room! The burger: tasty, massive, cooked just right! If you get onions and banana peppers as toppings, ask for them to be grilled, as it makes a huge difference. The fries and onion rings were also on point. The atmosphere: old school, with high tables and neon signs everywhere. Kind of a small place, so I wouldn’t be surprised if there are long waits during prime mealtimes. We went for lunch around 11:30, and I noticed the place started to fill up around noon. The verdict: I had a good experience and I’d undoubtedly come again!

Very interesting restaurant. Wildly decorated. really cool looking. Very friendly staff. Burgers are above average for sure. The setup is a bit crowded and it can get extremely claustrophobic in there when it’s crowded tho.

First time here! It is very old school and classic. I ordered burger with portabella mushroom, and French fries for sides. The portion is amazing! It is about half pound of meat, which is cooked perfectly. Everything is very fresh and tasty. The service is great too. Our waiter is very friendly and give us Burgundy wine sauce for taste, which matches mushroom very well. They also serve free peanuts as snack. I definitely will come again! The only suggestion is that it would be better if they can stop using disposal plates for serving.

OH. MY. GOD. This place is now my number one favorite spot in Cincinnati. Came here on a Saturday afternoon not knowing what to expect. There was a wait, and the hostess was very helpful and informative. She gave us menus and peanuts while we waited. We were quoted about 20 minutes, but were sat at the bar much faster than that. I loved the bar. All the beers are stocked in retro style coolers, the beer selection was impressive and unique, and both bartenders did a great job. The burgers blew my mind. I was skeptical about spending $ 15 for a burger, but that $ 15 was worth the quality and quantity! I ordered mushrooms on mine and they gave me an entire portobello mushroom! The boyfriend added avocado and received and entire half avocado on his. Pro tip: don’t use a knife! It’ll make it just fall apart. The bartender named Terry(coincidence, or was this THE Terry?) told me to just go for it as he slid extra napkins to me. Love love love this place, and already want to come back! Best $ 15 burger I’ve ever had.

Terry’s Turf Club is my #1 place to take friends and family visiting Cincinnati. Everyone always loves it and raves about it later on. I love Terry’s Turf Club because of the atmosphere and the food. Terry’s doesn’t have my favorite burger ever, but they are extremely good. Recently they changed their buns and their fries. Which both were total upgrades. The fries are amazing now, and the buns they use are so soft and fresh tasting it complements the burger. There are other things on their menu that I haven’t tried because it’s hard to pass up on the burger. Also, they have a really great beer selection and a full bar. When I go to Terry’s I really like sitting at the bar. It’s my favorite. The bartenders are always really cool and I don’t really have to feel squished in anywhere and worry about people ramming into the back of me. Plus, I like watching the bartenders and cooks do what they do. It’s pretty entertaining to watch the kitchen turn out the food as fast as they do. Tips for going to Terry’s. 1. Call ahead to see what the wait time is. They have no problem giving you a guestimation and I’ve never had them be wrong about it. Terry’s can be extremely busy sometimes especially during the weekend, and consistently during the summer. 2. When eating the peanuts, just throw the shells on the floor. Doesn’t matter if you are sitting at the bar, a table or a booth. Just throw the shells on the floor or everyone working there will judge you first, then tell you to just throw them on the floor. 3. When it comes to your burger, the fewer toppings the better. It’s easier to eat, and if you get fewer toppings more of them will end up in your mouth instead of sadly on your plate. 4. If you end up getting a side of fries or anything else, make sure you eat your burger first. It is giant, and if you binge eat your fries you’re not going to have room for that giant amazing burger. 5. If you only get halfway through your burger and your server or bartender asks you if you want a take out box, take it. They can see it in your eyes that you’re K.O. Don’t try to be the burger champ. Because if you finish the burger, as soon as you get up to walk to your car. YOUAREGOINGTOFEELIT. By «IT» I mean you’re going to feel like you may throw up. What I’m trying to say is, don’t be an amateur. I’ve made all these mistakes so that you can learn from them. Terry’s is amazing and don’t let anyone else tell you different.

The look of the Terry’s Turf Club is fun, tons of neon signs, a sort of 50s diner on steroids. The staff is pretty friendly. The wait can be long, probably because it is a pretty small place, so I can’t get too mad about that. The real deal breaker is that the food is good, but it’s messy and it always leaves me feeling a bit sick(I’ve been 3 times, always feel gross afterwards). The hype around this place makes you think that you are about to have the best burger in the galaxy, so maybe my disappointment is from the high expectations I’ve had. I’ve gone back enough times to know it won’t get much better. I’d say that you have to eat there at least once if you are in The Cincinnati area just to see it for yourself.

BLUF: I really would go out of my way to get this burger. Amazing. My bro-in law says this is best in the state and I didnt believe him. Now I do. Build your own burger and they have interesting add-ons. I was pretty standard and just got mushrooms but with brie cheese. It was unbelievable. Really one of the better burgers I have ever had. Cooked to perfection, big and juicy. We took them to go(baby) but the place was very interesting inside. Dive 50’s dinner that someone threw up in. I mean that in a loving way. Great staff too. Really an amazing burger. I will go back next time I am in town.

Holy cow… I felt like I ate an entire cow today! Exactly how much does each of Terry’s burgers weigh? The waitress told us that each weigh over a half of a pound. With that said, my biggest recommendation is to stick with the chips that come with it automatically. My husband and I both upgraded and paid extra to have fries instead of the chips, and both of us wasted our fries. Perfect example our my eyes being bigger than my stomach. We pulled up around noon on a Sunday. Immediately we were awestuck by the outside décor. It was like the weird lady’s house who over decorates at Christmas, except Terry’s wasn’t Christmas décor, they were neon signs everywhere, even in the yard. Inside, was the same reaction. Jim, the host greeted us as soon as we walked in. We must’ve gotten there at a perfect time and day, because there were several tables available. There are somewhere between 10 – 15 tables, so the place is quite small. We opted to sit at the bar. We all ordered our burger and then sat there quietly. We were in total awe as the burgers were being prepared right in front of us. I ordered mine well done and it came out cooked perfectly. How I wrapped my mouth around that massive patty topped with my choice of toppings(lots of pickles) on a brioche style bun, I’m still wondering. Then it was back in, for a nap… food coma. Note: They’re closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. How Terry is so skinny, is a mystery, clearly he doesn’t eat his burgers often.

Just like every other person who didn’t give this place a 5 star, I really wanted to like this place too, but I guess it’s just not for me. I will skip all the decorations and peanuts and what not people have mentioned, they are all true. The reasons I don’t like it: 1. Huge burger and impossible to take a bite. You might be able to if you keep it simple with just meat, cheese, and one more sauce at most, but the server didn’t give us any advices and I always liked gourmet burger than plain. So my burger was the size of my face. 2. For first timers, it was so confusing what we should do with our burger. So many ingredients. No suggestions. No house favorite or something. Gave me anxiety. 3. Two drinks and two burgers. $ 50 without tips. You kidding me? Onion ring for 3.75? Am I at Jeff ruby or something? Maybe I am just not a big burger eater or whatever, but I have had better.

After hearing that Terry’s has the best burgers in town and then reading the mixed reviews on Unilocal,I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to try it or what to expect. Paul and I arrived around 11:45 on Sunday morning in hopes of beating the lunch crowd; we were successful, as there was no wait. The host, who was greeting guests outside, offered us a seat at the bar, but when I declined, he seated us at a high top and explained that others would likely be sitting with us. I’m not real big on sharing space with strangers, but I decided to roll with it. It’s a small place, so I understand the need to pack in patrons. No one sat with us, but if they had, it would have been a tight squeeze. Our server explained the menu at about a gazillion MPH, but she was happy to reiterate what she said when we were ordering. She was quite upbeat and carried a constant smile. We decided to share the filet Mignon chili. It had a good kick to it, and the bits of filet were scrumptious. Paul did not like that it came without cheese. It took quite a while for our burgers to arrive, but when we saw the size of them, we knew why. I had mine with Gorgonzola, lettuce, and tomato. Mine was supposed to be medium; it was closer to medium rare but still very good. Paul ordered his with thick-sliced bacon, lettuce, and American cheese. We both thought the burgers were good, but not great(certainly not the best in town). We also thought the over-sized lettuce leaf was rather odd. It’s a good thing their burgers are served on ciabatta, as they are quite messy. I had the fries and Paul had the onion rings. We were both happy with those selections. I was not impressed with the fact that all food was served on paperware and with plastic utensils. Talk about environmentally unfriendly! When the bill came, I was a bit taken aback. Over 50 bucks for two iced teas, a cup of chili, and two burgers with fries and onion rings? At least I brought half my burger home so it will serve as another meal!

Even though there is always a wait to get seated, I’m giving this place 5 stars. It’s that good. And I don’t think I can even say it’s the best burger I’ve had. It isn’t. But it is a good burger and the sheer volume of choices is amazing. And the staff. The staff treat you like you’re a regular, even if it’s your first time there. They’re the best. We’ve been here twice and this last time was more enjoyable than the first. I think I was pretty overwhelmed the first time I was here. And they also seemed to do a better job of explaining the menu and options this time around. I’ve only had their burger but one of these days, we want to try the Filet Mignon chili. Maybe this fall when the weather turns colder. Anyway, here are a few items of note: ~ This last time, we tried a couple sauces. I was torn between the Dilly Blue and the cheese sauce. I chose the dilly blue and my husband got the cheese sauce. We both got them on the side so we could also dip our onion rings. The DIlly Blue is good for dipping, the cheese is not. It’s super thick and super rich. I want to get it next time, on my burger. But again, I think we’ll get it on the side because I think 1 will be enough for both of us. The Dilly Blue was really good but I tasted no blue cheese. The waitress mentioned she made it instead of the owner, Terry, who was on vacation. Maybe his is more«blue». But if you’re looking for blue cheese flavor, this wasn’t it. Get the actual blue cheese on your burger. And if you’re scared of blue, get this. I seriously tasted no blue. ~ The onion rings were *really* good. Even though you only get about 5 or 6, they’re huge. I had to leave one behind because I was so stuffed. I miss him. :(Luckily, my order of rings were messed up and came separately on a plate. I will request that from now on because they would have been soggy with burger juice if they were in my basket. My husband said his did end up soggy. Just say no to soggy onion rings, even if it soggy with yummy burger juice. ~ If you order avocado on your burger, you’re gonna get half of an avocado. Seriously. Not half of one, smashed on your burger. It’s half of an avocado sitting on your burger. You’ve been warned. ~ Yes, you’re going to wait. That’s usually the sign of a great place. Doesn’t help that they probably only seat about 40 – 50 people inside but just be prepared to wait. But you can go inside and get a drink and a bowl of peanuts to enjoy while you wait. ~And for those complaining about sitting with strangers, think about how much longer you’d have to wait if they were seating 2 people at a table that fits 6. If you want quiet privacy, this isn’t the place.
